Introduction
Abortion on demand is the idea that a woman has the legal right to “terminate her pregnancy” at any time during it. This type of abortion constitutes nearly all the abortions performed in the US today. There need not be any other factors involved other than that a woman doesn’t want her baby, or for a dwindling percentage perhaps that the fetus needs to be under a certain age, to authorize the act of abortion in the eyes of most “Pro-choice” folks today. As a result, over sixty million kids have been aborted in the US alone since 1973. Since the women’s liberation movement of the 1970s in the US, the act of abortion has become entangled in wider (nobler) matters like women’s rights, one’s personal rights to privacy, or preventing the potential overreach of governmental leaders who should not need to be involved. Abortion has become something honorable for many Americans today. Sacrosanct. Part of the American dream you might say. The ethical matter of abortion rose to the highest legal prominence in the US just before I was born and the fight for it as a basic constitutional right has since snowballed down the hill to where it is today.
As Christians we must try to understand the abortion mindset. We shouldn’t just dismiss people. We must always consider abortion as a matter of faith first. This then forms the basis for ethics either individually or nationally. This then shapes individual or cultural morals. We have to work to peel back the ideological onion and consider abortion’s root causes to try to understand the mindset that supports it. If we care we can start within ourselves and work our way outward from there to try to enter the psyche. It may be helpful, but it is insufficient to examine abortion from any other perspective than the biblical one. We must not “secularize” the subject! God himself must be in it in our minds. It should be a matter of prayer for us. A matter of humbling prayer and fasting. Ask God for wisdom to deal with it. James 1:5. You may after all be literally called on to save a life.
I am not “Pro-life” per se. I am a Christian. To write this letter is first and foremost a matter of love for God and love for others to me. I also have a sense of civic duty for other people’s lives. Perhaps this is the soldier in me. Abortion is first degree homicide. Abortion is murder. We must settle this in your mind and not budge even a millimeter. The triune God condemns all who commit (or perhaps even support) abortion under his sixth commandment. God commands: “You shall not murder.” Exodus 20:13. We must begin here, circle out through all of our argumentation from here, and come back around to here. Christians are to be engaged in fighting abortion for many reasons. One of them is for the sake of those under God’s wrath for violating this commandment. James 2:10. He surely may grant repentance to those who’ve committed abortion, but we must be ready and committed to call them to it if we love both God and them. We are agents of mercy when we wage this apologetic fight. We are ambassadors between two kingdoms not at peace with each other. This must be the tenor of the subject of abortion today. Lines have been clearly drawn. We can and should always support people where we can, and of course we should try to understand the culture to which we’re sent, but we must oppose abortion unequivocally at every turn. No good person or people can do otherwise. We must settle in our minds what exactly abortion is so that we can fight against it well. We want to know the enemy so that we’re not fighting against fiction. This letter is a work to help you do so. It will help you work through the biblical texts, many arguments, underlying ideas, terms, history, emotions and sticking points surrounding the matter to shore up your arguments and focus your prayers and talks. Forgive me, I’ll employ a lot of repetition to help communicate. We must weigh the arguments of the pro-choicer as Christians in order to combat it well in the world. The wisdom of God’s inspired word will light our path if we hold it up. “The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. Silent love is not enough. We must fight if we love. We must wage proper warfare. And remember, as we advance, we’re assured that even hell’s gates must fall. Matthew 16:18.
We have to be ready to discuss this issue today in light of the Cross. People are so deceived. We have to dig down deep to find them. I’ve had too many conversations on abortion to count. I want to share with you some of the things I’ve learned as a result, and to share some of my thinking on it with you if you’ll allow me to. As I said, I’ll use a lot of repetition throughout. I pray that I’m not alone in this fight. My prayer is that I can join with your own elders and friends in your churches in this writing to come alongside what’s been preached to you. This is a matter then of fellowship as God confirms us in it. I hope to not sound too cruel in this letter, but after sixty million plus murders, I believe we do well not to be too polite either. We should be extremely mad at this point. Scripture is sufficient to equip the Christian for this fight. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Apologetics then come alongside it to assist us in shaping the biblical data and our thoughts and prayers on the matter. To this end, I invite you to try to get inside the mind of the average pro-choicer with me through the lenses of Scripture and wisdom. Let the data just accumulate as you read. By the end I pray I’ve helped sharpen the blade of your prayers and words. We’ll do this from a biblical worldview that affirms God as Creator and man as his creation. I pray this letter helps you to love God and to also love others more precisely. You have no reason, however, to expect that doing so will make other people respect you for it. May God richly bless you and your time spent here.
Recent American History
Supreme Court Justice Mrs. Ruth Bader Ginsburg just died. She represents something in abortion for a great many people in my country today. She was a symbol. She was, is and will remain that symbol. The world loves her. She is a symbol for something I pray is as dead in years to come in my country as she herself now is. She will forever represent the propensities of the modern humanism that entrenches men in sin like Manchurian Candidates in layers of deceit so deep they can’t tell their right hand from their left. She fought valiantly for perhaps the grossest evil ever perpetrated in the world. You’ll only disagree with me on this if you judge by the wrong law. She championed abortion on demand. AKA choice. AKA women’s rights. AKA sexual autonomy. AKA reproductive justice. AKA reproductive rights. AKA murder. This is why so many have a love for her. They are of their father. John 8:44. There are other things for sure that she did that were not bad, but her fight to kill kids stains her legacy. I’ll come back and forth in my thoughts on Mrs. Ginsburg throughout the letter. God will be my witness that I spent much of my life fighting against abortion. At church, at work, at home, on the streets. I am down on record about it. This letter is just another part of my passion against it.
The women’s liberation movement has done a lot of good things for families in our day. It has also proven that women are just as fallen in sin as men. Part of the women’s liberation movement has always been the right to abortion via the argument of the right to privacy. The right to life trumps one’s rights to privacy. It’s not that one’s privacy is unimportant, but if a slave owner argued that he gets to do with his slaves, because they’re his property, whatever he wants and that it’s no one else’s business, we’d shut that down immediately. Women’s liberation was the catalyst behind the degradation of American culture in abortion. It came in the wake of the sexual revolution of the 1960s. More to follow on this. Many ladies just stopped acting like ladies. Many men were also asleep at the wheel not acting like men. Many in both sexes now agree it’s in their own best interests to allow for legalized slaughter. This takes us to consider the judicial precedent that allows for it today.
The landmark Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade officially began in Texas in 1970. The case was the cause of activists outside of Texas whose goal was to legalize abortion on demand in all fifty states. They knew they needed a federal case, and they knew how to go about it. Activists/lawyers Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee used the situation of a troubled young pregnant girl named Norma McCorvey (who by the way herself never ended up committing abortion) to take the case to court in Texas against the local district attorney Henry Wade, and then on to the Supreme Court via US court appeals process. Everything the activists knew they needed was present in the life of Norma McCorvey. She was given the alias Jane Roe. In January of 1973 nine “Justices” (in quotes since most of them were anything but) ruled in the case after two separate hearings. The case began with just seven justices on the court but ended up with nine. Six had been selected by Republicans and three were selected by Democrats. Let that tell you something. President Nixon (a Republican) couldn’t get his two appointees confirmed in the senate. After some cowardly flipflopping by some of these “Justices,” they rendered their terrible verdict. Mrs. Joan Ruth Bader Ginsburg was still twenty years out from her nomination to the US Supreme Court at the time. Her fight for abortion on demand as a “Justice” would therefore come later in Roe v. Wade’s wake. In a seven to two split, seven darkened souls ruled that the fourteenth amendment to the US Constitution (adapted in 1868) somehow provided a “right to privacy” for women that grants them rights to abortion without significant government infringement. Associate Justices Byron Wright and William Rehnquist dissented from the other seven “men” and maintain my respect on the matter. The others- Chief “Justice” Warren E. Burger, William O. Douglas, William J. Brennan Jr., Potter Stewart (whose wife worked for Planned Parenthood), Thurgood Marshall, Harry Blackmun (who wrote the majority opinion and whose daughter worked for Planned Parenthood) and Lewis F. Powell Jr. all ruled unjustly. This is the case that opened the door to the wholesale legalization of abortion on demand in the US. It is not law, but it is precedent that denies law by the fallen will of the people. Our laws say don’t murder; abortion just presents an age limit for satisfactoriness by saying it’s ok to kill people who are about nine months old or less. Many states still impose second or third trimester restrictions on abortion, but avoid the significant infringement problem by giving the people what they want in the first trimester. Roughly ten US states, however, now allow for abortion up to the day of birth. We have a serious problem in our land. Mrs. Ginsburg is not “the problem” therefore. She just recently died after all. The problem of abortion is one in the collective heart of my people. I can’t blame Ginsburg for it all. I can’t blame these seven “Justices.” They, like any fallible people, were swayed by the mob. I doubt they could even imagine the black door they were opening. They’re all partly to blame, of course, but it’s a far bigger problem than any or all of them put together. Cases like Webster v. Reproductive Health Services, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, Stenberg v. Carhart, Gonzales v. Carhart, Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt and Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization can be consulted for further rulings and developments since 1973. Though I know she saw it coming from a mile away after the debacles against other Justices, I was stirred last year to hear Justice Amy Coney Barrett (nominated by President Donald Trump in October of 2020) speak about the decision of Roe v. Wade as not being what she called a “Super precedent.” She explained that some matters in US Supreme Court history are super precedents and others are not. She cited how many people (a growing number) dispute abortion or want abortion illegal again, but how no one’s arguing that blacks shouldn’t have equal rights. The latter is a super precedent, the former is not.
At some point something shifted in our culture. We must recover it. Whenever you take down a fence you should ask yourself why someone put it up in the first place. Human life is sacred…babies are humans…ergo babies are sacred. Little babies are humans. At every day in the womb they’re as much human as every day they’re out. Microscopic-sized babies are humans. You, reader, were once microscopic. More on this later. If you survived the holocaust of my land and are alive to read this, you, reader, were once a million times smaller than this next period. Everything in your deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA for short) that made you into you was there at the start when you couldn’t be seen by anyone but the God who I represent in this letter. More on this later. Mankind is created in the image of God, God says. He says life is sacred and to be protected. Mrs. Ginsburg was herself created in the image of God. This is a reality she worked hard, however, to deny for multiplied tens of millions of people. You don’t necessarily have to be a Christian to oppose abortion. One need only not suppress the truth so far down that up has become potato chips to recognize the crime that is ending an innocent human life by disemboweling them. People without an ethical compass pointed “due hell” oppose abortion.
A brief side note about something that’s helped so many of us experience the wonders of parenting. Some people say that the sciences aid us in ethics. I believe that they often can and should. The sciences are all decidedly on the Christian side in all of this, of course. Science can aid a converted soul to God and an unconverted soul elsewhere. Enter the ultrasound. Ultrasounds weren’t commonplace in the early 1970s during the start of Roe v. Wade. Ultrasound imagery bounces ultrasonic sound waves that are above the audible range of our hearing at structures or tissue and maps the echoes as they bounce back. Around 1749, the Italian scientist Spallanzani first postulated that bats navigated in flight by sound and not sight. He noticed how owls wouldn’t fly without light, but that bats would. He literally burned some bats eyes out in darkened rooms, hung wires from the roof with bells on the ends of them and noticed that the bats could still fly around and avoid the wires. This amazing form of precise navigation became known as “Echolocation.” This later led to the invention of things like ultrasound and sonar. Ultrasound has had many functions in many industries. In 1942, a neurologist named Dussik used it in medical diagnostics in looking for brain tumors. Though like all technologies it went through many upgrades, and though the ultrasound didn’t take on wide use in pregnancies until later in the 1970s, by the end of the 1950s in Scotland, doctors first began to use two-dimensional sonograms with their patients. In 1984, Dr. Bernard Nathanson, the man responsible for much of the advancement of abortion in America in the 1970s surrounding Roe v. Wade, in cooperation with the National Right to Life Committee, released the movie the “Silent Scream.” He is said to have seen the error of his wicked ways and repented of it. Sonogram technology helped him see a baby recoil from the murder instruments inserted into a woman to kill him or her. The technology helped him see what he later said he always knew. Many feel it can do the same for most mothers. I happen to agree. In 1986, three-dimensional images of babies were captured at the University of Tokyo. Today, three-dimensional sonograms are available at nearly every corner clinic. I’ll never forget the first time I saw my first kid’s sonogram picture. It was magnificent. It changes things for most people when you see your kid for the first time. And oh, that first night you take them home. It’s just so precious! You get them all settled in their little car seat. Their rooms have been made fully ready. When you get home you’re really home. A life has come into the world. It’s such a gift to parent. Ladies, you’re given this amazing power to grow life inside you. Men can’t do that. You can and it’s incredible. Please don’t consider it a small thing to be able to grow a human life inside you. There’s nothing more amazing that any man could ever do. Today, we can even put live action cameras inside the womb to see a person’s development. There’s no doubt it’s a human being even in the early stages of development whenever you encounter him or her in the womb. Nothing else. Nothing but. Everyone knows this. A form of technology has simply helped us see it earlier.
Because there is such a regular overlap between politics and abortion, let’s consider more on Mrs. Ginsburg and on the kind of political climate she worked in and helped create. She was a native of Brooklyn, NY. She was born in 1933 and died at eighty-seven years old on 18 Sep 20. She has two surviving children and was married to only one man, Martin Ginsburg, from 1954 to his death in 2010. She entered the office of the US Supreme Court on 10 Aug 1993, nominated by former president Bill Clinton. She was nominated ninety-six votes to three. She was educated at Cornell, Harvard and Columbia and no doubt had a keen intellect and several causes she believed in. She swung more liberal during her tenure. She spent twenty-seven years as a supreme court justice working her way into the seat since the 1960s through various other high-profile positions such as on the US Court of Appeals, a position for which one must also be nominated by a sitting president. Abortion was of course not her only cause. She opined on many good causes one need only a cursory glance at to appreciate. Nonetheless, her strong support for the cause of abortion on demand overshadows it all and marks her as a total failure in life. Seriously, what else do you know Jeffrey Dahmer for? I will remember Ginsburg for nothing more than supporting murder. I know that we wrap that turd in silk and call it a fight for equal rights, but we have to be wise as to this trickery. No one should argue against equality. I’m all for women’s rights, just not murder. That’s no one’s right. Ginsburg strongly supported the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v. Wade, but had misgivings about the case. She felt that the case should’ve been wrapped up more around equal rights for women than just a woman’s rights to privacy as the court had focused in 1973. She felt that their position entrenched the case in a lot of irrelevant and unnecessary details ever since.
A nominated lawyer’s stance on Roe v. Wade has served ever since 1973 as a bit of a litmus test for the Supreme Court. Interviewees have either had to support the court’s decision or try to avoid questions about it as much as possible to hope to be confirmed by the senate. My analysis of why this is the case is that the secularization so prominent in our day must determine one’s obedience first to the state and not to God. If you have a law higher than US law, you’re dangerous to the progressive leftist totalitarian mob. They don’t want someone in that job who fears God. At least not someone who fears God more than he or she fears the power of the state.
Abortion literally binds fallen people together like a dogma. It’s like a merit badge to certain people. Our culture is so upside-down, reader, that one’s support of it in positions of power has become the watershed between good and evil. If you’re against it you’re evil, if you’re for it you’re good. You must understand this. This was demonstrated in 2017 by a certain Senator against (now) Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett who in her speeches had voiced her Catholic views on abortion. (Even though I’m a Protestant entirely at odds with Romanism, Catholicism has done much to lead the fight against abortion in the US and around the world and I’m grateful). Again, the litmus of Roe v. Wade was hard at work. This senator said to Barrett: “When you read your speeches, um, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you and that’s of concern when you come to big issues that large numbers of people have fought for for years in this country.” In other words, Americans want to murder their kids. We worship at that altar. Don’t dare oppose that. Abortion is one of our loud-living dogmas. If you have a faith that doesn’t align with our secular one, that’s not okay. If your dogmas are different than ours, we’re in charge and your dogmas are unfit. That’s concerning to this person. In the year she was nominated to the Supreme Court, Mrs. Barrett was questioned far more about Roe v. Wade. She’s now a US Supreme Court Justice.
Another dogma in modern America (especially if you want to lead) is that you can’t believe your religion is actually the only true one. Like that point when you’re pulling a magnet away from its opposite and it just stops pulling, America has pulled away from God publicly. Undermining God’s reality over us all steers us toward a religious relativism that makes abortion just, “Someone else’s truth.” You can’t mean “In Jesus we trust” when you say “In God we trust” anymore. You can’t say you have the only truth. That’s just rude and it doesn’t fit the modern dogma of those who say with certainty that it isn’t true, see? It’s nauseating the way people talk about this, saying that each of us can have our own truth. That’s just not true, but it’s the re-paganized mantra of our people and it’s preached in the halls of a great many businesses too. It feeds directly into the arrogant relativistic abortion mindset today so it’s good to wrap your mind around it. Any true Christian understands that God’s incarnation, death and Resurrection is the only way to the only heaven with the only God. Sorry to the haters, but it’s just what God says. John 14:6; Acts 4:12, etc. Yes, Christianity is an exclusive truth claim. This will not change. Anyone who denies this doesn’t know God’s truth. Period. This is unacceptable for many leaders in the US today, however. You can’t believe what Jesus says today. Never mind if you can believe him and remember that you’re just another citizen in a pluralistic and free setting guaranteed by a Constitution written on the biblical truth that gave rise to that setting and live at peace with and interact with others about it knowing that you’re not God, no, just believe it and you’re unfit. In this secularization or re-paganization of our culture, any exclusive fidelity, especially Christianity, makes one unfit to lead.
One needn’t look any further today to demonstrate this than Senator Bernie Sanders’ interaction in 2017 with Mr. Russell Vought. Vought was nominated by President Trump to become the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Vought ended up holding the position only from July 2020 to January 2021. He wasn’t going to be a Supreme Court Justice or to head of the Department of Justice. He was nominated to help the nation with finance. Yet Sanders went after Vought’s faith with vigor because Vought dared hold to the view that Christianity, not Islam, is a true faith. Though I think freedom of speech intervenes here on Sanders’ behalf, it’s my opinion that Senator Sanders did in fact violate at least the spirit of the US Constitution in this line of questioning. Article six reads that, “No religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” Yet Sanders went after Vought about an article he’d written in defense of a position given by some at Wheaton College, a Christian school Vought had attended. Vought had written: “Muslims do not simply have a deficient theology. They do not know God because they have rejected Jesus Christ his Son, and they stand condemned.” Sanders confronted Vought on this during a congressional hearing and got away with it. The following is a transcript of the discourse provided by the Family Research Council:
Sen. Sanders read the quote above and then asked: “Do you believe that that statement is Islamophobic?”
Mr. Vought: “Absolutely not, Senator. I’m a Christian, and I believe in a Christian set of principles based on my faith…
Sanders: “…Forgive me, we just don’t have a lot of time. Do you believe people in the Muslim religion stand condemned? Is that your view?”
Vought: “Again, Senator, I’m a Christian, and I wrote that piece in accordance with the statement of faith at Wheaton College…”
Sanders: “I understand that. I don’t know how many Muslims there are in America. Maybe a couple million. Are you suggesting that these people stand condemned? What about Jews? Do they stand condemned too?”
Vought: “Senator, I’m a Christian…”
Sanders [shouting]: “I understand you are a Christian, but this country [is] made of people who are not just — I understand that Christianity is the majority religion, but there are other people of different religions in this country and around the world. In your judgment, do you think that people who are not Christians are going to be condemned?”
Vought: “Thank you for probing on that question. As a Christian, I believe that all individuals are made in the image of God and are worthy of dignity and respect regardless of their religious beliefs. I believe that as a Christian that’s how I should treat all individuals…”
Sanders: “…Do you think that’s respectful of other religions?… I would simply say, Mr. Chairman that this nominee is really not someone who this country is supposed to be about.”
Sanders gets to ask any questions he likes, but when his questions deny Christianity for the sake of politics, you’re now in the realm of religion. Bring it, Bernie. Vought played the politics here, I know, but I’d like to say to him here, “Well done, sir.” I understand your positioned answer at that time. You could’ve opened up 1 Corinthians 15 and exposited it, but I’ll settle for this. I can’t speak to all of the man’s beliefs, but he was surely correct here. How dare Sanders set it up as a matter of disrespect to a nation for Vought to affirm the basics of the Faith. Would he do this to a Muslim or to a Jew if they’d written a similar thing in line with their same beliefs? Likely not, but note that last line from Senator Sanders well. If you dare to be a Christian who affirms even basic respectful truths about Jesus’ own teaching, folks like Sanders will say you’re not even American and shouldn’t even help us with our debt. Wow. We wouldn’t say the same back to Mr. Sanders. Bernie Sanders says you’re not what America’s supposed to be about and you shouldn’t lead (even in budgetary planning) if you hold the Christian view that Islam’s a false religion because you have to bow down to Bernie’s gods to be fit to lead. You can’t believe the Bible (or the Qur’an or the Torah) in Bernie’s America, reader. And he was almost president a couple times. He is not alone in this. I want to take a minute to prove that Vought was accurately representing both Christianity (and Islam for that matter) because today the mindset that says you can’t believe Christianity is true anymore operates on the false premises not only that it’s rude (or even un-Christian) to believe you have the only true religion, but that it’s unclear what either the Bible (for Christians) or even the Qur’an (for Muslims) says about it anyway. If we prove that it’s clear, we can show that the political ramblings of folks like Sanders is just empty talk. We can peal back the falsity of relativism in the process just a bit more by exposing reality. Maybe then people like Bernie will learn to leave it up to people with better answers. This helps in every area of life including in our apologetics against abortion. We are woefully uninformed…yet think we’re well informed. It’s like Mark Twain said: “It ain’t the stuff you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s the stuff you know for sure that just ain’t so.” I could consult hundreds of texts, but I’ll reserve myself. There is no gray area in this on either side of the aisle. Many hundreds of years before Muhammed, Jesus clearly said:
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, so that his deeds will not be exposed. But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God. John 3:16-21.
This is in the Bible. I promise. Please check if you’d like. It’s as plain in the original Greek text as it is here in the English. We see here plainly that Jesus the Christ is God the Son, sent by God to save men from sin. What sin? All of us have sinned. Just look at the Ten Commandments and your conscience will bear witness to that fact. If you are not forgiven for your law-breaking (for all of your SIN) by Jesus, you are “judged already” he said. That means that your condemnation from God is only a matter of time. The message of the good news or “Gospel” of Jesus Christ here is that the Son has come. The fact that convicted sinners can settle out of court with God today as a result is great news. Repent of your sins and believe the good news. Christ was punished for all the sins of all the people who would believe on him. He fully delivers his own. 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; John 5:21-24. This is not sentiment. The Son of Man didn’t do this as a way for people to be forgiven. He did it to make the way. John 14:6. We go to present it whether we’re killed or just told we’re not what America’s about. What a horrible insult it is to say it’s only a way to God. This is history with present reality. In another place in the Bible, we read the following very important text given from the Apostle Paul:
Now I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I handed down to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is in vain. Moreover, we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 & 14-17.
Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, died and rose again from the dead. In just these two short passages I’ve shown why we’ve always known that Jesus is the only way to God, and that his life, death and physical Resurrection is everything to our beliefs. Jesus said this is the only way to be not judged for your sin. Again, there are so many texts I could cite. Sorry that you don’t believe this Bernie, but nothing anywhere in the text contradicts this at all. Vought was simply affirming this basic Christian truth against one view (Islam) that denies it. The Bible is clear that there is only one God, Jesus claims to be that God in human form (a member of the Trinity) and so Christianity must be the only true religion on earth. I’m being intentionally brief. I sympathize with anyone who wants to know the only true and living God, but Jesus said he’s the only way to. Jesus says plainly, “…I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6. No one. This is everywhere made clear in the text. Deny any of these things and you deny the Christian religion all together. It’s just the way it is. It can be denied, but please don’t dismiss it. Please don’t say it’s unclear. We cannot any of us believe in Jesus and not affirm these few necessary and clearly cogent things.
Now in one English translation of the Qur’an in “An-Nisa” or “The Women” in surah 4:155-157 we read:
They were condemned for breaking their covenant, rejecting Allah’s signs, killing the prophets unjustly, and for saying, “Our hearts are unreceptive!”—it is Allah Who has sealed their hearts for their disbelief, so they do not believe except for a few—and for their denial and outrageous accusation against Mary, and for boasting, “We killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” But they neither killed nor crucified him—it was only made to appear so. Even those who argue for this crucifixion are in doubt. They have no knowledge whatsoever—only making assumptions. They certainly did not kill him.
The Qur’an plainly says here that Jesus was not crucified. Maybe that it was someone who just resembled him. The author of the book further says here that Paul who I cited above about the Resurrection (in fact all of our New Testament writers who were mostly eyewitnesses of it all) had “no knowledge whatsoever” on the matter they spoke of six hundred years before Muhammed on another continent in another language. In another place in “At-Tawbah” or “The Repentance” in surah 9:30 we read:
The Jews say, “Ezra is the son of Allah,” while the Christians say, “The Messiah is the son of Allah.” Such are their baseless assertions, only parroting the words of earlier disbelievers. May Allah condemn them! How can they be deluded from the truth?
In these two short passages that survived the Uthmanic revision, whoever wrote the Qur’an denies both that Jesus is God the Son and that he died on a cross. He furthermore says we’ll be condemned in our “baseless assertions” by God for believing like “parrots” the falsity of our faith. If Jesus was not killed, he was obviously therefore not Resurrected from the dead. Both Christianity and Islam cannot therefore both be true. That’s what Vought seems to understand. And again, Vought was simply affirming basic Christian truth. Bernie’s just ignorant. Many are. You, however, dear reader, are not. The lines are clear. The propositions are plain. The conclusions are simple. We must deal with things as they are. Two opposite claims can’t both be true. They can only both be false, or only one true. Islam denies the Bible entirely. Islam calls the worship of Jesus blasphemy, denies that Jesus is God the Son, denies that Jesus died on a Cross and rose again from the dead. The Bible claims all of these things without question in a thousand ways. There is only one God and it ain’t Islam’s. Islam is a false religion, not just a somewhat deficient one, and it’s the Muslim who stands condemned by God, as any other person must be who denies these things, in their unforgiven sin. I’m not running for office. Islam denies everything that matters about the Bible in denying these things. Islam too is exclusive…just like all those Sanders-type “inclusivists” who exclude all exclusivists are, but Sanders had the mic and he sets the rules.
Reader, many today are a part of this new arrogant but totally ignorant cultural religion. Naturally, our leaders are therefore as well. We are a re-paganized people. All the altars are rebuilt and then some and abortion is a dogma of the new faith. It is our recent history. It’s a part of our heritage now. We can call today’s allegiance secularism for a reason, but it’s as religious as any other view. Don’t be fooled! We have simply been re-paganized. Our gods call us to do and to obey so many things. The historian Philip Schaff wrote about a Christian from the fourth and fifth centuries named John Chrysostom. Chrysostom lived in the ancient city of Antioch. Read the following and tell me if it sounds at all familiar. Schaff writes:
Chrysostom gives us in his sermons lively pictures of the character of the people and the condition of the church. The prevailing vices even among Christians were avarice, luxury, sensuality, and excessive love of the circus and the theatre. “So great,” he says, “is the depravity of the times, that if a stranger were to compare the precepts of the gospel with the actual practice of society, he would infer that men were not the disciples, but the enemies of Christ…Gibbon thus describes the morals of Antioch: “The warmth of the climate disposed the natives to the most intemperate enjoyment of tranquility and opulence, and the lively licentiousness of the Greeks was blended with the hereditary softness of the Syrians. Fashion was the only law, pleasure the only pursuit, and the splendor of dress and furniture was the only distinction of the citizens of Antioch. The arts of luxury were honored, the serious and manly virtues were the subject of ridicule, and the contempt for female modesty and reverent age announced the universal corruption of the capital of the East. The love of spectacles was the taste, or rather passion of the Syrians; the most skillful artists were procured from the adjacent cities. A considerable share of the revenue was devoted to the public amusements, and the magnificence of the games of the theatre and circus was considered as the happiness and as the glory of Antioch.

History repeats. This is us, my friend, and like the ancient Antiochians we too have our many false gods. And they didn’t even have Starbucks! Our gods are beauty, sex, fame, power, material stuff, “success.” Self. It’s really just that simple. We want Zen even if it means death to others. If a baby threatens our peace today, we have people who can “deal with it” by lunch. Thirty years ago, you could expect that the people you engaged with would’ve heard something better, anything from the Christian worldview, but it’s just not so today. Abortion isn’t a new issue, but it’s at a new level for a reason. We must understand how all these things add up to callous hearts and minds today against the most defenseless among us. Culturally, we are adrift from God today and our dogmas affirm it in myriad ways. If you’re opposed to abortion, you’re unfit to lead today. If you’re a Christian, you’re unfit. The Army has told me this. If you deny the religious maxims of the secular pagans, you’re unfit. It’s going to get worse. Don’t retreat, but don’t deny it either. God always brings the best from the weakest.
Our greatest sin is not loving God. “He has told you, mortal one, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8. This is not us. Sexual immorality has been the chief means of our godlessness. Mark 7:20-23. Undisciplined men will never choose Jesus over sex. Abortion today, on the heels of our chief sin of sexual immorality, is a sure evidence of our re-paganization. It dulls both minds and hearts. It all goes together with a denial of Jesus’ teachings by further untethering our collective mind from the Christian foundations of our society. We are now on the back end of the transition to a post-Christian era. Drag queens are now on Nickelodeon. Pride month is honored. An overweight man pretending to be a woman is now in charge in our government as a United States Assistant Secretary for Health. We’re done for. You don’t think these things all add up as evidences of drift? Of national entropy? Our constant pursuit of pleasures makes us weak just like the ancient Antiochenes. We are the circus. CS Lewis once wrote something fascinating about pleasures. In his book The Weight of Glory and Other Addresses he wrote, “It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” This is my culture. I’m all for lawful pleasures. I’m entirely against unlawful ones. Like those involved in the sexual revolution of the 1960s, the women’s liberation movement of the 1970s, the homosexual revolution of the 1990s, like those “Justices” on the Supreme Court in 1973, Ginsburg, Barrett, Sanders or Vought, you or me, we are all products of our times and teaching. We must meditate on the collective ideas and events that have produced us to understand the pro-choice mindset today.
Like Barrett for the Supreme Court or any other nominated justice, or Vought for his position, Ginsburg too had spoken and written on her beliefs or positions about this or that throughout her career. She was questioned on the basis of some of it just like anyone else. Her views represented a developed ideology. At Ginsburg’s senate confirmation hearing, Senator Hank Brown asked about some of her previous remarks at the New York University School of Law on the limitations of the decision of Roe v. Wade. She was very outspoken, unlike many others, and clarified her abhorrent position at her confirmation saying, “Abortion prohibition by the state controls women and denies them full autonomy and full equality with men.” Ginsburg boldly stated that, “It is essential to woman’s equality with man that she be the decisionmaker, that her choice be controlling,” She told Senators during her four days of questioning by the Senate Judiciary Committee. “If you impose restraints that impede her choice, you are disadvantaging her because of her sex.” This is at the tail end of a lot of societal degradation. By that day, abortion somehow equaled equality. Murder made women equal to men in her eyes. This is terrifying, but it’s exactly what she fought for. Roe v. Wade didn’t go quite far enough in her mind. Again, it’s “choice” in the new religion. And many Christians who are so devoted to the un-biblical idea of man’s absolute autonomy in libertarian free will were caught off guard. How could they argue against free will and choice when they’d been preaching about it themselves for years? I’ve written about this extensively in other letters already and preached about it as well.
Our recent history has led us to a day when our rights are wrongs. When human rights are denied to humans by other humans arbitrarily calling those other humans non-humans on their way to the movie theater, the gym, the stadium or the bedroom. We live in a day when our sexual choices have become a defining characteristic and we are light years away from wisdom and blessing.
Gisburg’s death comes as no surprise, especially after the cancer. Sad. I hate death. My life’s work is bringing God the reward of his suffering by telling people how Jesus gives his people life over death. John 3:16. I preach the Gospel and the full counsel of God. Death is an enemy. Of course, I’m saddened by another person almost surely now in hell for eternity. Of course, I wish I could bring comfort to those who knew her, but comfort can also be dangerous and unholy when it seeks to hide the truth. There’s, “A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.” Ecclesiastes 3:5. I did not know Mrs. Ginsburg, and if I were in a room with her surviving family, of course I would not attack. This is a letter about the truth regarding the depressing current situation of abortion in my country, a milieu I’m in in which Ginsburg played a major role. There is a time to throw stones. There is a time to literally shun the idea of an embrace. Please allow me to offer the standard statement (a reality) that I pray that God had mercy on her. Last minute kind of a thing. Death bed conversion, etc. I do. Of course, that’s always a true sentiment I try to hold out to all as much as possible and/or not contrary to propriety. I hold it out for Adolf Hitler too. (And yes, a comparison can and should be made. It’s not fair to Hitler, but it can be made). I pray that God spared this woman privately (there is no public evidence of it on earth I’ve seen) to lavish his amazing love on her in Christ for all eternity. He would be glorified to do so, by myself and every angel, and I humbly and truly before God can say that I hope for this. I love his mercy and grace, and I know that his capacity for it is far above mine! I pray that Christ died for her and that he has brought her to himself tonight by the same undeserved grace that has by the same Cross saved me from my own sin. I pray that God granted her repentance in a way only to be revealed in glory. But reader, you can’t fight for the immoralities that gave rise to the murder of over 60,000,000 people—even if your argument is just that it’s not a government’s job to protect them—and get away with it before God. You need Jesus if this is you. I pray that God granted her the un-merited grace she needed before shuffling off this mortal coil, but God simply does not call us to place noble sentiments in death above the demonstrated wickedness of one in life. Over such atrocities in this matter of abortion that were clearly and inexcusably hers in life. She was open that she didn’t believe the government had a right to prevent abortion. I partly want to agree because I don’t trust my government and don’t want it involved, but it’s a matter of civic duty on any leader to prevent murder, and that must always trump anyone’s claims to privacy. No one is fit for leadership who doesn’t understand this. Her death does not excuse her life, nor will it for anyone else be they a Supreme Court Justice or anyone else. And I count myself privileged today to say it. “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand…” Psalm 149:6. She was not a believer in Jesus. She was not a good person. Accomplished, smart, convicted, dedicated, sure, but Satan himself can also be described as all these things. She is a symbol for me for the cause of abortion. As I was coming of age, she was in that abominable fight. She stood for a government sanctioned immorality on this matter. Those who find this kind of idea noble are those, at least in some measure, for whom I’m writing this letter to address the wider issue at hand. I’m obviously mainly writing to Christians. I don’t want to talk all that much about Mrs. Ginsburg, but so many people today seem to think about abortion in a manner like hers. It’s a sterile, dusty, bureaucratic, sickening sort of greasy fog that just seems to rest over it all.
We’re distracted from the argument in all our arguments, really. That’s really what it is, I think. If a baby were being disemboweled at our discussion tables, most of us would later have to struggle to remember what our distractions were while we were dialing the police. It’s a morbid view today that’s like watching someone stab someone else violently in ballet moves and calling it graceful. There is nothing good about abortion. Not one single thing. We only say otherwise because we’re talking about something else.
I hear some sad people lamenting the possibility that the infamous Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade will now be somehow overturned after Ginsburg’s death. There is today, after former President Donald Trump’s four years in office, a majority of “conservatives” presently working on the US Supreme Court. For the blessing of my people, I surely hope it is overturned! It will be overturned if science and law demonstrate that life begins when it begins, at conception. I know that Norma McCorvey (AKA Jane Roe who died in 2017) would be glad if it was overturned. She said she was used. Many have said, and I agree, that the Supreme Court’s injustice in the travesty we call Roe v. Wade was nothing but a work of judicial activism. It was a farce with many overlaying agendas in its participants. Remember, the case came in in the wake of the sex and drug revolution of the 1960s. McCorvey regretted what her case came to represent in America. I doubt that it will be overturned anytime soon, but I for one would dance a jig if it was. If Roe v. Wade is revisited and we do better, it needn’t be called a victory for Jesus. It’d be the logical outworking of good science and good law. I’d for one thank Jesus first, but I’d give all credit where it’s due as this isn’t just a matter for the churches. This is for all of us in our country. This subject affects me in many ways personally, as I feel it should impact most people, but I consider myself in this letter doing a duty as 1) a preacher of the Bible. This is just a part of my job. And 2) as an advocate for the lives of kids. I love babies. That’s it. I’m a baby-lover. Perhaps by this writing I can save even just one life in one or two ways. I’m a bit like an un-paid public defender.
A Personal Story
One of the saddest experiences of my life was when I was in command of a company in the US Army preparing to deploy us all to Afghanistan. I had to get myself and roughly two hundred Soldiers and their families ready for nine months overseas. We were deploying on our own without a higher command as a “modular force.” There was so much to do. Training, weapons ranges, classes, teams, licenses, OERs and NCOERs, equipment, family readiness, flights, paperwork galore, gaining command needs, losing command needs, property books in the tens of millions of dollars with tens of thousands of parts, all of it. Some Soldiers needed eyeglasses to be ready. Some needed to update their family care plans. Some I had to remove from military service. Some needed dental work. It was a lot of work that I’m honored to have done with my team, but I was in a lot of prayer I promise you. One day, I was at work down in the motor pool away from my office when I got a phone call from my company first sergeant. “Sir, I have a situation here at the office that needs your attention, can you come back this way?” When I arrived, four people were outside my office door waiting amidst the bustle of the rest of the unit that worked in our headquarters. I opened the door, and they all came in after me and sat down. I leaned to half sit on the front of my desk as the first sergeant quickly shut the door. A young married couple was there. They were both in my company. The wife had just found out that she was pregnant with their first child. Her supervisor had apparently called her that day and discovered she was at the local abortion mill in town. She asked her to wait before making such a decision. To think about it before having an abortion. The soldier agreed to, and they came to talk to me. By the looks on their faces, there were clearly tears shed by them both. The husband was there, the wife, this supervisor and my first sergeant. They were all set to deploy with us within a month or two. I talked about the administrative options I had at my disposal as far as the Army was concerned. I promised them that I could keep them both off the deployment to keep her supported at home. They didn’t have a strong family support structure. I had people on reserve I could easily swap out. I pleaded with them not to have the abortion as much as I could as their commander. After discussing our unit options, I asked them all to step outside except the husband. I sat down with him and pleaded with him further as a man, as a dad and as a husband. I told him that he had a kid now and a wife that it was his duty to protect. I promised him I’d help him and asked him to take her to see a chaplain that I knew nearby. He said they would and left. They went as asked, but I later learned that they didn’t talk to the chaplain at all, which is their right. They literally just went into his office, said hello and left. That was on a Monday, I think. I called him sometime later in the week. I think on Wednesday to check in on them. They had murdered their kid. He had no problem telling me and no remorse in his voice. “We’re fine, sir” he said, like I’d just asked him if he was ok after his electricity had gone out for a half day or something. I told him I’d support them in any way I could, and we hung up. I was disgusted. That next day I cried in both anger and shame alone in my office as I moved her name over to the “deployable” column on my spreadsheet. “Problem solved, right?!” I thought they’d listen after our talk. I had come to know them a bit during my time in the unit. I’d prayed for them for days since they’d come and talked with me. My wife had too. I thanked God that I could be there to hopefully save this life and bless this family as a friend and supportive commander looking out for all three of them. I knew they’d thank me down the road, and I cautiously and naively flirted with visions of a handsome little dude in a baseball jersey or something at like five years old as his dad showed me a picture in joyous thanks for my support those years ago. Captain freaking America had nothing on me! I mean, that’s what soldiers do, right? We save lives! We protect the innocent! Hooah! I knew the love of a father to a kid, and I wanted that for this guy. I didn’t know what they’d do so I cautioned myself in my secret hopes, but I hoped still. But no, they became shameless murderers. Cowards. Proven pagans. And I had to put guns in their bloody hands and actually turn my back to them in a warzone some weeks later! How could I ever trust such horrible people? If they would kill their own kid (triplets if that was what they were pregnant with) then why would I ever think they’d think twice about offing me if it suited them? How is it that I couldn’t call the cops when I knew someone had been murdered? How am I so immersed in a culture where arrests wouldn’t be instantly made for this?! Why did we not grab that “doctor” and put them in a cell immediately?! Why are these murderers free? We have to consider it all. Some soldiers needed a flu shot. Some needed new uniforms or hours on the weapons range. Some needed some extra physical fitness training. Some just needed a little vacation time before we left to get ready. This couple needed to have someone execute their kid. Oh, the wickedness of it! It’s too much at times. I’m overcome in grief by it, and I will never get over the emotional trauma I’ve suffered in this. This little life was nothing to them. Their kid meant more to me than he or she did to them. I loved their kid more than they did. I know that because their life was taken from him or her unjustly that day against only my will. Only God knows whether it was a boy or a girl, but their parents threw them in the trash. God will judge them for it.
To make matters even worse, while we were deployed some months later, I had another Soldier whose wife had a miscarriage. We flew him back on emergency leave to be with her and his other kids when it happened. Why? Because they lost a kid. It was the right thing to do. Oh, the upside-down craziness of a culture so stooped in worship at the feet of Molech that abortion is ok. Leviticus 18:21; 20:2-5. Of a culture so blinded by the incense burned in the worship of themselves that this was ok. The value of those lives were determined only by the want of the two different sets of parents? Who the crap do we think we are?! If I was consistent with the rationale of my day I could’ve just said, “Soldier, report back to your post. It was just a fetus. Just a clump of cells. What’s the problem? It’s not like you lost a baby or anything? Do you cry every time your girl has a period or something? Don’t you know it wasn’t a sentient being? Wipe your face and get back out there.” No, I knew better. This dad was heartbroken for a tragic loss of life and my heart broke for him and his family. I will never forget that experience.
Years after that terrible experience, I became a chaplain in that same United States Army. I did it to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone I could, and to support everyone I could as a Christian. I’ve done memorials for dead babies. I’ve gone into numerous hospital rooms where babies had died in miscarriages. The saddest was one where the dead girl’s big brother was still proud to introduce his little sister to me. He was only about three and wasn’t aware that the hospital was just allowing his parents to hold their dead baby girl for a bit before she was taken away to be buried. As a chaplain, I learned that the Army offers a death gratuity for parents who’ve had miscarriages if their kid was over a certain weight and/or beyond a certain week of gestation. It’s a help to the family to offset costs associated with burying their kids. It’s a good thing we do, but why do we offer this? Because we know it’s a child that was lost. The insurance companies draw lines at weight and weeks of gestation for their bottom lines since tiny remains are easy to dispose of, but we all know it’s a kid that was lost from the start. This is true whether they’re wanted or not.

His treatment of the subject was just marvelous. So richly biblical, thoughtful, and culturally compelling. It was a delightful series, and one worthy of more than just one glance. Dr. Albert Mohler—a leader I trust—is of course very nice in his reflections on Ginsburg. A link to an article from him that in part led to this letter is given at the bottom. I have to add this in here somewhere. I’ve started a hashtag this week that I hope catches on. I call it #andsome. When you celebrate anyone’s life on social media (a spouse, a kid, a friend) add it in there. It just means that we recognize their birth by celebrating “birthdays,” sure, but that we also acknowledge that they were alive for months as pre-borns prior to their birth in the womb. We’re saying that a person is x years old #andsome on their birthday. So, for example, in a few days when one of my daughters turns ten years old, I’ll post the customary adorable photos and say something like, “Our little lady turns ten years old today #andsome. Where does the time go?!” I hope you’ll join me in changing the world (kidding) in this amazing movement. I just hope it angers the pro-death folks a bit while celebrating the reality of our kids, friends and families.
Where We Stand
I must be blunt. Anyone who calls for abortion on demand is not a Christian. This is a divisive issue. It finds a home in my confession of faith under paragraph eight. Converted people have new natures that lead to new realities and confessions. Truth does become realized over time, and in all things we need to be patient with each other, speak of truth, and then see where someone stands with it, but there are standards we must maintain. You can’t murder people, or support people murdering people, and claim fellowship with God and his church. No one close to God can believe it’s okay. Anyone who calls for abortion on demand is not a decent person. Anyone who calls for abortion on demand is evil. It’s spelled e-v-i-l. Murder is evil. This must be said loudly and repeatedly. Period. God hates abortion, and no abortion is in hell, only abortionists. It’s not that I’m saying they’re always nasty, rude or purposefully and vociferously blasphemous people. It goes deeper than that. There’s a lot of deception around the subject as well, but yes, murder is actually still wrong. Cat’s out of the bag now I guess, right? I said it. You still go to hell for unforgiven murder. It seems I’m in the minority here in my archaic position, but I said it. Let the abortion-haters anonymous (AA) meeting now commence. “Hi, I’m Joseph, and I am against murder.” Group: “Hiiii, Joseph.” I believe the fake sanitation of the issue contributes greatly to the apathy of my culture toward abortion. We can’t see it. It’s done behind closed doors. I call on more brave men and women to violate the confidentiality laws of their states to record actual video of the acts and post it everywhere. We needn’t reveal the identities of the guilty, but people need to see the carnage. It needs to make us sick. It won’t stop everyone from endorsing it, but it will stop some. We need to flood people’s eyes with it. No one has the right to murder an innocent human being. No lawyer has the right to say that anyone else has the right to murder an innocent human being. No woman has the right to end a life inside of her. Not your DNA not your choice! Not your DNA not your say! The baby gets to grow up and say, “My DNA my say.” Until they’re old enough to, we must step in for them. No man has the right to encourage or to force a woman to have an abortion. How strange it is that I have to feel like I’m being rude to state this. “It’s my body, my choice” one says. Wrong. If it was your body, you’d be the one who died. That life is entirely its own. He or she has their own DNA. We’ll look at this more later. How dare you claim he or she is yours to do with him or her whatever you want like he or she is some kind of soccer ball. I know what some reading this are thinking: “Oh, you arrogant and narrowminded Christian. You never want to look at things from anyone else’s perspective. You only want to look at the issue from your perspective. You don’t care about these lives after they’re born,” etc., I’ve heard it all. My response: I have purposefully made the perspective of the baby my primary concern. It’s not “potential life” in a woman, it’s life. Continued: I care deeply about lives even after they’re born, but they have to survive first. Continued again: I care about your eternal soul before God enough to engage with you. Continued again: “The same arguments could be made by the Nazis” (begin silent and compassionate stare). Madam, your choice was the sex. I’m not sorry to say that you just shouldn’t get to murder someone because it led to that life in you. You have a responsibility to that life now, and your role is more important than all of us put together. Bottom line is that murder is murder and you have a responsibility now. It came from God, even if in your sin, and you’ve got it now. Own up to your responsibilities! Period. Murder isn’t a good option for you. Your sex life is, but not abortion. And I’m sorry, but it affects us all culturally. If I live next door to a murderer, am I not affected? It is my business. How about if I live next door to a registered pedophile or known arsonist? It affects us all when other lives are lost or damaged. Abortion degrades us all as a people. It is therefore all of our business. I want people free to own up to their responsibilities sexually. Think of the responsibility such a fact alone might engender in the future of our country as we move away from abortion! Especially with the ladies who actually think about this better most times. We need ladies supporting ladies in this more and men supporting men. Abortion is never safe since someone almost always comes out dead. And only a godless government won’t step in to legislate that for everyone involved. That’s the parents and the kids I’m thinking of. If you give people the out of abortion, they take it and it increases the promiscuity which is itself at the heart of the problem. If we take away the murder as an option, it won’t stop everyone, but we will save lives, and that is the job of the government. We must stand against some things if we stand for some things. As Christians, we must stand against abortion loudly and firmly. We must have a zero tolerance policy.
The Culture of Death
A child is aborted roughly every thirty seconds in America. I am traumatized by this reality. Had Mrs. Ginsburg ever been to an abortuary? AKA an abortion clinic? A Planned Parenthood site? She herself had two kids. How could any mother ever support abortion?! Any father?! Have you been to an abortion mill? It’s billion dollar business today, so chances are there’s one not too far from where you are. Have you seen video of even just an abortion procedure demonstrated? Who has seen those little lifeless bodies carried out to be sold for parts or vaccines and walks away in agreement with it? Seen the bodies hacked to pieces and dripping just the small quantities of blood they had in their little hearts as they were just growing up? Had she watched a little life kick from the blade? The safest place on earth should be the womb, but you’re more likely to die there today than anywhere else statistically. Haven’t we all yet imagined in horror the leg-dragging imps who help reassemble all the body parts on a table to make sure that he or she (or they) was (or were) completely removed from the mom? “Yeah doc, she’s all here” they announce as they move to dispose of the little girl or boy.
And these are the body parts not atomized or vacuumed up in another type of abortion. And no, the mom is not to be treated as a victim either. She’s a perpetrator. Part of the shortcomings of many in the pro-life camp is that they don’t speak of the women as perpetrators. Imagine also, as you should, the cowardly excuse for a man sitting in a waiting room playing a game on his phone while he let his child be strangled in the back room? He’s a perpetrator too. “Maybe later we can have one, hun” he says, “but let’s live a little first.” What a mercy of God in this life it would be to such deplorables if God would ever grant them another child. Had Ginsburg (anyone in favor of abortion) not seen a saline solution literally burn a life to death, or seen the dismembering of that innocent human snuffed out by a contract killer? “They can’t feel it” some say. If that was true it’d be a fact of human development, but how would we know for sure anyway? Irrelevant, frankly. People asleep couldn’t feel a bullet to the brain either. Does that make it less murderous? And is murder now okay if a two-year-old has congenital analgesia? They couldn’t feel it. How could anyone not imagine with outrage the stomach-turning psychopath who goes home after dismembering perhaps one to five people in a day to then enjoy a nutritious chicken dinner with their family? You and I must imagine it for others, and it must motivate us to fight. Does it not give you pause to see them at their tables? “How was school today, sweetie?” “Good momma, how was work?” “It was okay. Nothing big happened. Hey, someone’s got a birthday coming up…!” Only a heartless person in every manner of speaking could support that on any level. You have to either be evil or ignorant to not be furious daily at our culture of death. Matthew 5:4. That is derangement and insanity…even if they wear a white coat. It’s nuts. This is far beyond tax collector evil, bro. Like if Jesus spoke of the worst among us today (as he did in his in Matthew 18:17) he’d likely use the clinical abortionists. I’ve seen documentaries narrated by dudes with scary voices about mafia hitmen who hacked up bodies and then went home and helped their kids with homework, and their body counts wouldn’t even come close by comparison to your average abortionist. They say that if you’ve ever swam in the open ocean you’ve swam within some rather close proximity of a killer shark. With the statistical data on abortion today, if you’ve ever gone out in society you’ve likely come closer to a murderer than a killer shark.
This is layers-deep evil today, man. This is now communal evil. We all share in this now as parts of the culture of death. And shame on us all! Babies are torn apart within walking distance of our favorite restaurants depending on your state’s zoning laws. I will never pray the hypocritical, “God bless America” prayer. I will pray, “God bless America…with repentance and shame” because that would in fact be a blessing to us, but collectively we are surely not a blessed people. 60,000,000 plus murders while we take vacations? No way. Our only blessing is that fire and brimstone haven’t poured down on our heads yet. This is likely why I’ll never be invited to pray at the National Day of Prayer, but I’m interested in change, not fakery. Our “Justices” enact injustice at our behest (the Supreme Court is not beyond the reach of public opinion) and our politicians rule as they do because the majority of us want them to. This is federally funded evil now, and no party has put anything close to the emphasis on it that we should demand! Woe to the one who supports it. If that’s you, I won’t spell out the word evil again, but that’s you. I hope I can help you come to recognize it in this letter before it’s too late for you. God says, “He who sins against me injures himself; all those who hate me love death.” Proverbs 8:36. That’s abortion. You are sinning against yourself to affirm it.
We have roughly 330,000,000 people alive in the US today. We’ve aborted over 60,000,000 kids nationwide, and that’s just counting one abortion per act. If a scumbag murders three kids I’m told it’s reported as just one abortion. Rounding up then, counting just one murder as an act of abortion, that’s roughly twenty percent of our population we’ve snuffed out while we watched football. The number we’ve murdered since just 1973 well exceeds the population of the entire western seaboard of the United States and then some. We’ve actually snuffed out the lives of more than the 2019 population total of California, Washington, Oregon and Arizona combined (39.5 million, 7.6 million, 4.2 million and 7.3 million respectively. ‘Merica!? God bless America, right?! And please remember that because of God’s amazing and on-going balancing of the genders (there are only two of course) in the world, about half of those killed were our daughters at 30,000,000, and the other half were our sons at 30,000,000. So much for “women’s rights.” One of the leading causes of death in human history was World War II. It changed the world forever. The world saw how technology could be used to destroy far more than to make alive. An estimated three percent of the world’s population of 1940 died in WWII as either a direct cause of the fighting, or from the resulting conditions that followed. It’s impossible to know for certain and so estimates vary wildly, but I believe a consensus can be given at about 70,000,000. A wave of the Black Plague is estimated at the low end to have killed as many from 1346-1351. In just the US alone, with our currency blasphemously saying “In God We Trust” on it we’ll soon eclipse either of these numbers with the blood of our own innocent boys and girls. Think about that. Abortion in the US may soon become the single leading cause of death in human history. Good job Supreme Court. There’s your legacy, Mrs. Ginsburg. Second place is just the first loser, right?! Had she not considered this? How could she not have? Oh, I don’t put it all on her. Of course not. As I said, RBG is just a symbol.
A Vision for the Future
It would take a million miracles, but God’s done among us more than this sum already to remove slavery, or to establish the rights of women (all of which come from the better elements of the Christianity practiced in the country redeeming the worse parts of it) but I pray that museums are built (perhaps beside most every Walmart) in the US one day that take a paying viewer’s breath away like those in Auschwitz or Flossenburg today do at the conscience-defying recalcitrants in the full color illuminated photos of the singers, “moms,” “dads,” “doctors” in white coats, lawyers and “preachers” who used to endorse abortion on demand. I see pictures of the grandmothers, politicians, smiling receptionists, OB-GYN’s, fuming mad Hollywood actresses and Supreme Court “Justices” who all soullessly supported the factory-like murder of abortion in our day while observing their either federal or high-school allowance level budgetary constraints. I see calligraphized quips on the wall of the by then clearly understood unscrupulous lawyer trick so many bought into in our distracted day to call it “choice” instead of “murder” and thus sneak the cyanide in with the ice cream. I’ve toured several concentration camps in Germany. In iron on the gates of Buchenwald is the German phrase “Arbeit Macht Frei” which means, “Work makes you free.” What a lie it was to ever place it there! I see ironworks on the gates of these museums that read phrases like “Choice” or “Reproductive Rights.” Visitors will weave through countless marble slabs (no names possible) that simply provide a hashmark for the numbers of the dead in the tens of millions all next to the gruesome pics of the decapitated babies named (for effect) “Joey,” “Malcolm” or “Jenny” with the by necessity CGI-generated pictures of what they might have looked like as toddlers inside only a few years if they weren’t dead. We’ll lament our past as a culture who allowed it to happen as ethical “choice” while talking about “black lives mattering” or something, but be grateful we’re no longer so evil. So many dead black baby pictures will be there. Today, blacks in the US account for around 13% of the US population, yet well over 40% of murders by abortion. Black Lives Matter, eh? Sure. I see strollers that need dusting placed for effect behind railings. I see empty swing sets. I see short social media video clips on a loop of girls laughing loudly about their abortions and shouting loudly about them like they were at a rock concert. Gray painted concrete floors would be best. I hear speakers playing repeater sounds of laughter or sweet little baby coos and sobs here and there. I see close up pictures of chubby little hands. I see cribs and twin beds hung from the ceilings. I see stacks of baby shoes the lengths of football fields behind glass and rusty devices once used to snap spinal columns on display to visualize the carnage like Auschwitz uses the hair and shoes of those former victims. It’s a dimly lit and reverent place that many don’t get through, and that every minister and lawyer should tour at least once to remember just how blind and evil a people can be. It is macabre, but not for no reason. It’s to remember! It’s to honor the victims! It’s to say, “Never again!” The videos they repeat as you round dark corners warn you of footage of actual murders being carried out before they restart. They show abortions. People will stand still speechless and nauseous and notice a respect growing within them for those around them as they move along in silence afterward. The men will usually break down first as their God-given role as protectors overwhelms their emotions as they fight to not imagine their own kids being torn apart like that. Many murderers not in prison for it will go through. Former abortionists will give their detailed testimonies. Mothers and fathers of many dead kids will tell their stories. I can see life-sized pictures of little boys in their baseball jerseys, or the girls with hats too big for their adorable little heads in full color photos of what many of those sweet babies may have looked like inside just six years if they weren’t sacrificed in the worship of our nation’s false god of sex. There’ll be listings on the walls of how much cash Planned Parenthood got for each baby part. May the monuments go up in generations to come as they marvel at our blindness like we today look at many in the south and the softer abuses of slavery with utter disbelief. “Shame on them all” they’ll say of us. They’ll rightly ask: “Where in the world were the preachers?” Perhaps quotes from this letter will be hung to show that we weren’t all silent or complicit. I pray these museums will bring a shame to light and praise for the justice that no longer allows it in their day. Amen. Almost everyone then will know how wrong it was. It’ll be Jim Crow laws and abortion laws immortalized as two main examples of what not to be and many will vow to never allow such things again. Our nation’s Constitution will shine brighter. Pictures of Ruth Ginsburg will hang in shame next to photos of the dregs of society like Sarah Weddington, Linda Coffee, Larry Lader, Bernard Nathanson and Margaret Sanger as those of Stalin and Hitler hang in Russia and Germany. It will take a miracle to turn our hearts away from murdering our kids, I know, but I pray to God for it just as my fathers prayed to end slavery. The evils of slavery recall the likes of “men” like Roger Taney and many of the Democrats from the south that fought to keep blacks enslaved, but the William Wilberforces will rise so long as the Gospel is preached…if God wills it. Lord willing it will not take another civil war.
Foundations and Cultural Drift
There is an iceberg truth about the sin of abortion. Its prominence evidences a far wider mass of terrible moral drift. This must change. Shame for sin is a part of repentance, life and joy. Every believer understands this. Shame for sin is a part of waking up in Christ to new reality. At first, it’s entirely new, but as a Christian goes about life as a disciple of God each new year brings with it its own outworking. We are able to regret certain sins more than others, but no sin is okay. People feel shame most when their sins are clearly seen in others. Nations can as well. When the Nazis were put down, there was rejoicing. When the sin of slavery in the US, the abuse of people for their skin color and the love of money, was put down, it led to rejoicing. When abortion is put down, it’ll lead to rejoicing. Not for all, but that’s okay. I want the America that I know it can be and should be if we turn to Christ. We’ve come so far! I don’t trust in “God” as some undefined ism; we must trust in the God of the Bible. Despite the activism of the racists and Critical Race Theory today, I can still work up a love for the idea that is America. It will be freedom and justice for all lived out further if baby murder becomes illegal again. I praise the hand of Jesus’ providence so clearly enshrined over my people today, but just like churches, people groups are also always only one generation away from each’s possible type of apostasy and we have apostatized. I’m well acquainted with Israel’s history in the Old Covenant. I’m very much familiar with New Testament history. I know a good deal of the history of the US. I know much about the history of many European nations, and I even know some of the histories of China and Africa. In every nation, sin abounds. War abounds. No other nation has as much claim to biblical wisdom in its system of government than the US. What really makes us unique on the world stage, I’d say, is our dutiful protection of the church state relationship and our judiciary. We are among the oldest Representative Republics on earth. I look at the foundation laid in the US and I find it wonderful. Every failure to live it out truly is a falling short of the ideals that inspired it in the Protestant Christian Religion in the first place. Have you ever read the Mayflower Compact? Oh, the amazing foundation we’ve now turned from that was so clearly spoken of in the generations at our founding. I’m so sorry about this. I want blessing, not cursing from God. I don’t want people to pretend homosexuality or transgenderism is okay. Read Romans one. Thinking that such is okay is part of the curse of God. God has given us over to this. Everyone knows these things are wrong. We cannot claim ignorance. I don’t want greed to close the eyes of the wealthy anymore. I’m tired of the truism here that the rich get lawyers while the poor get justice. I had some very precious things stolen from me here just this week, but since I’m neither rich nor powerful I don’t expect anyone from the police to really care. I’m up to my elbows in lament that instead of demanding young people to behave sexually and then helping those who still sin in it to get through school, we offer them the knife for their kids. I want a people united in protecting the environment, sure. I hate sex-trafficking and violent crime. I want churches teaching sound doctrine. Ad fontes is a good idea here in both the church to the Scriptures and, thankfully for us in many ways, in the state as well to our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. I want churches doing more work for the poor. I hate the arrogant pride of beauty in people. I want the wonders of capitalism to continue and the “Democratic Socialists” back to school for more history lessons that will teach them better. I want a separate church and state for the sake of both, and most of all I want pulpits filled with the Gospel! It was Alexis De Tocqueville in his inimitable book Democracy in America who toured the US and wrote: “There is no country in the world in which everything can be provided for by the laws, or in which political institutions can prove a substitute for common sense and public morality.” (Chapter Eight. The Executive Power). He was so very correct! Laws on our books can’t replace God’s laws on our minds. Because we now pretend that they can, we are adrift in tangible ideological insanity. We are none of us God, and our additions to God’s rules are subtractions. God’s law has both clarity and heart. In Army operations, we speak about “disciplined initiative” (DI). DI comes from a commander knowing what his right and left limits are for a mission, but not being micromanaged. They are expected and allowed to come up with their own plans of attack for mission accomplishment at their level. They know their people, their equipment and their overall unit readiness better than anyone so they’re better suited for this than anyone above them in the chain of command. A higher commander will write out a “commander’s intent” in a very short (usually just a sentence or two) unit mission statement and provide it to their junior leaders. A desired mission’s end state is usually also close at hand. All commanders then nest their own intent two levels up. DI comes in this as everyone develops their own feasible plans of action to work together to accomplish their higher commander’s intent without being micromanaged. Developing DI allows for greater flexibility and increases lethality and sustainability at every level. Jesus’ commandments are the ultimate DI for the world. For every nation. In every nation among every people, if obeyed, Jesus’ commandments work for the flourishing of that people. Abortion opposes the commandment to love one’s neighbor. Our subordinate governments must nest their intent in God’s law to be successful. When it comes to abortion, of course, we must obey the sixth commandment. We have abandoned this and are adrift. The Nazis had a small holocaust; ours is worse. Without the church, our state is already doomed. There must be a law for our laws. That comes from God. We needn’t establish a state church to have great churches in our states, but the Gospel is our only hope and light. Our laws unrooted are not enough. We need strong churches. In light of all this I see a people at peace with each other in honor of Christ having barbeques I want to hang out at. I see the fourth of July parades with kids just able to be kids and eat the dirt again. I want blessing for my people, and I know the God (the only God) who is full of life’s blessings. But there must be repentance. Oh, may God grant it! The peace that should come from strong churches helping to create stronger people would overflow to everyone, believers and non-believers. We get it right in the church. This bleeds over into every other sphere. We once knew this as a people. Our history makes this clear.
The master stroke in the abortion argument was to call it “choice.” Dr. Sproul will address this in far more depth in the series I’ve recommended already and linked to at the end of this letter. The world and the goats in the church bought it hook, line and sinker. My culture supports abortion today under the banner of “choice.” It’s not “pro-life” v. “pro-death” it’s “pro-life” v. “pro-choice.” Brilliant. Terrible, but brilliant. This is like Stalin naming his newspaper “Pravda.” Pravda means “truth” but everyone in the former Soviet Union knew it was all just lies. Call abortion “choice” led to major drift. How many Americans don’t find “choice” important? Again, forget about the baby’s choice, but let’s ask the “moms” what they want. We all know better, and so today we’re all up to our stomachs in blood. Like those who claimed they didn’t know what was happening in the camps across Germany and Poland, we act like we don’t know what’s going on inside those abortuaries, but we all do. We preachers especially have a load to bear in this if we’re silent. Acts 20:26-27. And perhaps one day some good leader will make us all go out and bury the dead like Eisenhower did the Germans. The bodies are hip deep already. We have lost our fight because we’ve lost sight of the target. “Choice” has made no one guilty. “Murder” does. We must fight because murdering the innocent was never someone’s lawful choice. If some Canadians were murdering innocent Washingtonians, even really young or tiny ones, I don’t think it’d be wrong to fight Canadians, would it? We’d have the victims, and we’d have the guilty. If some Texans began slaughtering some innocent Mexicans, it would not be wrong to fight those Texans. We’d have the victims, and we’d have the guilty. When Muslim armies had conquered their lands, then Israel’s, then began across the south of the Mediterranean world and much of its north, it was not wrong for Europeans to fight back in the crusades. When the Japanese were killing the Chinese and then attacked the US at Pearl Harbor, it was not cowardly to fight back. Perhaps I’m just too cowardly to not fight the abortionist, but I’m not. Justice must prevail, but we’re talking about sexually immoral people, about reluctant moms and dads as the real enemies here, not some uniformed force. This fight is different, therefore. It’s guerrilla warfare or counter insurgency, and the Gospel is how we will win the fight. Government intervention is not ultimately the answer. I’ve never seen an abortion with my own eyes. This is partly, I think, why I don’t fight it enough. People who’ve seen rape (or maybe even suffered it) fight it the most. I’ve heard the testimony of women who survived abortion. (See additional resources at the end of the letter for one link to one). People who’ve seen abuses often fight them best. Those who survived the racist south spoke best against it. People rescued from sex-trafficking or the pornographic racket make its best enemies. The most decorated veterans in wartime are most often those least eager to rush back into the fray yet remain the best suited to do so. If we could hear the gruesome suction and see the blood splashing in the jar. If we could see the ladies convulse and the baby body parts. If our stomachs turned that the abortionist left a half-eaten sandwich in his office to snuff out the life from 1315-1345. If the rotting smells of the body parts on the tables and in the trash met our nose and we could hear the sawing sounds, I’m sure more people would fight. Parents would rise up if they saw the kids dying! I must also add that if you’re that “parent” who advocated for “what’s best for your kid” in abortion, or that “preacher” or governmental leader who “had it done” to safe face for your position, shame on you. Repent or perish. I think people should get more footage out. More footage and more photos. This is why I added in the images in this letter. The body parts dealers will fight it in court, but they’re the enemy anyway. People don’t see it and so we imagine it as something done “humanely” or “safe.” It’s not safe! Someone almost always comes out dead! No one rightly calls the American boys who went to Europe to fight “cowards.” Allies included. People were dying. The problem was metastasizing. They had to go. So, what about us and the little people dying in the abortuaries in our cities every day? People who don’t exactly look like us are dying in droves. Is that why we’re so indifferent? Do we not care maybe because they’re just so very young? Because they have no voice? Will we not fight for them with the Gospel? Will we not speak out? Will we not be willing to lose friends or jobs over this? If not, I say that we’re in far too many ways complicit in their deaths. And God has something to say about the cowardly or the fearful, preacher. Revelation 21:8. Where is our biblical foundation as a people? Surely, we cannot speak of it with a straight face while abortion is happening like this. It’s all of us in the US to some extent who do not fight who are guilty for it. We want it as a people or we’d stop it. Politicians will say whatever keeps their elections coming. Many hireling preachers will say whatever keeps their coffers full. The rampant sin of abortion in our culture today (with its constituent idolatries) makes saying, “God bless America”-unless we add “with repentance”- an insult to a holy God. We don’t need perfection, of course, but I do suggest that we’d have to come in short of a million unjust murders a year. I want prayer without hypocrisy, dear reader. Perhaps we need to see abortion before we ever can. We must fight. The soul of our people is rotting.
The issue of abortion is not a new issue it’s just that we’re I hope waking up to it. I’m ashamed to say personally that it wasn’t a major issue for me all of my Christian life, which has been roughly the last twenty of my forty-three years #andsome on earth. Abortion is not a new issue. I’ve already talked in depth here about the 1973 terrorist attack called Roe v. Wade. It’s not new in the US. It’s not new on the world stage either. Very early on, Christians were known to rescue babies in the streets of Rome that had been left out in the elements for the feral animals of the city to, “Take care of.” I’ve read missionary stories in India about kids being left out in fields to be eaten by white ants. In ancient Israel, offerings to the god Molech was synonymous with child sacrifice. It’s not new. Since abortion became the desire of my people it’s only gotten worse, and America is a huge nation today. Neither Republicans nor Democrats nor anyone else have put the proper emphasis on the matter to end abortion as any party should. When Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was being grilled in 1991 after George H. Bush nominated him to the Supreme Court, liberals went after Thomas principally to oust him for his stance on abortion. It was much of what mattered to the Democrats in charge of the senate. It was despicable. Nearly thirty years ago, baby slaughter was already the talk of the town. It’s now just a sad part of who we are as a people, but God will not be mocked. We are already reaping what we’ve sown.
The United States Constitution was created in 1787 and ratified the following year. It is the supreme document of our land. It’s our disciplined initiative under God’s law. Its preamble reads, “We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” This is just what’s on paper. Let this sink in: we must defend our posterity from their parents. It’s come to that after 60,000,000 some deaths. How sad! People use many arguments. I do not see the solution to abortion as a political one, but our government today clearly fails to perform its Constitutional duty to protect kids, our littlest citizens, as it should. We as a people do not uphold the values enshrined in our own Constitution for our posterity. Strangely, they’d perform their duties for people who weigh twelve pounds or so, but not for people who weigh one-third of a pound. This must change. Consider this: article 2.1a of the US Constitution states: “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President…” Where you’re born determines this. If the child of an American couple in 1805 was conceived on a six-month trip throughout Europe, but still born in the US, the child would be eligible to be its president thirty-five years later (Ibid. 2.1b). If they were born overseas, depending on international law, their citizenship may be dual, or it may be in that foreign country and it’s likely they couldn’t be a US president. This so-called, “Natural Born Citizen Clause” isn’t exclusive to the United States. Albania, Angola, Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Finland, Ghana, Honduras, Kenya, Liberia, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Syria, Uganda, Uruguay and Venezuela all have a similar law. What kind of a confused person says that one’s location at the instant of their birth determines one’s citizenship for life and eligibility to become president, but that just five hours before you’re born, inside the womb, you’re not protected by the laws of that same land? How can our lawmakers today not see and demand this? No reader, the un-born has rights too. They should anyway. Parents can be sued by their own kids in many states and at very young ages, but we must be the voices for the unborn. The Constitution says that the nation’s leaders must protect life. This part is simple. One way we as a constituted people can prevent the murder of the un-born is to make it illegal. It is a civic duty of government and law enforcement to outlaw murder under the Constitution. Privacy rights, like freedom of expression, cannot and should not trump personal safety. Claims to equal rights also cannot trump personal safety.
The Declaration of Independence of 1776 says just after its opening: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. — That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men…” Such beliefs are clearly why the US Constitution was also later written. This should always have meant blacks too, and surely would have had this nation been formed differently. The generation of our founding fathers inherited the wickedness of that generation’s form of slavery. But many of them began to fight it very early on. As early as 1777, Vermont’s constitution partially banned slavery freeing women and men over ages 18 and 21, respectively. In 1780, Pennsylvania passed an act to free all the kids of slaves. In 1783, Massachusetts’ supreme court freed all its slaves calling slavery unconstitutional. New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island soon followed suit. In 1787, the Northwest Ordinance outlawed slavery in the modern states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin by instituting a major provision prohibiting enslavement north of the Ohio River. In 1794, the Slave Trade Act banned all American ships from the trade. By 1800, all American citizens were prevented from investing in the slave trade. In 1804, New Jersey banned slavery. In 1806, Jefferson called on Congress to criminalize slavery as a violation of “human rights.” By 1808, you could no longer import or export slaves. This is all within about thirty years of our official Declaration of Independence as our loose federation was forming, and all long before the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. Anyone today saying, “All whites are racist” as the modern CRT racists assert forgets that little thing called the American Civil War (in which roughly 2% of the US population or 620,000 men lost their lives) fighting primarily over slavery from April 12, 1861 through May 9, 1865. I’m saddened at stories of racism in my nation up until far more recent than these dates and cannot understand why the Civil Rights Movement was still winning what was fought for a hundred years earlier, but I agree with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as he said in the 2020 documentary of his life and views called, “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words” when he said that he too would always read those beautiful words in the Declaration of Independence and realize that the failures of many in the US to live them out in the sins of slavery were not a failure in the truths of the document, but in those who claimed to uphold it. (Please note that this documentary was pulled by some totalitarians soon after it was released, and during black history month no less, but I’m sure it’s available to you if you search for it). This statement from the Declaration is true of blacks. It should be true of unborn children today too, our nation’s new true lowest class. Many today of many ethnicities treat the unborn of every ethnicity as bad or worse than any slaves were ever treated. It’s simple. Babies too have the right to life. Our documents enshrine it. Period. But we break the law for sex. Not love, sex.
Abortion just since 1973 in the US is a significantly bigger problem than any form of slavery any nation in the world practiced in history, and even in the Transatlantic Slave Trade (TST) from 1501 to 1867 that we westerners naturally think of today the moment we think of slavery. In the US since 73, we’ve killed over sixty million innocent people to support our lifestyle. Our victims don’t bring us our sugar or our cotton today, they just don’t take it from our mouths or closets. We are so much better today than those slave owners before us. The US actually only shared in a tiny portion of the TST. According to David Eltis and David Richardson in the highly acclaimed Atlas of the Transatlantic Slave Trade published by Yale University Press in 2015, the United States imported 305,800 slaves. Most went to the Carolinas or Georgia. Almost all came from the western coast of Africa. Where did the rest get sent? Portugal/Brazil: 5,849,300; Great Britain: 3,259,900; France: 1,380,970; Spain/Uruguay: 1,060,900; Netherlands: 555,300; Baltic States: 110,400. In fact, of the 12,521,000 total documented slave embarkations from Africa during the three hundred and sixty-six years of the TST travesty, the US received only .02%. Now, this is just one source, but it’s a touted one. I’m glad Christianity ended that slavery in the US so quickly. I can’t understand how it ever began. But according to our history, the US alone exterminates 1,250,000 babies a year in abortion (60,000,000/48). That’s the approximate number of victims divided by just the forty-eight years since wholesale (for profit) murder became “legal” in the US with Roe v. Wade. At that rate, if abortion persists as long as the Transatlantic slave trade did, we’ll murder 457,500,000 young people by 2339. 2021 US Population: 332,525,437.
Our Declaration calls for the governmental protection of life and yet some like Ginsburg actually twist it to make abortion ethical and one’s private choice to help them succeed in life. Again, there are many arguments used. How did we ever get so far from wisdom and decency? When did we as a people ever declare that we outright despise justice?! Imagine a slave owner strangling a slave shouting, “My body, my choice.” Our sin in abortion is far worse in this in that we have failed to learn from our history that people are people. What lawyer would you respect that then wants to argue distracting points like private property rights? You’d see right through it…unless you’re a pro-abort. Then you have to support that act if indeed the popular opinion was that “it” was in fact only his property, hence in fact his body. If you’re a woman and you chant the “My body, my choice” slogan I’ll fight that just like I’d fight that slave owner. Fighting you is the right thing to do. It’s not your body; it’s hers or his. They have no choice but to be where they are right now, but you did. It’s not the end of your life. In fact, one has just begun and I want to help you if you need it, but abortion is not an option. Every police officer and every judge should enforce what I’m saying. Abortion, yes, should actually be illegal. Perhaps not tomorrow (for moms and dads) since we need the culture to change, but very soon. And the act of providing an abortion should be made illegal tomorrow. We just cannot go on like this! No matter the victim’s age, it should be illegal in all fifty states to murder an innocent person. Only a tasteless culture would be shocked at what I just said yet agree with me if I was talking about toddlers, teenagers or puppies that were similarly being murdered. Who would say it’s wrong of me to talk about imprisoning for life or ending a person’s life through legal means who was found guilty of murdering two-hundred people between the ages of ten and seventeen? But babies? nah, we’re cool with that as the “doctors” keep adding the notches to their belts in that billion dollar industry.
“They’re not viable” or “Not people because they haven’t lived yet.” I hear these arguments a lot. Most of the time in fact. People just repeat lines like Jehovah’s Witnesses. “They’re not sentient, and they can’t live outside the womb.” This is a very common argument nowadays. But if my eye sees is it not functioning as expected? Is an eye ever expected to smell in a man? If my ears hear are they not doing what we expect them to? If my lungs cycle air, my veins transport blood, etc. are they not carrying out what my cellular information dictated to them in a most basic yet still amazingly complex intelligence? My brain controls my functions now, but before it was made, like light before the sun, a qualitatively lower level of sentience was at work in me before my brain’s was. And since my brain continues to develop I’m told well into adulthood, the process continued from hour one for roughly twenty years. And these are all highly complex organisms mind you that defy Darwin’s propositions of successive slight modifications and disprove his theory. Down to the smallest quarks found in me, to the smallest proteins, am I not naturally speaking simply a collection of individual sentients at work together? From one to one trillion cells, I’m still just me. Like an airplane I’m made up of a million different parts and not one of them flies. Is a human cell expected to do anything other than what a cell does? No. It has a certain functional expectation with its constituent parts each even having their own unique individual functions within it. If we then scale back our definition of sentience, it’s just a matter of expected functionality? So are the cells in me from conception not “sentient” on their levels if they perform as cells should? Is this not a biological item’s only test? A cell isn’t expected to be anything but what it is, and to perform the functions we can say cells perform. If just one cell was all of me at conception then was I in that state not entirely sentient on that first level from the very start? If a cell, by its designed processes, can only do what cells do, then the moment I have my very first one I’m absolutely sentient. I’m not yet functioning as I will, or as self-aware as I will be, but I’m thinking of smaller works. Perhaps my cells once dreamt at night of what I’d later look like. More to follow on this later. How foul an argument is it for abortion to say it’s okay if the kid is too young to be aware or can’t survive if you take them from the safe environment where they’d need to be to grow up anyway! Let me put you in an environment in which you should not be expected to maintain yourself, like the middle of the Pacific Ocean or the Sahara Desert and let’s see about the level of your “viability.” Clearly a baby can’t be expected to exist outside of a womb until a certain point. My thirteen-year-old daughter the other day, as we were discussing the heinousness of abortion as a family, said that people who make this argument are like people who stop a two-hour movie halfway through it and then complain that they don’t know how things ended up. Only a trickster would make such an argument anyway. You should be in prison for the rest of your life for committing an abortion if you’ve done so, but I’m aware that we’ve a generation of people today duped to sleep on the matter by a great evil. By the Mrs. Ginsburgs and their calcifying jargon. We should make it illegal to provide abortion at any time tomorrow and offer help to pregnant women who aren’t ready for their kids. It should then be made illegal to seek an abortion after a few more years. It is nothing short of premeditated homicide with malice aforethought to have an abortion yet half the people I meet wholeheartedly call for it. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am. If drinking and driving results in a death, we don’t excuse the death. If sexual promiscuity produces a life, we shouldn’t end the life of the baby. Abortion is really a sex issue, and I’m all for holding people accountable for their choices. That’s called being an adult. Married couples ready for kids rarely murder them. It should be illegal at every week of life today as chronology teaches us that we’re all just a matter of minutes old, just like the unborn, but my people are cut off in the heart worshipping their Molech. They cannot and will not see.
Part of my Christian faith is to love you in telling the truth as clearly as I can type. I get to preach in a few hours, but I can’t sleep. I’m neither unkind nor ungodly for saying that it’s wrong to murder and that God hates it. And remember, no “abortion” goes to hell, only unrepentant “abortionists” do. Someone reading this may have had an abortion? Some would say that therefore I shouldn’t speak so harshly, but I’m not sorry to. At roughly 60,000,000 murders it’s just time to tell people the deal. Yes, there’s grace with God for those who’ve committed abortion (or those culturally induced to it by the sirens of sex) but I’m writing for many reasons. One is to call for repentance. Ruth Ginsburg seems to have died without it. She was a part of governmental blindness denying life to literally tens of millions of people. I pray you don’t die like her.
Arguments and Foundations
The layers of deceit at work in the abortion argument today are so entrenched they’re difficult to approach for any sane person, but we must try because we love people. This matter will kill many eternally, so the only loving thing to do if we’re to be good ambassadors is to fight for them. Investigators interview men like Ted Bundy or Charles Manson to gain insight. To try to enter into their ways of thinking to better combat their evils elsewhere. I begin this portion by adding in quickly that love is not enough. Love is our motivator, not merely some endgame. Scripture commands us to fight. Our enemy is not really the pro-choicer. It is the evil that motivates their position. I cited this passage once near the start, but please listen again to Paul’s words on this matter: “The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. Was this written about abortion? No, but it’s directly applicable. Through apologetics we must fight the evil position of abortion. It’s a stronghold. A wall we must pull down through better argument. Then we can and should also seek to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We can never underestimate the monetary motivation of the modern abortion industry. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. This is true in abortion, sex, pornography, slavery, prostitution, politics, child sex trafficking, mega church millionaires and more. I’ll cite this passage from Paul to Timothy in full elsewhere I’m sure. We’re talking billions and that’s just from abortion itself. If you toss in the proceeds from other “reproductive healthcare” items on top of abortions your profits are through the roof. You can even begin to offer discount promos for your repeat customers. We’ve all seen shows or heard stories about folks who’ve plotted to kill people for some pretty paltry dollar amounts. We’re talking billions of dollars here in abortion. Billions with a “b.” Never underestimate this as a cause for why it’s so prominent. This may not be the reasons your average teenager gives for his advocacy for abortion, but it’s surely motivating to the scumbags providing the dastardly services.
They are often rather demented arguments, but to them, their arguments seem logical. Like the man in the asylum today who’s convinced that he’s Napoleon, the abortion advocate has often actually convinced themselves that science and reason are on their side. As you delve into the mind of a “pro-choice” advocate be warned, it can be dangerous. It affects us. It stains us, but no one can help someone better than one who’s tried to come along side someone else. No one rescues kids from sex-trafficking without losing at least some of their “faith in humanity.” No one, other than abusers, listens to stories of child abuse for long without their hearts getting stomped on in the process. It’s hard and it’s often dangerous. It affects you when someone you talk to thinks abortion is a good thing. Like that 2010 movie Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio, when you start to go layers deep into someone else’s reality-if it’s twisted- it can affect you. Be careful. Be prayerful. The lawyers who fought against the sickening pedophilia so prominent in the Roman Catholic priesthood suffered by the testimonies they had to hear from all the abused boys. Soldiers come home from war deeply scarred in more ways than one. When we dive into the mind of someone convinced it’s their sacred right to violently murder someone else it’s a mindset hard to try to objectively rationalize, and it’s hard to not see the dark side of the human mind as simply incorrigible. Not all the arguments for harming little babies are the same, granted, but they do seem to follow one main tenet today. It’s about a selfish sense of freedom. The “logic” is hard to rationalize. To understand the mind of your average pro-choice person, you must consider the layers of brainwashing and fear that have gone into the matter. You have to try to understand their world a bit. Otherwise, it just becomes one opinion against another while innocent people die.
The rights and honor of all women as fellow image bearers of God are to be considered chiefly in all of this. My work here is to honor women. Murderers are not honorable. I want a culture of better women. Same goes for the men. Though it’s most often mere tactics used as what we soldiers call a feint, I will briefly address the questions of abortion in the cases of life of the mother, rape or incest. I’ll go last to first. 1). Incest is something clearly prohibited by God. Leviticus 18:6 says, “None of you shall approach any blood relative of his to uncover nakedness; I am the Lord.” To “uncover nakedness” is a well-established Bible phrase talking about sex. The whole of the chapter covers much more. Leviticus 20:12 also prohibits sexual intimacy among in-laws. Sorry Muhammed, I know you claimed to uphold the Torah, but you don’t get to take Zaynab bint Jash, your adopted son’s wife as your own wife, no matter how pretty she was. But I digress. Paul said even people not given the Mosaic Law know that it’s whack to be with one’s father’s wife in 1 Corinthians 5:1. Eve was made from Adam. They were not made of a common set of parents. Their relations were therefore not even possibly incestual. It was from one blood, however, Adam’s, that God desired to make us all. Hence there were no other partners available to the first people than those born from Adam and Eve. They had many children and Cain married a distant cousin. By the time of the flood of Noah’s day, the eight saved beyond it were not incestual. Incest was forbidden later in human development after God’s common origin design was completed. 2). If a man impregnates a daughter or daughter-in-law in rape he deserves death, but the baby does not. Any rapist deserves death, but not the baby. In Deuteronomy 22:25-26 we read: “If a man finds a girl who is betrothed in the field, and the man seizes her and rapes her, then only the man who raped her shall die. And you are not to do anything to the girl; there is no sin in the girl worthy of death, for just as a man rises against his neighbor and murders him, so is this case.” Rape, like murder, calls for the rapist’s death. This is justice and I support it. And the following verses, far from endorsing rape as the atheistic eisegetes purport, protect young girls from abuse. In those few next passages it’s consensual sex, not forced, and it keeps men from, “Getting what they want” with girls. They’re to be married if there’s sex. The man is committed and doesn’t get to just, “Hit it and quit it” as the vagabonds say today. It protects women…as they should always be. 3). If a mother’s life is at risk in pregnancy everything should be done to protect both lives up to the very last moment. But this just isn’t really much of a problem. Again, this is a feint. It’s a fake attack one might enact against an enemy to distract them from your actual plan of attack. Here are just a few quotes from some informed folks (some are abortionists) on the matter of life of the mother and pregnancy-
Protection of the life of the mother as an excuse for an abortion is a smoke screen. In my thirty-six years in pediatric surgery I have never known of one instance where the child had to be aborted to save the mother’s life. …If, toward the end of the pregnancy complications arise that threaten the mother’s health, he will take the child by inducing labor or performing a Caesarean section. His intention is still to save the life of both the mother and the baby. The baby will be premature and perhaps immature depending on the length of gestation. Because it has suddenly been taken out of the protective womb, it may encounter threats to its survival. The baby is never wilfully destroyed because the mother’s life is in danger. (US Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, M.D., as told to Dick Bohrer, in Moody Monthly. May 1980).
Today it is possible for almost any patient to be brought through pregnancy alive, unless she suffers from a fatal illness such as cancer or leukemia, and, if so, abortion would be unlikely to prolong, much less save, life. (Alan F. Guttmacher, M.D., The father of Planned Parenthood in Abortion – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow in The Case for Legalized Abortion Now. Berkeley, California. Diablo Press. 1967). Note the date here. If this was true in the late 60s how much more certain is it today?
With diseases like lupus, multiple sclerosis, even breast cancer, the chance that pregnancy will make the disease worse is no greater than the chance that the disease will either stay the same or improve. And medical technology has advanced to a point where even women with diabetes and kidney disease can be seen through a pregnancy safely by a doctor who knows what he or she is doing. We’ve come a long way since my mother’s time… The idea of abortion to save the mother’s life is something that people cling to because it sounds noble and pure — but medically speaking, it probably doesn’t exist. It’s a real stretch of our thinking. (Don Sloan, M.D. and Paula Hartz, Choice: A Doctor’s Experience with the Abortion Dilemma. New York: International Publishers, 2nd edition. 2002. page 46).
We affirm that there are no medical circumstances justifying direct abortion, that is, no circumstances in which the life of a mother may only be saved by directly terminating the life of her unborn child. (John Bonner, Eamon O’Dwyer, David Jenkins, Kieran O’Driscoll and Julia Vaughan in, “Statement by Obstetricians.” The Irish Times. 1 April 1992).
I have found this to be true in my many conversations with people. No one can tell me of a time when a baby’s life demanded the death of the mother. Women may sadly die in childbirth, but it’s not something a doctor can predict with certainty. That’s something we really only see in Hollywood. There is almost no weight to the life of the mother argument for abortion. Certainly not in our day. For many pro-abort medical peoples, they’ll use mental anxiety to substantiate life of the mother arguments anyway.
In any case, issues of rape, incest or a mother’s life are not the real issue. Nearly all abortions are mere matters of convenience and everyone knows it. I briefly give attention to these matters, however, because as Christians we should affirm the terrible trials of the women who’ve suffered for the sexual sins of some “men.” We need to come alongside these women and tell them that these traumas (these sins against them) are not what has to define them forever. We can tell the kids that too. It’s certainly no option to murder the kids. What kind of a wicked person wants to add murder to a victim of rape or incest? The babies within the woman are lives to be protected. The decision to not abort them will not make the activists today happy. I know. I just don’t care. We can’t care for those who want to murder people, but we can care for the ladies affected by these egregious sins. If the “men” who commit them aren’t killed, they must at least be incarcerated. And their kids must be protected. The last thing I’ll say here is that in the Christian Faith, mothers found in the terrible circumstances mentioned here have a tough but unique opportunity to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way incomparable. People sin, but a woman pregnant with a baby conceived in rape or incest has a chance to show the world that love overcomes. Jesus died for guilty people, not good people. God’s plans for the world will bring good to light over all the evil. What a witness it would be for a mother to display the surpassing love of God to her child. The man should die, even if he’s brought to repentance, but the woman and the child should live. The child should not be murdered for the sins of his or her father. Period. Yes, it would be unimaginably hard, but what I’m saying is only made more true in the depth of this. Adoption should also be funded and spoken of by people in that woman’s life. Abortion must stop being an option. That takes care of nothing. It just makes a rape victim a murderer. A murderer of her own kid. That’s not a good option except maybe for the rapist or the incestual rapist. Abortion provides an “out” for the sexual sins of both men and women. Rapists and incestual rapists go free often today because, well, the kid’s gone so let’s just move on. This is horrible tyranny. No, I say hold the men accountable and support the women and the children in every way we can.
When you try to help someone in an issue, a good counselor will almost immediately realize their internal advocacy for them. You want to get inside their issue as much as is beneficial to help them through it. You want empathy. It’s human to do this. I was once lost in a world of darkness and thank God for those who worked to come along side me. When a person high on methamphetamines argues that it makes them happy, but you can see their physical form wasting away in front of you, if you care about them, you want to identify with them as much as possible to help them in every way you can. When an alcoholic is losing his family and the family plans an intervention, that alcoholic’s logic for why they do what they do, to them, is as reasonable as the argument for gravity. It’s not reasonable and it’s even physically self-destructive, but not to them. You see something they don’t and you will immediately sympathize with them if you care for them. As a Christian, I understand that sin is primarily an issue between God and a person. Hence, my only criteria for whether or not something is wrong is not just the question, “Does it hurt anyone else?” Sin hurts the sinner whether it hurts anyone else or not. As a Christian I know that they may not see it, but that I can. Homosexuality or fornication, for example, may not physically hurt anyone else, but they spiritually kill the participants. They defile a person. In the case of abortion, we do well to identify the effects both between God and the perpetrator, and those of the perpetrator and the human victim(s). This makes counseling it distinctly hard and something only the spiritual person is truly equipped to do. When trying to understand the position of the pro-choice advocate today, the dynamics of it get a bit more difficult than just one’s alcoholism or drug use. Those actions usually impact those around them, but the actions of abortion often involve others no longer alive to voice their opinion. It involves paid parties whose vested interests are in things like confidentiality and discretion. Abortion involves a question of morality that makes simple advocacy insufficient.
Everyone has their presuppositions, and we are all shaped by our experiences. As a Christian, I surely have mine too. I’m entirely unafraid to say that I’m biased by my biblical worldview now. I’ve tested it too much to really doubt it after two decades. Scripture (the Bible’s sixty-six books) are “inspired.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21. They are inspired and sufficient in my reasoning. I’ve written and preached much on this and won’t delve into it here in any depth, but sufficed to say that when Moses, a prophet of God says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” it becomes a presupposition for me that I’m fine with. And the sciences I’ve encountered have only aided my trust in that presupposition. I hold to certain views for many specific reasons. As a Christian (a Reformed Baptist to be specific) this doesn’t mean that I can’t reasonably consider anyone else’s worldview or respect it, it’s just that logic always demands decisions, and I’ve made many after my many years of considering things as I too, like you, travel around the sun annually in God’s universe. Christianity is like the sun and by the truth of Jesus’ words I can see everything in its natural light. It is the only true religion on the planet, and I for one fully understand why. I’m not saying that all of my argumentation hinges on your acquiescence to these facts, but here’s what I’ve come to see after decades of discussion and debate: no one is neutral. No one is unbiased. The sooner you recognize this of yourself the better. You, reader, are not un-biased. No one is. You may have a polished phrase on standby to say to someone why you’re not biased in your opinions, but you too- like me- have been shaped in your life to think and act as you do. You too have presuppositions that you operate under. If you claim you have a position and deny any biases you’ve deceived yourself. Bias is not necessarily evil or wrong. We all today deal with the same world and its facts from our own individual foxholes, experiences, thinking, from what our parents said or did, etc. We all make assumptions and conclusions that are subject to correction. But ethics is tricky. All this is true, of course, for everyone except those dead by abortion like this little boy or girl in this picture. But I digress. Some of us have worked in cutting edge laboratories, some have fought wars, some have taught kids in a classroom, some are in prison. Your average pro-choice advocate today has been pumped full of sound bite length arguments squarely based on at least a few entrenched positions already presupposed. Peer reviewing today is hilariously overrated. And never underestimate the drive to “Just be normal” no matter what normal looks like. Our presuppositions carry on in others. This is natural and inevitable in most respects. It doesn’t make them right, but it doesn’t make them necessarily wrong either. We are all collective products of our day. No one can deny the influence of modern cinema. It’s a powerful medium. No one can deny the influence of the singers and song writers of the 1950s and 60s on American culture. No one can deny the effect of the book writers throughout history. No one can deny the impact of athletes in cultures that champion athletics. No one can deny the impact of the wealthy in a society. No one can deny the effect of Darwin’s thinking today in his natural selection proposals. The way many in our culture think today about abortion doesn’t come from nowhere. There is groupthink at play, philosophies being espoused, religious views mixed in, personal feelings, etc. that all feed into how many of us think. And only all the more in the digital age of social media in the past ten to twenty years. How many younger people wouldn’t agree with a movie star with muscle on just about anything today? For most of us, our views on life coagulate under a thin veneer of disinterest. The vast majority of people haven’t spent a solid hour in thought about anything like why they’re here, who made them, who Jesus is, etc. And for many it’s just not applicable. Many of us just make up our views as we go if we’re asked. I’ve seen it a thousand times. I submit that we feel comfortable doing this because we believe we’re the center of it all anyway. Many feel God’s just too kind to really disagree with them. They’ve been all but taught this in churches anyway with the soft, fake Jesus and the pictures of Noah on the ark with the giraffe’s head sticking out of the side window. But again, most of us don’t need a developed worldview…we think. I mean seriously, how many people feel they need to have a developed philosophical or theological worldview in their lives today? It’s like high school geometry for most people. We’re just too busy. That doesn’t at all stop us from having an opinion, however.
The way any group thinks in a specific period is an amalgamation of its people’s ideas and experiences. Any identifiable collective thinking (religious or otherwise) is sometimes easier to trace the genesis of than at other times, but there are always dynamics to thinking. We are all shaped by our times. None of us are an island. No one can argue that the societal outlook in the west changed forever after the two World Wars, especially after WWII. The Challenger space shuttle explosion in 1986 that killed its seven astronauts is the first news report I remember seeing. We were watching it on TV in school in Ohio. I returned from my first deployment in the Armed Forces from Saudi Arabia on September sixth of 2001 and was on leave in Tucson, AZ when I saw the news footage of the planes hitting the Twin Towers in New York City. They say everyone remembers where they were on September 11th, 2001. Do you? These things shaped my generation of people. Tragedy alone doesn’t shape a people, of course, but it often does. Both good and bad times can shape people and generations. Wars, migration, ease, disease, scientific advancements, economics, natural disasters, etc. can all shape a people sometimes seemingly overnight. We had the revival of the blessed Protestant Reformation in large part due to Gutenberg’s invention of the printing press. The printing press, just one invention, literally changed thinking around much of the planet. Think of how different mankind has become since 1969 and being able to see earth from space?! The Chernobyl nuclear disaster shaped Ukraine (and many surrounding peoples) from one April morning in 1986 on. Some say it was the very reason the massive Soviet Union fell. I was there during the first year Afghan citizens were allowed to vote. Consider how important it was in 1989 when the Berlin Wall fell. That shaped a people. I was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1978. The internet has shaped my generation. I remember dial up and I’ll never not be able to imitate that amazingly annoying yet somehow exciting dial up modem sound. I remember commercials between Cheers and Night Court on TV. I remember when TV programming ended at night with the National Anthem. Saturday morning cartoons were just that. I’m part of the last generation of people born in my nation who’ll remember what it was like to be un-reachable. No cell phones, no internet, no pagers, nothing. None of it existed. You want me as a kid between lunch and dinner on the weekend? You have to find me, usually out somewhere in the woods. Laws or legal precedents shape people for bad or for good. Schools in the south were finally integrated in the 1960s in the US. Unjust rulings have shaped America on abortion today. If a group has a common enemy thrust upon it, they often coalesce in effort. A flood headed toward a town can call its people into an action line of sandbags to fight it in one minute. Differences take a back seat. If a kid gets caught in a river people will selflessly form a human chain in subzero temperatures without hesitation to rescue them without wondering about who else is in the chain. So many things can influence change. I believe that it’s the entertainment industry (the culture of entertainment itself combined with our affluence) that shapes us in many ways for the worse today. It has made shallow beasts of us today. I believe that it’s this that gives rise to our problem of sex and abortion. I don’t know who first coined the phrase, but a wise man once said, “Let me write a nation’s songs. I don’t care who writes its laws.” Culture influences culture. People worship entertainers. I find it incredibly annoying to see videos of how people fainted at Elvis or the Beatles. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen biblical visions of Jesus. When a movie star or a sports figure walk into a room, people often respond like idiots. They’re just people. We are a people heavily shaped by the film industry today. It’s in our DNA. I don’t want to overemphasize this unrealistically, though I know I run that risk with many of you, but it bears emphasis if you’re paying attention culturally. We are nuts about being entertained. Think about it. How much can little babies get in the way of this? Parents, you know. I have four kids all between the ages of six and thirteen and have been married for nearly seventeen years. I know it full well. If all we want are swimsuits, ladies often give up their figure for the babies. Uncommitted “men” then fail to honor them in it. The silver screen (and all its marketed intrigue) is a part of our thinking. Let’s not forget that actors are just that, actors, and that many of them talk of the degraded evil of Hollywood, satanism, drugs, alcohol and brokenness that breaks so many of them in suicide, but still, it’s the fake women, fake men and fake stories we want. We spend hours a week just absorbing it all. And it’s garbage in, garbage out. Movies, music and TV have shaped today’s generation. And what does it mean when a culture’s films are filled with literally every form of unimaginable wickedness? It means that that culture is doomed. Fyodor Dostoyevsky said, “At first, art imitates life. Then life will imitate art. Then life will find its very existence from the arts.” That’s us. We have that luxury. In a culture as wealthy as our own, in times like ours, can we not see how the abortion holocaust has arisen? Since the 1960s and say the end of the Vietnam Era, we are mostly a soft people. And I say this as a Soldier of over twenty-three years who has deployed overseas five times. And of course, part of the danger is that in saying this I might seem to not be grateful to God for those times! I’m grateful for the times, but I see bad consequences of it in the literal sexual insanity and its resultant abortion problem in my nation. In his book Those Who Remain, G. Michael Hopf said, “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.” Yep! We should thank God for the good times, but let’s today remember that well over 60,000,000 of our children aren’t alive to because of them.
It’s reported that information doubles every twelve hours nowadays. Entertainment data is a part of this. There’s obviously way too much information to decode the matrix today…but just imagine it next week after fourteen more doublings. This works against us. We cannot hold a train of thought for more than about a minute. If that. We are adrift on tides of information. We are a commercial culture. Jacks of all trades, masters of none. Renaissance men without a worldview. Our massive influx of “new data” conditions a perpetual shallowness in meaningful thought. This works fine if your goal in life extends only as far as the weekend, but it rarely fosters real focus in us. When one approaches a subject like God in such a soundbite way it’s very dangerous. Christian thoughts can take decades to form. Lifetimes to form. If everything’s just someone else’s sound bites then people can actually come to believe that everyone’s opinions are created equal. After all, they’ve spent only as much time on theirs as I have on mine, right? I see this all the time in religion where someone thinks their opinion is just as valid as mine on the Bible. I’ve spent decades in vested study. I have learned from the very best and have literally more than a millennia’s worth of combined studies at work in my thinking after reading the works of many Christians since the first century. I’ve read countless books and listened to I don’t know how many thousands of hours of audio and video teaching. They could’ve spent literally seconds. Doesn’t matter. They’ve read a verse or two too and they have an opinion they feel is every bit as valid as my own. This is where the- “Well you eat shellfish and the Bible says you can’t” nonsense of our day comes from. We are discombobulated, reader. God alone is big enough to be at the center of it all, but we’ve decided to try to take that role. At the foundations of our collective thinking today is a lot of entertainment, reader. A whole lot of it. Directors with their gifts have done all the work for us and intellectually, though filled with information, most of us are anemic thinkers. People born after the year 2000 have grown up living vicariously through a thousand characters on screen. I think many unconsciously need “pretty people” to tell them anything convincingly. Research indicates how much technology has already changed us. The American photographer Eric Pickersgill did a series of photos of people in normal everyday situations, but without their electronic doodads. People standing in line, lying next to each other in bed, families at their tables, friends at barbecues, etc. all just staring blankly into their empty hands. They look insane, which was the point, but this is us, forever changed by our My Buddy (some of you will remember that doll) gadgetry (let’s not forget Kid Sister). Technology has changed how we think and thus how we think about God as well. We habitually confuse data with fact. Brains are incredibly overrated while character (let alone godly character) is basically marginalized. A three-minute Google search is “research.” Ten minutes is “in-depth research.” We have so much material, but can rarely connect it to reality. This has become our reality. And life, like actual life, like a baby, can interrupt it for many of us and we get terrified at anything like that that’s not temporary or fake. Most of us are quite used to fake. What we’re not used to is really letting people in. We’re like artificial intelligence cameras that can’t distinguish between objects far and near. We have all the information but can’t process it. And for the most part, don’t need to. Seriously, how many of us are expected in our culture today to be serious in life about just about anything before like age twenty-five? We are like encyclopedias with more information than we know how to access. To access “mannequin” it’s like we have to start in the catalogs of our bloated brains back at “aardvark” and usually give up long before “lion” in distraction. But the next two-minute video won’t ask us to do that. The next porn star won’t demand a thing of us beyond what we’re geared to give. Many today view the Christian religion as just another shallow ideology because it’s all they know. As if Jesus just talked about sex, money or government or something in a letter like this in a list of do’s and don’ts. I know this because I’ve shared the Gospel personally with thousands and thousands of people. The Bible’s fifteen hundred year-long historical revelation written by over forty authors with a depth of thought and consistency deeper than the Mariana Trench is tantamount to bumper sticker quips of the flying spaghetti monster if bumper stickers is all you’re used to dealing with. It’s all just sound bites.
Of course, there are a ton of heretics in pulpits today espousing their own boring ideas that continue to do harm. The “prosperity gospel” is sad. The televangelist clowns have blackened Jesus’ eyes more perhaps than the inquisitions of Rome. Many hirelings in pulpits come with their own ideas, not God’s words and in fact have many of the largest churches in my land. I have written on and named many of them. There are wolves in both big and small “churches” telling everyone exactly and only what they want to hear on almost everything. They will not speak against abortion. Their kind is nothing new. Paul said in his own day, “For we are not like the many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.” 2 Corinthians 2:17. We are not word wrangling who love well in the Spirit and who view the Bible rightly. We have more than a soundbite to give you as we communicate the message, and we want to invest in you both today and in eternity. Part of our message to the world, and to this culture, is to repent of its sexual immorality. I’ll say it a dozen times here. Abortion is a sex issue. No one repents of the temporary pleasures of sexual immorality without something, or rather someone, better to turn to. Jesus is better, and calls people to better, but he’s in no way bending to our affluence. He’s wealthier anyway. The people-pleasing false preachers so prominent on our airwaves are rarely about calling out sin and so they’re what Jesus called, “blind guides of blind people” in Matthew 15:14. They come with flattering speeches. This of course only feeds into the fake and affluent culture we live in all the more and “selfism,” even in the church, not Christianity, has become a very fast-growing religion.
There are many other ways to be distracted from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Like bad lawyers can take away truth through loopholes (Luke 11:52) worldliness often takes away truth by distraction. Think of it like those unrealistic men and women on the magazine covers. We all know they’re fake. Those aren’t real women in those bikinis. Those are photoshop projects that make you want to buy the magazine. Everything’s positioned, marketed, back lit, falsely advertised. That’s not cheese on the cheeseburger in that commercial, it’s plastic. That’s not milk in that cereal it’s glue. And we expect it. Culturally, we’ve been so inundated with fine phrases and fluid writers that without word polishing we’ll feel we’re not being engaged. How many people will tune into what a speaker is saying just because of how they’re dressed, because the audio is good, the lighting works or the background is catchy, etc.? We want the big show while the best preachers aren’t even on TV. Commercials can get us rolling in laughter inside thirty seconds. If a preacher can’t we’ll tune him out. We’ve been taken to the depths of sadness and the heights of joy every weekend in movies and television. We’re spoon-fed imagination today and so most of us can imagine little ourselves therefore. Think about it. Real life doesn’t come with a soundtrack, but seeing others live as if it does your whole life in a media age affects our thinking in cumulative ways that show up in an overstimulated sort of idea coma toward actual life. One statement said it well when it said, “I wish you a life half as good as the one you fake that you have on Facebook.” We have become actors. We’re rarely in the now because we’re so often in someone else’s. We’ve become desensitized to meaning by an oversaturated market of usually useless meanings. Useless meaning manufactured for us. Real passion with a spouse is similarly blunted for many by manufactured lusts from a thousand perverted electronic image experiences in pornography.
There is just so much coming at us. With so much information in our faces, who has time to seek out matters of the heart with God? We are many of us like a modern Sisyphus and our meaning for it all is always somewhere in the next thing. This is materialism. Many today that I speak with are so convinced that there are no answers to the big questions in life that they feel even the questions have become useless. These people have never met Jesus. They’re stuck in the cacophony of life able only to isolate certain intelligible phrases for a short time before they’re drowned out again. God has to free us from the cacophony. John 10:4-5. In the marketplace of ideas, many of us are simply marketed away from Jesus too easily. The Gospel then is like that seed in Mark 4:15: “These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.” Again, we spend so much time in entertainment. I’d like to analyze one item from modern cinema with you. If you’ve not seen the 1997 movie Devil’s Advocate, I don’t recommend seeing it for most people. It’s filthy. However, it was remarkably socially insightful if you’re able to bear it. This and the 2006 movie The Fountain with Hugh Jackman are two very sociologically insightful movies. Al Pacino’s speeches in the Devil’s Advocate define accurately much of the sin of our age. It’s a bit like a modern day Screwtape Letter on film. You can see many of the speeches from the film on YouTube without seeing the whole movie if you’d like. Think of how the Devil robs us today of wisdom through fine lies. Crafted, polished, marketed, lies—and often with someone attractive and little to no clothes on. Pornography is a fine lie. Pride is a fine lie. Both are packaged and ready to ship to your front door today, however. Sin promises happiness and never delivers it. Abortion promises happiness, rarely gives it in this life, and certainly removes it in the next. In the movie Devil’s Advocate, Pacino, who plays the devil, is trying to get his son, Keanu Reeves, to have sex with his daughter to produce an antichrist. Again, it’s nasty, but Reeves, dealing with so much trauma in the story, asks her, a gorgeous nude woman in the heat of the temptation he’s already somewhat entered into in the story, “What about love?” Pacino quickly intrudes with: “Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate.” It’s a lie intentionally told to distract. And please don’t miss this, we mortals rarely mind being lied to if it’ll get us what we want! We must look deeper. I hope this will help you to do so regarding abortion. Satan offers happiness. “Freedom” even in the “choice” of it. Most can’t see through the lie. And if that’s all we want, we’ll go for it and not seek too much to uncover the lie. We’ll go for “us” every time. Jesus, however, teaches us to go deeper. To uncover the lie, “Lest Satan should take advantage of us [being] ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11. Satan’s lies have layers of lies. His truths are never that in the end what they pretend to be at the start. See, it is on one level true what Pacino (Satan) said here. Sex, on a very real level, is in fact just the release of other chemicals in us. Chocolate does indeed perform chemical function too, but since we’re not talking about candy, and instead about a man being invited to have sex with a half-sister in a penthouse, reality demanded more than one level in Reeves’ thinking, and since what Pacino said seeks to deny any other level its place by baser impulse, it makes any truth a complete lie. It takes away the key to knowledge. I see this everywhere today. This is calling abortion “choice.” We are chemical creatures by design. We are physical beings. We release chemicals that produce emotions. Fascinating! Chocolate does this in us. It has something we call phenethylamine that causes our brain cells to release dopamine. This is a neurotransmitter that can make most of us feel good. It’s baffling, but God designed the concoctions in us that create such. Our cells have the information inside them for our organs and processes to create the mixes in microscopic data file chemicals like little cocktails. Oxytocin, dopamine, adrenaline, melatonin, acetylcholine, glutamic acid, glycine, histamine, endogenous opioid peptide, etc. So many more. Our bodies make these chemicals. But we are more than chemicals. Evolutionary stupidity has robbed many of dignity by reducing us to chemical function. Our brains are indeed, however, pounds of meat that produce electricity. The spiritual is therefore inextricably linked to the natural by God’s design. We are made in his image to speak like God, hear like God, walk like God, etc. But is there anyone upon examination who can’t see that there’s a Grand Canyon of difference between love and eating chocolate when it comes to sex with a half-sister? Satan robs us in such ways in a hundred ways. We are robbed of love, truth and wisdom in a million subtle ways. It’s like one preacher said of a prankster who went into a store and switched all the price tags around. The cheap stuff (beauty, power, money) has the high price tags, but the most valuable stuff (character, humility, love) is de-valued at nearly nothing. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen a movie about this recently (tongue in cheek). We rightly call this, “The spirit of the age.” Think of this in light of the movie quote I just gave you. In his book A Pilgrim’s Regress, C.S. Lewis wrote about a man ordering milk and eggs in a restaurant. After tasting the milk he commented to the waiter about how delicious it was. The waiter replied, “Milk is only the secretion of a cow, just like urine and feces.” Then after eating the eggs he commented on the tastiness of the eggs. Again the waiter responded that eggs are only a by-product of a chicken. After thinking about the waiter’s comment for a moment the man responds, “You lie. You don’t know the difference between what nature has meant for nourishment, and what it meant for garbage.” Can we tell the difference, or has Satan convinced us that sex is just like chocolate? Has another person’s life just become your “choice?” Is sex just a handshake? Is God not a just and holy judge to be reckoned with, or is he just some “Man upstairs” figure telling you you’re right all the time and demanding nothing? We are an age of the politicked, the soundbited, the commercialized, and God is no different regarding experience than our next sexual partner. Because we are reduced to chemical functions. Because we’re so distracted by the actual processes of those chemicals. Because we have refused God’s word that puts life into perspective and gives us all things richly to enjoy, we are indeed like modern day Sisyphuses seeking meaning in nothing worth seeking meaning in. The world only stocks the immature wine. God offers the finer aged vintage! Reader, no, “It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, and He adds no sorrow to it.” Proverbs 10:22. This is a life lived in reality. Movies can be great, but life isn’t one. Be refreshed, there’s nothing fake about Jesus! Life, as it is, is often disappointing. Many prefer to spend their time imitating their lives elsewhere, but it doesn’t have to be. Many see abortion today as shallow as we do because much of life has become just as shallow. Our lives are an inch deep and a mile wide and a baby can get in the way of the next scripted scene of a life that’s only, “Based on a true story.” We don’t think of it this way because our thoughts are elsewhere.
Let’s talk about naturalism to consider its impact on the mind of the average pro-abort. Naturalism rules the day. As Christians, we must continuously try to understand why. No one is immune to the influences of naturalism today. No one should fear this. What we should fear is big heads and no hearts. We must try to understand our world. Not just in the sense that it’s there to be understood or enjoyed, but in the sense of how it can be used against us. Scientific naturalism is hilariously deified today and its “experts” wield its conclusions on every street corner. We have an overabundance of overeducated morons in charge of a great deal. Brains are highly overrated, and character in the Faith is rarely sought. People blindly accept Darwinian naturalism dogmatically. Darwinism is truly a blind faith. It’s attractive because it demands nothing of anyone and tends to the unchecked exaltation of the whims of every sinful instinct as admirable expressions of our supposed animal natures. It’s easy to be a naturalist. Naturalism plays a major part in American thinking on abortion today. Gen Z (people born in the mid-nineties coming in between millennials and Gen A) is about material success and little else. In that many of them reject God’s advice on what makes a good life like marriage, kids, faith, etc., their lives are like a fire sustained only by small doses of gasoline instead of long-burning coals. The most important thing to this generation is material success. This shapes the religious views of many in our day. A nice home, nice car, nice clothes, vacationing…and somewhere in there maybe the stuff that actually matters in life that of course I’m entitled to and can have as well. Whatever obstacles get in the way of my success must be removed at all costs. Enter abortion on demand. Wars, even world wars between nations start from someone else having what you want. If someone threatens my success, they die, be they a life insurance policy holder, a Hatfield or a McCoy, a Shiite or a Sunni, a Protestant or a Catholic, a Hutu or a Tutsi, your baby or mine, you (it) must be taken out of the equation if you threaten what matters most to me…which is me. Selfism is naturalism and naturalism is selfism. Secularism and materialism help this form of worship greatly and the ends will always justify the means. Naturalism goes hand in hand with materialism today and rules a class of the self-degraded and self-deluded who confess religiously that they’re just evolved amoebas. This is all very spiritually defiling mind you. Naturalism or secularism comes in myriad forms but ultimately places one at the center of all things…right where fallen man wants to be.
On a recent flight from Germany to the United States I watched what I believe is the most evil movie I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre or something so overtly satanic. It was far worse. Far more insidious. It was the 2020 film directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg (I knew it was a woman as I watched it) called Unpregnant.
It’s no doubt presented as a modern sort of, “Coming of age” film for young ladies today. A young girl has to make a road trip to New Mexico because her state won’t allow her to abort her kid without parental consent. So, the movie is about the whacky adventure embarked upon with an estranged childhood friend to get it done. It had every element of the most seductive wickedness today in its salesmanship. Fornication? Check. Lesbianism? Check. It tries to glorify it too. Murder? Check. Hypocrisy? Check. Selfish childishness? Check. Hatred for God? Double check. Lies? Check. Not just lies from the stars to their friends and parents (who nevertheless (of course) bail them out in the end in “love”) but lies from the director to her audience. The movie was made for one reason—to glorify something inglorious. To glorify abortion. The star murders her kid for no other reason than that she gets pregnant young and doesn’t want to be a mom. It is abortion on demand. Ruth Ginsburg would be proud. Anyone who wants to glorify disemboweling babies in a movie is a liar. The movie’s goal was to paint anyone with a moral quandary regarding abortion as an idiot, an utter lunatic, or at best heartless. Of course, there were plenty of insults to Jesus thrown in…despite the clear irrelevance of faith in the lives of the stars. Never mind the horrible acting and poor direction, this movie’s message was just appalling. One irony throughout the movie was that the brokenness of the stars was clearly portrayed but never addressed. The main star’s dad was never around in the movie. The co-star’s dad was a deadbeat who’d divorced her mom when she was young. This led to her behavioral downward spiral. She had a flat character promiscuous mom and had become a lesbian. The reality of a lot of loser “dads” in my day became a grim reality for me as I watched. Kids are hurting. They are abandoned and alone and dealing with things alone (like babies) that they shouldn’t be. And this is the result. I have no doubt that the movie will help many young people feel better about the sin of abortion. I cannot express how much I hated the film, but it shows so clearly how lost my culture really is. Our kids are hurting, but they are not victims. Not in abortion. They are perpetrators. The film’s star is nothing short of grotesque as she expresses the pure selfism that gives rise to our culture of death. This movie epitomizes why we as Christians must love people enough to hate abortion. Our “conversation” about abortion isn’t about rape, incest, the lives of women or rights, this movie is an anthem for the culture of death we must hate. Watch it. Get mad. Go preach. Again, I can’t explain my disdain. The movie tries to make the abortion process literally dreamy. The director (and Satan) wants people to go into it without fear. It’s incredibly boring and revolting. The movie builds up to the murder scene. In the packed abortuary, down to the type of lighting employed and the camera motion and special effects used, the voice of the “doctor” or “nurse” who walks the girl through the process of the abortion she’s about to commit is amplified with the kind of soft and mellowing soundtrack you’d expect on a bedtime relaxation meditation track. They make murder look easy and the murderers virtuous. It is so plainly just satanic propaganda. Satan wears many hats. This one’s the dragon. It is sickening. I noticed my teeth gritting half the time in anger. The hell that awaits its makers is both terrifying and just. How could anyone not see this from a mile away? I don’t know how popular the film was, but it’s the perfect example of why the abortion industry is what it is today. The star has a (of course) sexually immoral boyfriend who’s “sweet” and tries to propose to her when she tells him she’s pregnant, but she doesn’t want it. She doesn’t want marriage. This slips in the “empowerment” message to the girls. He’s soon presented as a stalker, a moron, shallow, backstabbing and silly. His desires have nothing to do with hers in this. He expresses some disagreement about the abortion, but his opinion doesn’t matter. Which was another point of the film. The movie shows what’s been detailed already perfectly. People want success more than anything (money and comfort) and anything or anyone that gets in the way of that must be removed one way or another…even if it’s one’s own kid or kids. The fact that the baby is never seen, heard or felt makes it palatable. We have made selfism the only dogma that matters and the selfism it fosters is the fastest growing religion in my country today.
The church in America, even with all her blessing overall, gets no pass. Much of our selfism comes from pulpits today, frankly, much to my chagrin. Naturalism’s supernatural enemy would be Christianity that says there’s a God to whom all stand accountable and that he is to be at the center of everything. That he’s the Creator and we’re just creatures under him. This is really the heart of the offense of Christianity. Say only this and, “Boo, hiss, crucify him!” the naturalists shout. “Get him off my throne” is the unrestrained knee jerk. “We will not have this man to rule over us!” Reader, there’s really no choice. Deny that Jesus Christ is Lord, and you yourself are left to be. Naturalism is quite literally the natural man’s religion. It is in spiritual reality nothing else than the worship or devotion to oneself. Naturalism is organized religion as much as any other, it’s just organized mainly at the individual level for individual satisfaction. If we are just animals living in an indifferent universe, then killing babies is nothing. I cannot underemphasize this. We’ll talk more on evolution later. But naturalism tends to spiritual darkness and vice versa. We see the effects of this today on a massive scale. When a lion takes over a pride he usually kills all the babies to then reproduce with all the lionesses in the pride to carry on his line. It’s terrible, but we don’t call it unethical. If we’re all just animals like them, and if we were consistent, then we should allow for stepfathers to kill their stepkids if they wanted to breed with the mothers. If we were consistent. We’re all just animals after all, right? No, since we’re not just other animals, we (I hope) all recoil from the idea.
Religion abounds. Aleister Crowley, the 19th-20th century loser occultist established a maxim for his cronies he called, “The Law of Thelema.” It said, “Hack off the heads of babies and dance in their tasty blood.” No, he didn’t say that. Satan is usually far cleverer than just the ole frontal assault. Crowley actually said, “Do what thou wilt, under love.” Oh, how lovely Satan often speaks! Throw in some lust and you’ll hook those already in darkness pretty quickly with a religion that just says, “Do whatever.” This in my opinion is the very essence of modern American naturalism in the culture at large. This has become a foundation stone in the bedrock for the culture of death we’ve created. I don’t give Crowley credit; it’s human nature simply put on a bumper sticker. This ideology rules the day, literally, and it matters nothing that most soccer moms espousing it would likely claim nothing to do with the likes of Crowley or even believe in the Satan that he believed in. Our naturalism is aided today by the large amounts of distraction of our entirely marketed world dancing on our screens to show us only what we want, whenever we want it, for how long we want it. If you want a modern English maxim for our modern religion here it is: “Do what you want, just be nice, that’s love.” Or “Do your own thing” some might say. Or “You do you n’ I’ma do me.” Or how about “Only God can judge me!” as each man attempts to set the standards whereby they’ll be judged. Collectively this is us. And we’ll never come together as a whole outside of Christ because we’re just far too distracted. We’re too busy being us. Reader, it’s not that God is against individualism. God forbid! No, it’s God’s mind that gives us the symphony of colors, passions, thought, etc., but all of that is beautiful in creation under him, not us. It’s God that makes men and women equal opposites like right and left hands to work perfectly. “Just love and do you.” “Don’t judge.” That’s really all one needs we say. The Beatles sang, “All you need is love.” That is modern natural religion and in it one’s love for a corpse is as good as that of any “sky daddy” god. It is in actual fact then just one false god affirming the lordship of another. Most of these puny gods are far too humble to say that any one religion is true. You’re not so arrogant as to be setting rules for anyone else in this naturalism. The only rule you demand is the right of any other god to make their own rules. Science, after all, shows us that the universe is big enough for each of us to have his own anyway. Do whatever is right for you is the way of peace many say…on their way back to Walmart. Tolerate all except the intolerant God who made us…in love. We’re all good people deep down and so everyone’s truth is just that…theirs. “Do what thou wilt, under love.”
Does any of this sound familiar? If you’re out talking to people today it does. This is satanic strategy, and it works. Most of us are far too distracted in life to consider life for very long anyway. No, Satan comes subtly, cleverly, wisely, even bureaucratically. His fallen nature is to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10) but like a Jesuit he’ll use any means, especially the most pleasant ones, to do so. And I’m sure Satan’s PR firm welcomed it when the first depictions of him as butt ugly with horns and giving people cases of severely chapped lips and projectile vomit first appeared in art, photos or film. Those things may be evil, but they’re child’s play evil. You can see that kind coming just by the eerie music from a mile away. Real evil is often called-and truly felt to be-beautiful. Like Liz Hurley beautiful. It then works like a bug light to a mosquito. See, people can survive short waves of almost anything. Persecution, war, famine, debt, whatever. People can often come together in the short term. It’s the long con against you that’s impossible to withstand alone. It’s the enemy you don’t see coming that really gets you like the proverbial frog in the pot. It’s siege warfare that separates the men from the boys. Constant frontal attacks are often the tactics of the unskilled, careless, and soon-to-be crushed. Few pro-choicers are out fighting to murder babies. Some are, but most talk of “rights,” “choice,” “freedom,” etc. Like an unscrupulous lawyer’s trick who tries to dig up dirt on a rape victim’s background to get a client she knows is guilty acquitted, the abortionist points to rape and incest to try to frame the issue of abortion today as anything but the rampant sin of sexual immorality in our culture that actually produces the need for abortion on demand. And I don’t doubt that many of them actually believe deep down that they’re right to do so. They’re duped by an evil themselves that they can’t see coming and likely deny even exists, but it’s still only death in the wake for countless sweet little boys and girls in the end, and also spiritual death for their own murderous souls. 1 John 3:15. You cannot expect such a person to see the error of their ways on its merit, but we’re talking about life itself here so we must try. There must be a complete heart overhaul first. They’re full of Crowlian philosophical presuppositions of peace, love and joy. They are duped by evil and then become zealous to dupe others. This is natural religion. The Gospel must be preached alongside whatever else we do as Christians. Our enemy is subtle and we know that he cannot win in the end if we preach the truth.
We must consider the complexity or depth of sin in the abortion argument and how it hooks itself into one’s heart so deeply that like an arrowhead you can’t just pull it out or the victim dies. We must also consider then that only a multifaceted view of the matter, namely a God’s-eye view of it over our own, will suffice. We are all and each just too small to see it fully. Try to let its twistedness take you as out into a boat in the ocean for a moment. People actually see bludgeoning a baby to death as a matter of feminine virtue. You must confront that. Look upon the Leviathan of it and realize that you cannot overcome it. Only God can subdue the beast. Job 41:1-2. Imagine a man who slowly poisons kids to death so as to be undetected who are born onto a slave plantation in Jamaica. He does it because he “knows” that their lives will be filled with hardship, abuse, and poverty. Now try to imagine yourself as a neutral third party. Consider his motives. Consider how evil the abusive slave owners are. Consider the evils of the whole of the slave trade itself. Consider also what the boy or girl he’s thinking of killing likely wants. And consider also what God says about this. Consider all of these things. Now consider also that in a few years the little girl he wants to remove may be freed from the plantation, have her own husband and kids, tend her own garden, and thank God for her life. If this man only focuses on what he thinks is best and never allows God’s commands to outweigh all lesser points, he can actually be convinced he’s doing what’s right while being entirely wrong because he’s only focused on one part of a problem. He can only see in part, but all day long he’d make the case of how right he is by a hundred examples. So, what’s the point? The point is that focusing on one aspect of a problem can be the cause for an even bigger one. The problem in this is the slavery, not the kid. The slave owner perhaps deserves death, but never the kids. God forbids both slavery (not all kinds (yes there is biblical slavery that was not at all evil)) and murder. God forbids both in this case. The reason I’m trying to open this up is because regarding abortion many today argue that if kids are unwanted, they should be discarded. They think they’re looking out for the kids. They are duped by a misplaced virtue. They look to things like the foster care system (where by the way I think a government should be able to financially help more) and they say, “Kill a person rather than letting them grow up tragically.” But 1) we don’t know the future. 2) No kid is the problem from birth; the parents may be, but never the kids. 3) The boy who grows up in the worst foster care may rise to become a preacher (though that’s not the point). 4) Best for last—God says don’t murder innocent people (regardless of their size or age or even your best intentions). We dare not look at the potential bad lives of the kids to omit the real problem thus creating a bigger one, and we dare not ever forget the sixth commandment that says categorically, “Don’t murder.” That means you don’t get to put innocent people to death. Ever. The moment any other idea is elevated above God’s commandment is the moment we see plain evil at work. In any case, if a misguided focus in “doing good” is enough to blind a soul to Jesus’s command to not murder, Satan is quite content to endorse it…even if just, “For the sake of the poor kiddos.”
It gets worse among us today. As C.S. Lewis I think correctly pontificated in his classic book The Screwtape Letters, the junior devils need not report spectacular wickedness to adorn their faith. It only matters that one is kept away from Christ. Evil is content with that. Now, abortion is spectacular wickedness, but consider this. If the NBA will work to keep a man from God, he needn’t rape or abort anyone. It doesn’t have to be “big sin,” just don’t let him see or love Jesus and Satan wins. Or how about this one. Just let him or her view their success (college, work, physical appearance) as more important than that little baby’s life. Make their happiness the only thing that matters. Make the now all that matters. Many kids get aborted today because their parents are in high school or college. I read a story recently about a sixteen-year-old Ohio girl who hid her pregnancy nine months, gave birth one night alone in her parent’s home, cleaned it all up, tried to burn the body with a cigarette lighter, and buried the baby in the back yard, perhaps alive. She was only found out because a family counselor had learned confidentially from her that she was pregnant, but later saw no baby. Was this a good choice? Was this best for anyone? If your heart doesn’t mourn for that baby you’re broken. If you’re okay with that, I dare say I can’t help you. The sin has gone so deep that some see that young girl as a victim herself. For many, it’s still just a “choice issue.” It is indeed a twisted web we weave. To untangle ourselves, we must work sometimes from the larger picture before we begin to wrangle on particulars. God says, “Don’t murder.” Start there. Then work your way down to the societal ills of the young girl birthing a secret child in a bathtub and then trying to burn and bury it in her urban backyard one night around midnight. In our day we’re the worst. You must see the depth of it. Like that man who’d kill slaves, we want something “better for that young girl” than to have her try to abort and bury her own baby in secret. We want a “doctor” there with a napkin to take care of her. We then throw open the door to the same act, murder, wholesale and call it a “better option” for the girls. I see it all the time as people display signs of something like coat hangers and talk about how abortion should be safer. How the ladies deserve more. Preposterous. The baby would prefer no one sharpen the knife to soften the pain! We make matters worse, and I have little doubt that some are so twisted in this that they can actually think they’re doing good for women to kill their baby “safely.” This is, of course, nothing short of demented. It is deep down twistedness that I cannot be un-touched by when I consider it.
When we’re talking about naturalism, we’re talking about a religion with a lot of inputs in our lives and it has shaped us. As you put all of these things together, I hope you’re coming to see this in your own mind. Naturalism can be aptly defined as the worship of (or devotion to) self. Of course, the naturalist rarely thinks this to be an accurate summary, but I’m speaking from the biblical perspective that sees this type of natural self-love as standard now in fallen man’s software. My life, my needs, my goals, my whatever. Many have spoken about the growth of narcissism in our culture and its destructive tendencies. Ever seen a person’s Facebook profile with like fifty back-to-back selfies? Yeah, that’s narcissism. Naturalism isn’t only since everyone got a cell phone, it’s just that it’s only recently that it’s been fiber optically enabled, and so naturalism, now through silicone at near light speed, influences many in a whole new way. Man’s advancements, in that many of us misuse it as a religion, has helped our hearts go from black to Vantablack and beyond in new religion. Gutenberg’s printing press helped give rise to the historic Christian Faith in the Protestant Reformation. It also gave rise to so much else, of course. The computer has given rise in our day, not only to the Faith, but also to naturalistic religion on an even larger, global scale. “Of all things the measure is Man, of the things that are, that they are, and of the things that are not, that they are not.” -Protagoras. Old lies. Now he’s just in neon. Our internet saturated “educated” age allows us to think that we are the center of all things on a whole new level.
One of secularism/naturalism/modern religion’s main tenets today is, “Think for yourself.” This translates squarely into, “Think like others and you’re thinking for yourself.” This can be true inside every group including mine. Many people today are sadly just going along with the crowd on abortion. Your average pro-choicer has never once sat and watched a baby be executed unjustly. They’d get mad if you even showed them a picture of it. Your average pro-choicer has never once sat and heard a reasoned approach to the sanctity of human life from a good Bible teacher. They’ve never been asked to consider the great privilege it is for a woman to do what God designed women alone to be able to do and grow a child within her. To them, the argument of abortion isn’t along any lines of ethics, it’s just about choice. When one views their rights as from a state and not from God then they can only define what is “right” by what their culture at that time says is right. In the south during slavery in the US then they must have been right to abuse blacks, right? Their culture said it was okay after all. Those who abused their slaves and stole them from another land were in line with a minority prevailing idea. The Nazis were right in their killing of the Jews and others, I guess. The state said it was all good after all, right? The US Supreme Court ruled in the Dred Scott Case in 1857 things that people today would quickly condemn, yet for the naturalist they’re still willing to give the state authority to call evil good…so long as it fits their unexamined views. People are a windsock; God is not. History demonstrates this too much to miss it. As a Christian, I must remember that once the shoe was on the other foot. Non-Christians were mistreated when some form of Christianity or another was the groupthink. Though Jesus never taught religion as a means of unwilling societal control lorded over a people, I know that many men and women have. I know. I too have to learn from the past in this and remember that this thing swings both ways. Jesus said, “Love your enemies.” This has governmental aspects to it that make the best parts of our system of government strong when understood. One of the maxims of “jus ad bellum” or “just war theory” both throughout the medieval era to modern American history comes in a question that our leaders are always supposed to ask themselves if they’re ever to declare war. The question is: do I love my neighbor enough to go to war with him? This is taught to the highest levels of military and governmental war power leadership. This may seem strange to some, but it’s a great question for any nation to ask. The sole purpose of any just war (and there surely are both just and unjust wars) is to achieve a greater peace in the end than would be possible without it. I could go on about this, but I will resist. It’s the chaplain in me. Christianity has been horribly misused and abused. It still is. I can see the failures in the past and by this hopefully see myself better, but I know that the problems were never once in the truth itself. Never is the problem in Christ. They were just the failures of fallible, sinful men to live out those truths as far as I can tell. I can correct error because of my certainty of Sola Scriptura, again a subject for other letters, but it just means that the Bible is always what it is to those schooled by God the Holy Spirit. I can see where some historical errors came from, just turn with me in your Bibles. Every generation has blind spots. I’m writing about a major one here in this letter. The good news is that the Bible is still the foundation that can correct every generation’s failures. I must confess this by a study of it.
I want to return again now to evolution. Evolutionary thinking has been mentioned throughout. The modern secularist or pro-choicer has been inundated with the false presupposition that they’re just an evolved fish. A protist with a better hairdo. They truly somehow imagine that their family tree actually consists of amoebas. Anyone who assumes this fundamentally looks at life (pre-born life too) through this lens. Few people would take the last box of corn flakes off the shelf during a hurricane and yell, “Survival of the fittest” while they leave a young mother and child in the dust without moral quandary. But at first we often act like we would. Who really cares about George Floyd if it was just some evolved fish murdering another evolved fish?! No, justice rules the day against pure naturalism as they borrow from my biblical worldview to espouse anything (literally anything) as at all ethically right or wrong. There can be no such thing as right or wrong in an evolutionary worldview. No one really gets to define such a thing for anyone else. It’s a new golden rule that we’re left with, right? Whoever has the gold makes the rule. Bitcoin will work too. If there is no law above us we’re all just stardust. This ideology assumed blindly today aids the adoration of self and feeds directly into the pathology of abortion. There is no real evidence for Darwinian evolution (that doesn’t come to us from a graphic designer) but it aids the distracted secular worshipper’s groupthink and so it is espoused today on a surface level. When one comes from the perspective that we’re all just randomly evolved apelike creatures we shouldn’t be surprised when snuffing out pre-born people (fetuses) wholesale becomes tenable. God has put certain instincts via the conscience into human physiology that one must work hard to suppress, but they’re there nonetheless. Human nature does suppress God’s truths (including by some of the means we’re here considering) but it takes work. If you look closely, you can see the exhaustion in some people’s eyes that are doing it. See Romans 1:18-32. It took the legal works of pagans like Mrs. Ginsburg in American culture to collectively suppress the truth of God among us. I assert that abortion on demand, even that which was decided by the US Supreme Court, would not and could not be what it is among us without evolutionary philosophy. Without Scopes v. State in 1925 we couldn’t collectively be daft enough for Roe v. Wade in 1973. Stupidity, like sin, has a cumulative effect. Who doesn’t look at the pictures of dead babies and feel lament? Only aloof or evil people don’t, that’s who. Naturalism, in abortion, rears its worshipful head. We are the center, there is no personal God, our success and happiness matters most, we just want sex, so kill the “non-sentient” people, they get in our way. We really are just this bad. This is just human nature molded in our day and time as it is. Evolution reduces us to little more than beasts. If you’re out talking with young people today you see this often. Ask and you’ll see clearly that your average pro-choice advocate’s mind is filled with evolutionary faith. They sound like idiots. To the average person today, all they’ve seen are biased anti-Christians at school and work who’ve convinced them, usually without directly stating it, that all Christians speak with a southern accent and prove their love for Jesus by handling poisonous snakes. Evolutionary biases have been imposed on views of religion in history. People today import evolutionary constructs into many aspects of their thought life and end up saying things like since there is no such thing as God then it’s all just a random development in thinking in time from things like animism, to polytheism, to henotheism, to monotheism, etc. This is evolutionary thinking applied at a surface level to religion in history. It’s entirely ahistorical, but when all you’ve done is discuss the matter in your own circle (your Twitter feed or college breakroom) you can become convinced rather quickly that you’re right. And you’d be amazed how rarely it ever gets challenged. We are in a post-Christian era and it shows. Evolution is a big part of this.
Money, money, money, baby. There’s a lot of money in naturalism today, and we can never underestimate the motivating power of money in any area. We see this with any other religion in history just the same. Indulgences built St. Peter’s Basilica. Money is amazingly corrupting. And we in the west in my country are an extremely wealthy people today. A lot of money has come in because of evolutionary beliefs in the past hundred years. Since babies threaten the present financial stance of the “parents,” abortion is typically a means to financial flourishing. This is another sedimentary rock layer over the ethical issue itself. Never underestimate what people will do when money or self-preservation enters the picture. A close picture of it mentally (or even spiritually) may be likened to a feeding frenzy with sharks when blood enters the water. “The love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” 1 Timothy 6:10. In the church, most of the Christians you meet, aren’t. Money can evidence this. Jesus illustrates it as follows: “And others are the ones sown with seed among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires for other things enter and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” Mark 4:18-19. Money can really corrupt, and usually does. People have murdered people for jackets, how much more then will excuses be made in doing so for a lifetime of freedom? Formula is expensive. Hospital bills are expensive. Baby stuff (though we may not need most of it) can be expensive. This is why every young couple loves baby showers! This is as socialist as I get because baby stuff’s expensive, man. If you’re a church, please come along side all the young ladies you can in this when they need help! Abortion isn’t an option…even if it seems financially viable. Money motivates abortion. For most dead babies today it was either tuition or them. Money motivates a lot. Why do you think that even one of the fundamental biblical qualifications for any pastor is that he be, “Free from the love of money”? 1 Timothy 3:3. There’s a reason. Money makes a great servant, but a poor master. Sports contracts, book contracts, teacher salaries and egos, particle physics laboratories, research grants, etc. Just as religious channels of money can flow through any channel of religion, it flows in the streets of the city of man. This equates to “success” and motivates the instincts to embrace sometimes many excused irrationalities.
Sexual ethics is just as big an issue in understanding the pro-choice advocate’s beliefs on abortion as the evolutionary or naturalist mentality upon which it’s usually- if not even unconsciously via social conditioning- assumed. Scripture tells the Christian in Colossians 3:5: “Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.” Abortion is a sex issue at its core. Sex, when misused outside of marriage between a husband and wife, is idolatrous. Scripture says that sexual immorality is a form of idolatry as we just saw in the verse above. For how many is it the dominant objective in life? Look at the nasty pornography industry creating all the little peeping toms. God, for his own reasons, between Adam and Christ, allowed for polygamy among the men of the Old Covenant. Jesus taught that it was not made such in the beginning, however, and the New Covenant teaches us that marriage is to be only as it was created to be- between a man and a woman. Design itself corroborates God’s intent in the beauties of sex. Because we want whatever sex we want entirely unabridged, we’ll murder to get it. This is why Christianity with its archaic views that marriage is actually only between a man and a woman are so dangerous to the abortion pimps. People love sex. I’ve been married for nearing seventeen years now. I love it too. God designed every bit of its pleasures. Neither Satan nor nature created anything. God did. It was his design to make sex wonderful. It brings great intimacy throughout a lifetime and is also how you’re here to now read this letter. It produces life itself. Homosexuality never can, but proper sexuality does. Humanity exists by what we reproduce. Genetic science proves through an examination of the Y-chromosome the short existence of mankind going back to the days of the flood of Noah, and then back slightly further to Adam and Eve. Such is information Darwin never had in the earlier stages of the faith he championed. Lots and lots of sex is literally how we all got here. The first human relationship made by God on planet Earth was that of a wife and her husband. Wonderful, passionate, pure. Population has exploded on earth eight-fold in roughly the past five hundred years as a result. For the Christian, sex is sacred. It is not dirty. It is not defiling. It is beautiful as God designed it. God takes this most important human relationship profoundly seriously. Sex is truly sacred. Any good parent knows this. It’s point, without being salacious, is not only procreation. I’ve read the Song of Solomon. Sex is also just for plain old enjoyment falling squarely into the category of 1 Timothy 6:17 for husbands and wives married honorably. I heard one preacher liken sex to a fire. He said it’s great in the fireplace, but terrible on the couch. This is a metaphor. It’s not about places to actually do it. I like that analogy. God has given the parameters for sex, but our culture has shed them. Our STD rate is only the tip of the iceberg. God’s judgment for the abuse of his gift is far worse. But because sex is viewed by “good people” on the basis of idolatrous evolutionary opinion, it has taken on a sort of Bonobo monkey-type of function. Unless you try to wrap your mind around sex as the most visceral experience many will have in this life, you cannot come close to understanding why as a nation we’d murder sixty million plus little kids to enjoy it.
Such fundamental, reinforced, ideological, spiritual, self-centered presuppositions form the basis of modern secular religion on abortion. And of course, the worse wickedness regarding it comes from those who claim to be the church and yet endorse abortion. One of the lowest spots in hell is for the un-repentant clergyperson who endorses abortion. What I’ve written about in this section permeates the thinking of the current generation. I’ve seen it a thousand times. Consider how contrasting and beautiful the biblical worldview is. How clean it is. Imagine husbands and wives growing in their intimacy with each other with happy kids asleep downstairs in a life filled with worship and true success. It’s the biblical worldview that sees sex, marriage and kids as a gift. It honors all these things and honors everyone involved. It leads to stronger people. America is what it is because we once protected marriage. We will reap what we sow. We already are. Our babies are paying the price. God’s plans for our lives is far better than our own. I pray that thinking through these apologetic points can help prepare you to counter them as we continue. Working through these foundational positions helps us as missionaries understand the nation(s) to which we’re sent or into which God had us born. 2 Corinthians 5:19-20. Our knowledge of Scripture can then come alongside our learning and give us the truth to speak. There is a spirit of the age we need to be able to recognize, and we have to do the work to be ready for the fight. It’s too late to start doing push-ups when the thief comes in the front door. We have to prepare beforehand.

We must know ourselves. The pro-abort doesn’t. Distance from God not only colors someone’s view of God, but it will also color their view of themselves. Many people today, and certainly your average pro-choicer, denies God’s word that people are basically evil and says instead that we’re basically good. Paul, an inspired Apostle, however, was another one tasked to give us God’s anthropology. If you hold a biblical worldview this is simple. And remember that Paul is fully aware of the history of his own people Israel and the many who loved God throughout its history. He writes:
“As it is written,
“There is none righteous, not even one;
There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God;
All have turned aside, together they have become useless;
There is none who does good,
There is not even one.”
“Their throat is an open grave,
With their tongues they keep deceiving,”
“The poison of asps is under their lips”;
“Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness”;
“Their feet are swift to shed blood,
Destruction and misery are in their paths,
And the path of peace they have not known.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:10-18 (NASB).
There it is. That’s the God’s eye view. Want to really know how God sees you deep down? This is the God’s eye view of you and me, and brother, please hear me say that God sees it all. One preacher said it best when he said, “God saw the very best thing there was about me…and died to forgive me for it.” Now, Jesus makes the difference with even the worst among us, 1 Corinthians 6:11: “…such were some of you,” but Romans 3:10-18 is a summation of qualifying humanity since the Fall of Adam in a biblical worldview nutshell. In light of it, you can’t believe that people are basically good and still claim to hold a biblical worldview. Now, we’re not all Ruth Bader Ginsburgs or Joseph Stalins standing atop millions of graves, but we’re also none of us Jesus. We are all, aside from Jesus, fallen. This doctrine is a bottom button on the shirt of truth that facilitates or thwarts alignment on so much else. This will inevitably affect your views on abortion. No, we’re basically bad. Peel back the onion as far as you can and it just gets worse. It is out of the heart (our very core) that sin comes. Matthew 15:18. There’s the diagnosis from the Great Physician himself, just as we saw given in Romans 3:9-18. The heart of the issue is the issue of the heart. Give more money, more power, more sex and fallen man just gets worse. See Romans 3:10-18 above again if you like. Humanity is fallen and bent toward sin from Afghanistan to Ohio. Romans 3:23. But how many people around you today would agree that man is naturally worthy of hell? Little to none I’d imagine. This is why those same people don’t have a Savior. We’re all too busy with 1) puffed up images of ourselves, and 2) fake images of hell as just an eternal medieval torture chamber with an iron maiden in it to learn that God’s holy, not petty and not spiteful. We must be dealt with because God is good. Again, see Romans 3:10-18. People hate God the Bible says and so many, aided by common groupthink, have simply disregarded God’s Moral Law for a time, the Ten Commandments, as the sin gauge it’s designed to be and substituted it for the kinds of self-centered standardizations that can literally lead the majority of a nation with “In God We Trust” on its currency to actually believe that slaughtering tens of millions of innocent boys and girls in cold-blooded, pre-meditated, contract based homicide is really all just about “choice” and “rights.” Abortion is clear evidence of the depth of the fallenness of man, both today and throughout history. Our fall in Adam wasn’t like a fall from the first floor. It was more like from the five hundredth floor. We weren’t wounded in the fall, we died. I wasn’t there when God made the world. I don’t know exactly how old it is, but I do know that it’s fallen. One can’t fundamentally disagree with God on something like this that’s intimately related to themselves and everyone they know and not come out with a dismissive bias against Christianity as a whole. This becomes a sieve of anti-Christian groupthink. Jesus said that only those who know they’re sick know that they have need of him, but man today actually believes that he’s the pinnacle of health. And so Jesus, who in their minds is not God, is only at best as good as any other self-styled moral teacher. And we don’t need him. Suddenly for them all the empirical evidence that the world is not progressing, that it’s just as dark, just as wicked, just as un-loving as it ever was becomes just more fodder of the problems out there with the solutions still in me. No, dear reader, the problem is in us and the solution is in Jesus. Christ’s life, death and Resurrection is the only answer that reconciles God and man and fixes our broken and enslaved wills, but many of us just “humbly” disagree. The Crayola-colored view of ourselves against any need of the Savior entrenches us in fight or flight. And all this is in accordance with the text itself that says that such has always been the natural propensity of man since we fell in SIN. We “naturally” really are in a sense all prone to be naturalists. Add in the kinds of mechanisms I’m espousing here, and it can help us understand many approaches to the issues at hand. If God says you’re basically bad and you say you’re basically good, then of course everything else is also up for redefinition, friend. Even whether someone else is a human being or not. Jews, serfs, Romans, blacks, Christians, Muslims, Irish, fetuses, they’ve all at times been redefined as less than human or at least treated as such. Once that’s done then terminating a “sub-human” wholesale becomes possible. This then historically is a chief example of what it means to be basically bad while redefining bad as good. If we get to define ourselves, then everything that is evil or good is left up for definition by us, not God. Obviously, this fosters self-centeredness. The transgender argument comes from just such a distortion of propriety where a person thinks they get to define their gender (AKA sex). And again, in this enters the naturalism spoon-fed to us today. Add in the obviously overwhelming amount of biblical illiteracy in the vast majority of today’s “free thinkers” and you quickly find a people boldly saying, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” 1 Corinthians 15:32. And as each of us adds to our material fiefdoms in personal wealth in a materialistic society there are less and less people who can step into our air-conditioned cathedrals and tell us anything we don’t want to hear. Life today is good, but it can also be a recipe for spiritual blindness.
Since we’ve redefined our very being as good, and since God won’t come to terms with us, the pathology becomes something in the minds of my people like, “If I can’t please God, then why even try?” The passage I just cited in Romans may quickly and dismissively even encourage some to that end. But they’re blind in their naturalism to the grace and love of God. If left to themselves, they will never get beyond this standoff. This is of course Satan’s goal in it, but man is the problem, not God. I know my own heart. Jeremiah 17:9. Many deny the truth of their fallenness and then just add more denials on top. All the way up to what they enjoy. They know only a God of judgment and know not that that God, the only God, is the God of mercy and love. If God hated humanity all he’d have to do is nothing, but the natural man does not want to know that God is love. 1 John 4:8. But we must go to them and remind them that God desires to save. As Christians, we must seek to be consistent. When God’s judgment comes upon them in this life, if we’re able, let them remember us loving them and telling them the truth of things all along. Perhaps that will lead them to God’s grace in their lives. Scripture says, “If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.” Psalm 130:3-4. Really think about that for a moment. Read it again. We see here that it’s because there is forgiveness, and not only because God marks iniquities, that we should fear him. If we knew for sure from God that we couldn’t ever find grace with him for our sins, then what would we do? If someone knew somehow that they were not elect, then why not just go and fully enjoy the passing pleasures of sin? That would be at least a somewhat reasonable question to ask, but such a question should not and cannot be asked because we limited creatures know for sure that there is mercy with God. All people everywhere today are commanded to repent of their sins and to believe in Jesus. Acts 17:30-31. That is God’s revealed will. Do this and you will live. We all need it because we’re all fallen in sin. God’s secret will is his own. Even for murder there is forgiveness. And thank God! Abortion is not the unpardonable sin, reader. But God is God. He makes the rules. I’m happy and bound to proclaim this. He’s holy and he’s not shy or insecure about it. Man on his aluminum foil throne is anything but God, but God is gracious and desires to save. But the Cross makes no sense to a people who think they’re basically good before God as is. We’re so bad we think killing a person is good.
Life From Conception
For the Christian, the single greatest argument against abortion is that Jesus (God incarnate) was once himself a baby in the womb. I’ll just leave that one there.
A pre-born baby is a human being. It is an evidence-based fact that I expect anyone and everyone to hold who’s simply taken the time to reason through the matter. No argument can win against the fact that from the very moment of conception you became you on every basis of measure except mass. This is easily reasoned in every manner of speaking and frankly should not need much time to establish. Chronology may help some to stop playing games with the subject of abortion. If necessary or possible, just get out a piece of paper or a white board, write the person’s name at the top of it to whom you’re speaking, with the formula below written out as you wish to use it (as minutes or hours, etc.). Add up the minutes that they’ve been alive since birth and then make sure they add in the necessary minutes prior to their birthday as well. It’s simple and it drives home a strong point. There are (assuming the standard of measure of a year as close enough to 365 days of twenty-four hours each in a solar year) 525,600 minutes in a year (60x24x365). Multiply 525,600 by the number of years that have elapsed since the person with whom you’re speaking was born. That’s (A). Then add in an approximation of the number of months recorded for them that they spent growing up in the womb. If they don’t know for sure how many months they spent growing up in the womb, by God’s design, you can assume nine. In a month there are approximately 43,200 minutes (60x24x30). That’s (B). (Nine months by the way has 388,800 minutes (60x24x30x9)). (C) is then the scientifically approximated number of minutes that the person to which you’re speaking in that moment has actually been alive. You could easily convert that to hours too by taking the total number of minutes and dividing it by twenty-four. You can assure them scientifically by this that it was “them” all along. A+B=C. You could also go to a more precise number of minutes by days in a month and not just use the approximation of pre-born gestation months with its hours or minutes and call that (C). Each day has approximately 1,440 minutes (24×60). It’d then just be A+B+C=D. Some parents may actually have told the person you’re speaking to something hilarious like, “You were conceived on a weekend trip to Maui, honey!” and you can be all the more precise. In my case then it would be 22,075,200 + 388,800 = 22,464,000 minutes (or 936,000 hours) that I Joseph have been alive. Born in 1978…#andsome. This can be helpful and even fun. I’ve seen it help obstinate people stop playing intellectual games on us being life in the womb. Along the process, the logic of reason that should not need this simple mathematical exercise in the science of chronology at all in the first place might just begin to affect their position on babies’ lives toward something psychologists call, “Less than nuts.” I would’ve liked to have walked Mrs. Ginsburg through this math. Chronological science proves that someone existed before they were born because you can never once subtract their incubation time and still have the person. They could not exist without it. This may help in some superficial way to tear away the scales on their eyes regarding kids. Once it is established by such a clearly logical argument that everyone just started off smaller in the womb then the question of pre-born life often (but not always) takes care of itself. It is a human life in the womb. No sane person challenges this. This simple exercise may help some, but we all know this isn’t really a matter of mere science.
We humans are carbon-based life forms. All life as we know it is. In Genesis 3:19, God says to his crowning yet fallen creation, Adam, “By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, until you return to the ground, because from it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” This is where the famous eulogy line of, “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust” comes from. Christianity, or the biblical worldview, gave rise to the fruitfulness of the modern scientific method. We seek uniformity in nature because we see that God formed it all with a desired uniformity. The so-called periodic table of elements is incredible. Creation is miraculous in its inception and providential in its outworking. In many ways, the sciences are just thinking God’s thoughts well after him. We have discovered much through the sciences about how our bodies work and how they’re made. We know that what makes us is in the stuff all around us. Our DNA is amazingly stored with proteins in our cells we call chromosomes. A chromosome is just our DNA greatly compacted to fit inside our cells. DNA is the molecule that contains the blueprints for creating every part of a living organism. It is clearly a written code only God could create. It gets copied to make you, and your body, using something we call Messenger RNA (mRNA). mRNA “instinctively” knows how to go back into the cell through gatekeeper like doorways that only let certain things in and out like bouncers, find the precise location for the detailed plans presently needed for what’s to be produced in the molecule’s double helix shape like opening the right file cabinet, unpack what’s needed, make copies of only exactly what’s needed for production through a process we call transcription, put it all back neatly, and come back out again with photocopies to move to the factory part of the cell we call the ribosome. The DNA coding in just one of our literally trillions of human cells would be roughly six feet long if it was typed out in a font-sized line of letters like those you’re reading here. This is a string of complex combinations of information we label Guanine, Thymine, Adenine and Cytosine (GTAC). Think of it like a computer’s binary code of ones and zeros. Just think of how cool this is. I’m like five feet nine inches tall. My cells are so small people need extremely powerful microscopes to see them, but if you laid out the information in just one of them it’d be a line of data taller than me. It’s estimated by some that if the DNA string of letters in all of my nearly forty trillion cells was typed out it would be about twice the diameter of the solar system. Yes, you read that correctly. It would be a six-foot-long repetitious line of letters about twice the diameter of the solar system. That’s in you right now. In order to fit all this inside our cells, God wraps the DNA around special proteins like spools of thread. The wound-up DNA is then coiled up even further to make your chromosomes like an extremely long kite string bunched up in your hand. Because of this, roughly three billion base pairs fit in each cell in a space just six microns wide (a micron is one millionth of a meter (1×10⁻⁶)). The string of data itself, if you added it all up, is long, but when it’s wound around the spool and then folded over and over, it can fit all the information just fine. Genius doesn’t even begin to describe all this. Reader, you and I literally began that small but were coded to code all of that.
A person (note that term) has copies of (usually) a pair of twenty-three chromosomes for a total of forty-six chromosomes in almost all of his or her cells. Half come from a father and the other from a mother. Isn’t that something? Kind of like a picture of God taking Eve from Adam’s side isn’t it? God makes men and women to differ, but we’re equals in our babies in this. The picture of your unique chromosomal make-up is called a karyotype. Egg (ladies) and sperm (gentlemen) cells are unique among all our multiplied trillions of other cells having just twenty-three chromosomes each. When just one of a man’s multiplied millions of sperm fertilizes just the one female’s egg we call that a zygote. The zygote (tiny you and me) is blessed with forty-six unique, never before seen, never to be repeated, not even in an identical twin, chromosomal combination as a microscopic baby that can now grow up to be either a man or a woman. In twins, changes still develop as the zygote(s) implant in the uterine wall for construction. The pairing of the chromosomes appears totally random, but we know it’s not. The process has glitches in a fallen world and the DNA of humans is said to be wearing out, but the process, all things equal, is still clearly nothing short of amazing. We should marvel at it. You are uniquely you because of this process and you’re as beautiful as any snowflake or flower. There are no two the same, and never will be. It’s not a heartbeat that constitutes “you” therefore. That came later. You were uniquely you doing your meiosis thing weeks before your factory-made, three dimensionally printed, heart gave its first faithful squeeze. It’s not brain waves that make you you. You were undeniably and uniquely you in fertilization (conception) long before having a brain or heart even built. So much for subjective standards of complex organ-based sentience. Scientifically, it’s nothing short or nothing other than your time of conception that you literally became you. God alone knows the precise picosecond, but you became uniquely you the moment you were conceived in your mom.
God says that life even precedes natural conception in his mind. He told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5. Before John the Witness (AKA the Baptist) was even born, Gabriel told his dad Zechariah things about him that wouldn’t be realized in full until Jesus’ public ministry roughly thirty years later. He said of John that, “It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him [Jesus] in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers back to their children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:17. We could use a lot more of this today with all these cowardly wicked “men” allowing their kids to be killed. We need fatherly hearts turned toward kids. We need men. Scripture says the following of the man who would abandon or not take care of his own: “If anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8. How certain is this of a man who’d have his own baby decapitated? But I digress. When it comes to insights on life before conception, these are insights into God’s startlingly limitless knowledge. When it comes to us and our limited knowledge, the moment we’re having sex we should know babies are possible. We should be married first and ready for them. Abstinence before marriage is a commandment, and God richly blesses obedience. Then it’s a fact that when we know a life has been conceived that it’s our duty to safeguard it. It’s a simple fact that it’s a person in the womb first logically, then also in every bit scientifically, but please be careful not to take the modern-day bait here, however! Don’t give opinions, even smart people’s ones, improper weight. We do not need science to tell us life begins in the womb any more than we need a thermometer to tell us it’s hot in Phoenix, AZ in August. The thermometer helps show you exactly how hot it is, but it’s entirely, utterly, and altogether unnecessary to knowing for certain that it’s hot out. Ethical issues such as murder, at least in many ways, are just as simple for us…unless some thermometer salesman has somehow managed to convince us otherwise.
Folks, “science” just means knowledge. “It” therefore says nothing! It must be given a voice. It must be interpreted and especially so in light of any moral or ethical argumentation touched upon by its interpreters. The sciences (speculative ones being somewhat separate from those less speculative, or those almost entirely non-speculative) are used to say a lot of things. Like a car, the sciences (collected knowledge categories) can be used to transport someone or to run someone over. “It” has no voice outside of the one wielding it. And remember, no one is neutral toward God. Neutrality is a myth. Science today, in the way it’s used and abused, is just religious talk for those who like to think they’re not religious.
We all know that it’s life in the womb. We don’t need any peer reviews to affirm it. In the blessed Law of Moses we read, “If people struggle with each other and strike a pregnant woman so that she gives birth prematurely, but there is no injury, the guilty person shall certainly be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.” Exodus 21:22-25. If the baby died, the person who caused the premature birth was to die as well. “Life for life.” This is the value God places on the pre-born. All life was safeguarded in the Law. Men, women, children, all lives matter.
Another evidence for life at conception can be leveraged in the minds of any sane parent. If a man is really a man and wants his child, what would his approach be to another man who came to kill his pregnant wife? Would he not fight both for his wife and for his child within her? Would he not speak of them both? Of course he would. He would fight to protect “them.”
Like it takes two hydrogen and one oxygen atoms to make up one water molecule, life is not the sperm or the egg. It is a fertilized egg that is to be scientifically affirmed to be a separate life. That person, from the moment of conception, has their own DNA as we’ve seen here already. God went to extravagant lengths to fertilize one egg by the man providing millions of sperm for the one needed. Sperm and eggs “die” in that they never produce life every month or more in men and women. This is not abortion. It is clearly the fertilized egg that makes up a person with a specific number of chromosomes taken from each parent. A baby in the womb may have a completely separate blood type from their mother. They have their own fingerprints, their own voice (to be heard) and their own soul. Since it’s not the woman’s body then it’s not the woman’s choice to kill him or her. It’s “Their body, their choice” only. Abortion is not a woman’s right or choice. That baby’s someone else. Our police and government should intervene because we should as a people demand it. Every time I say this, I feel a check in my heart. Who am I to say such a thing? Why would I want any government entity (which I don’t otherwise trust) to intervene?! Why would I want to intervene? Who should get between a mother and her own kid? Every time these thoughts arise, true humility must enter in. Innocent people are dying. To avoid it is cowardice and deplorable. We should ask ourselves a simple question: what would we say of a woman who strangled her toddler because she didn’t want him or her? We wouldn’t care what her arguments or even her circumstances were. She would be labeled a murderer and imprisoned. How wicked are we to deny younger kids the same decency and accountability? Some terrible pathological argument has somehow changed the point when it comes to younger babies. We must recover our decency.
More Apologetics Against What We Have Considered
I’ll add in a good bit of recap throughout this section. There is a great overall principle to living a spiritual life found in what many call the very center verse of the Bible for chapter and verse distinction reasons. It’s in Psalm 118:8. It reads, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.” Or we could say that the same truth is found in Proverbs 3:5 that reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” There is such great wisdom here that those of us who’ve tried it can readily attest. When we as Christians try to enter into the cultural approval of something as twisted as abortion, we must remember that this is a matter, in many ways, even beyond our opponents. Satan deceives in a way far too deep for us to unravel. God’s salvation and life alone unravels the depths of the evils in abortion. The abortionist, though not to be seen as a victim, is duped. Consider Jeremiah 17:9 as an evidence for something that should produce prayer and conviction in us to fight. “The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?” Appropriating this passage comes back to one’s grasp of God’s anthropology as a whole, but just for a moment let me remind you that the heart is so wicked that it’s good to ask: “Who can understand it.” How can someone embrace abortion? How desperately sick is that person? How can a heart be so cold? No illumined person can grasp it, but we must remember this passage. Sin so deceives a person that I don’t feel even they understand it in most instances. That’s how twisted our hearts are if left to themselves. This causes me to want to intercede for pro-aborts in my apologetics and not to hate them.
Through repetition, we must think from many angles about how the religion of scientism can blind someone along ethical lines regarding something like abortion. I’ve purposely gone over the same materials again and again throughout this letter because I believe that repetition is a powerful learning tool. And remember that what we are looking at has taken cultural root now. It’s been somehow normalized to murder babies. It’s hard to imagine how, but always remember that the biblical position on people is that people are evil at their core. Mark 7:14-23. This means that all our minds and hearts are literally just looking for something to distort. We’re not neutral toward God, we’re negative toward him. This is true in every one of us and so it can become true collectively as well. And this needn’t all be with bad intentions planned. That’s the nature of the corruption. Many abortionists I’m certain actually believe in their hearts that their position is good. I’m sure they do. Some may even dare to call themselves Christians, but this only illustrates for us the terrifying certainty of the deceptive wickedness of the human heart. It dupes its followers when left to itself. Scientism (ninety-nine point nine nine nine percent of the time in the hands of non-scientists) can become a way to excuse sin just like any other religion. Naturalism is a wet blanket for wisdom and humanity. Christianity has been a vehicle for hypocrites to live out sin too, but this is not the vehicle I’m addressing here in this letter. The secular mindset set on scientism can make someone insane. No one actually lives their lives this way, but follow me here. The pathology of abortion is tied to otherwise noble ideas like happiness and freedom, right? If a woman (generally not the man) is “forced to” carry a baby to term then it’s said by many that this robs them of their freedom and strips away their chances of happiness. This is the rocky soil of where offensive terms used like, “Reproductive rights” or “choice” germinate. Now, in the end it’s not wrong to say that Christianity is about happiness. The Westminster Shorter Catechism of 1647 had it exactly right when it taught its people to ask and answer in its first question: “Q1: What is the chief end of man? A1: Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him for ever.” I love this. This is my faith. I want to enjoy God more. Christ is the only real way to this happiness. Life is about enjoying God, and Christianity is the only way to. It really is about joy, but there are proper means to that end. Sin is never what we pursue to enjoy God. Joy alone is not the goal; it’s joy in Christ that’s the goal. Abortion is a bondage that enslaves. It binds people from the possibility of joy as much or more than any sin. We cannot take away what’s in between “happiness” and an abortion and call it good because it seems to make women happier or free to be able to terminate a life. To do so is evil. Happiness in the example we’d see in nearly all abortions today is tied to sex. That sex, however, is itself an abomination to God. God says that fornicators go to hell. Fornication is using sex as recreation outside of the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman. I don’t care about marriage certificates from states (though I acknowledge why that’s a good thing) I care about souls. God’s natural order matters. And of course, today our culture is literally geared toward fornication. This means we’re geared toward misery. Bars, night clubs, dating sites, apps, barracks rooms, movies, colleges, high schools, middle schools, workplaces, etc. They’re all clear that fornication is an entirely acceptable sin. God says, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived…the sexually immoral…will [not] inherit the kingdom of God.” From 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Again in Ephesians 5:5, God says through Paul: “For this you know with certainty, that no sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, which amounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” Christians know this. We separate sex from sin because not all sex is sin, but we acknowledge that happiness in sex is in the blessing of sex. Blessing and happiness are always intertwined with obedience. It may not appear so as there are many non-believers living happy lives, but a happiness on the way to hell ain’t a happiness we should be interested in. So, “happiness” for the abortionist is nearly always tied to sex that is itself entirely sinful. This adds to the weight pulling one under. It’s culturally engraved. The sex is tied inextricably to the resultant sin of abortion then. Also, there’s another life involved. An innocent boy or girl’s life (at least one) is in between the pursuit of that “happiness” and the abortion. God hates abortion and those who practice or support it. Proverbs 6:17 is clear that hands that shed innocent blood are hands God hates, and there’s no better example of this evil that God hates than abortion. For “happiness” or “freedom” in an abortionist’s life you must have both sexual immorality and murder if one becomes pregnant. But neither lead to it in the end. Birth control is also another means to this wickedness if it seeks to excuse the fornication. Fornication and murder cannot ever be called acceptable means to an end of happiness. We could explore more sins for sure, but these are two irreducibles in the equation. When you exclude in ethics what’s in between, you can lose a proper sight of what’s on the sides. We must learn to see this and make the connections. If a Nazi decides that it’s the best thing for Europe to eliminate one ethnicity of mankind, it’s not a question of whether or not she’s right, or whether or not doing so might in fact lead to national betterment, it’s all wrong because the means in between what’s assumed right and that Nazi’s view of what’s best is murder. Period. The ends don’t justify the means we say. Think of it also like a woman who says she’s “happy” by cheating on her husband. She may truly feel like she is. But in between the “happiness” and the adulterous sex, there’s a man hurt, a marriage shamed, a God dishonored, an institution insulted and possibly kids that were hurt both personally and in their own views on life thereby. Her soul is also destroyed as well as that of the other adulterous man if he knew she was married. So, the sex is not a proper means to happiness any more than the heroin addict’s addiction is. Abortion is similarly not a proper means to happiness as it involves depravity on the grossest of levels. An abortionist will never stop being a parent. They just make themselves the parents of a dead kid. A kid they murdered.
I read this week of a couple who killed their own kid by leaving him locked in the back seat of a hot car all day. Cops will arrest a person who leaves their kids in a car for too long a period. We call such things, “Child endangerment.” What sort of a spiritual void in our hearts is it to commit abortion? It kills one’s kid, but that’s somehow not child endangerment? How is that even remotely possible? There simply must be other blinding influences in someone’s thinking to ever confuse this matter.
I’ve spoken to countless people about this over the years. I’ve asked myself what’s behind it when someone honestly can’t seem to connect abortion to the first-degree murder that it obviously is. How can a heart become so darkened? I’ve had the distinct honor of standing up from whole long tables of US Army soldiers who advocate for it calling them all murderers and walked away. What can possibly dupe groups into such a distorted groupthink? Well, it’s a hodgepodge, of course, and not just one thing. And it all stems ultimately from being distant from God and his love. “No murderer has eternal life remaining in them.” 1 John 3:15. No one who commits or supports abortion is a Christian. There must be repentance. Behind every case of advocacy for it, I have found two things: 1) a desire for sex, and 2) the shallow excuse of happiness or freedom that leads to the sex. This usually comes down to material prosperity. Nicer clothes, cars, things, homes, education, vacations, etc. Such is indeed challenged when you need to provide for someone else. So, anyone else’s happiness, even their very life, now takes a back seat to your happiness. We all want to be happy. We can’t help but to want this. Being happy is a good thing. It’s just how we were made. In the selfish scramble for a happiness devoid of the fear of God, abortion can take hold through the often never-expressed ethical lines that seek to justify all means to that end. All this is done today in a digital life filled with technology and the wonderful comforts of material prosperity. And most of us are broke and can only afford all we want through massive debt anyway. If murder itself becomes a means to happiness in such a constrained yet wildly marketed life, and if killing someone who can’t voice protest can make someone “happy” by success and the ability to get more stuff, then it’s accepted in a godless worldview. It is certainly less expensive than being the parent of a living child. But there are spiritual truths at play. In James 4:1-2, God speaks of the kind of worldliness that produces abortion: “What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts? You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel.” Think of how this plays out in our day with our babies. People want to be wealthy, and they surely want the lustful pleasures of sex. So, they’ll murder for it because it’s those things that they think make them happy. They lust, however, and do not have. Now, the science is on our side as we’ve seen. Every single legitimate science confirms that human life begins at conception. But for the scientism of our day, it’s never really a matter of the sciences at all. You don’t need science to practice scientism. This is how I know it’s as much a religion today as any other. They believe in things like Darwinism without ever seeing it. Scientism only uses the word science like a hypocritical Christian might use the name of Jesus to justify some other sin. Scientism becomes a fake vehicle for pseudo-wisdom in abortion like in the following example. Let’s remove ethics and keep the point by imagining that someone says that “science” broadly speaking must convince them that it’s hot outside on a one-hundred-and-twenty-five-degree day. That even pouring down sweat they’ll deny that it’s hot out because the evidence has not been presented to them. Now, no one lives like this, but can you not see the use of understanding this in regard to one’s ethics regarding abortion? If “science” (meaning a false use of the idea of “science” as some standard of arbitrary measure that suits) can replace the ethical oughtness of right and wrong, can you not see how easy it is for forms of “logic” to intrude into the issue? Do you not see the devil here? Can you not see the purposeful distortion of a person who says that at a certain number of weeks it becomes unethical to abort? Can you see how a sinful heart can use such a sad argument as a smokescreen? What sort of a criminal gets away with murdering a cop because some cops are indeed just as wicked as some others? Can you not see how “science” here might teach that negroes aren’t human by not meeting a localized “scientifically agreed upon melanin count” in humans? If biological “science” in the mind of a man establishes that a melanin count exceeding a certain number makes one evidently less than human, that “scientism” becomes a dangerously false fact entirely unfalsifiable in the mind of the one who’s accepted it as fact. It may even be peer reviewed, of course. Ask Ota Benga, however, about the values of scientific consensus. Or if one says that Jews aren’t really “human” because of a scientifically established standard of physical appearance. Nose length, genealogy, bone density, eyebrow separation, etc. Ask a holocaust survivor about the scientism behind that “science.” Or here it is—today when someone says that babies aren’t really “human” if they’re really young because they’re not sentient, or self-sustaining. This is how “science” has been weaponized. It’s wielded as standards as such and has become an excuse for the macabre evils of abortion. The worshipper sets up their standards by using arbitrary means to their ends. It’s as subjective, and perhaps therefore as false or evil when ethics and other lives enter, to say that life begins at a certain week as it is to deny that it’s hot out without a thermometer present to show precisely the established number for what hot is. And yet the “science” stands (if you’re not looking) because if our local weatherman says it’s going to be hot out don’t we need (scientifically) some clear standard of what is and what’s not hot? Satan can convince only those wanting to be convinced by such things. I see Satan in these things. It’s those ridiculous Christians with their arbitrary standards of life at conception that are the problem, the pro-choicer will say. It’s those who don’t want people happy in the blood of their own kids that are the problem. We want people washed in the blood of Christ. As a Christian, we need to be aware that the devil is literally in arguments. That’s why we have apologetics. 1 Peter 3:15; 2 Corinthians 10:5; 2 Timothy 2:23-26, 1 John 4:2, etc. Love is not enough. Prayer is not enough. In both love and prayer, we are to fight. I’m writing as a part of my fight. Unrepentant murderers don’t deserve to be happy, reader. I’m tired of anyone, especially Christians, who’d dare suggest otherwise. They should not be. It’s terrifying and plain. There is no neutrality in abortion. There is in temperature, but no one’s neutral regarding life itself in this. This applies then to the pro-choice argument today. People have convinced themselves (it’s entirely self-serving) on how thermometers determine truth…if and when it suits them. They set the standard that “hot” is at eighty-two degrees and then say no one can say it’s hot, even at one-hundred-and-twenty-five degrees, without a thermometer present. That’s “science” after all. They create arbitrary standards to then enforce and dare to call that a “science.” And again, without ethical consideration needed in something like this, we can understand how this works just fine. But think of when someone says at such and such weeks a baby actually becomes a baby in the womb. It’s fine when arbitrary standards of “science” come to temperature consensus, but not when it becomes an ethical argument that costs someone else their life. There must be a law higher than man’s laws in ethics. History teaches us this very clearly. Explorers don’t get to arbitrarily kill Indians in manifest destiny. A false form of science in this argument directly will say something like, “A baby is a baby when it’s self-sustaining.” That’s not science. That’s just an opinion wielded and using some self-selected and arbitrary quantifiable measurement to assert itself by the consent of those similarly seeking justification by the acceptance of a false standard. Ask the baby. Ask the mom who “wants” the baby inside her if that logic floats? If someone tries to kill a pregnant woman’s six-hour post-conceived baby- who actually wants the baby- does she say, “Well, it’s not really a baby yet.” Of course not! No, it’s nothing but a tool in the hands of an immoral tool at that moment to set life at a week. That’s just a person trying to justify murder and pretend that their mechanisms are scientifically logical. That’s a rapist blaming the length of the girl’s skirt for his actions. It soothes the troubled conscience back to sleep in the pro-life silliness of life set at a certain week.
As of today, over ten states in the US allow for murder through all nine months of a pregnancy. This is at least consistent, but it’s scientifically and ethically wrong to set life at a certain week as I’ve proven here. Babies are babies at every week. Before a momma learns that she’s pregnant there’s usually been a gestation time of some weeks. She was pregnant with a life from the moment that life was conceived in her. That is what science shows. Then, however, comes the evils of one like the late Mrs. Ginsburg to sing culture a lullaby as choice, privacy or freedom. To set the temperature for what’s hot. Fine points…used to excuse murdering someone. But if Mrs. Ginsburg was eighty and “science” (in someone’s educated younger hands) says that a life worth living stops at age seventy-nine and hence she must now die she’ll cry foul. “But let’s examine the data rationally,” says the “science” of the naturalist who thinks she’s outlived her viability while he consults peer-reviewed articles of all the “non-biased” researchers that back him up just like many in his father’s generation also backed up each other’s opinions that slavery was justified, or that life begins at thirty weeks instead of twenty-nine. And let’s not let religion have the day they say. Yep- “At age seventy-nine people clearly stop being able to contribute enough to society.” “Look at all the disproportionate amounts of traffic accidents caused by citizens over seventy-nine” (cites statistical data from nine independent state websites). The lab tech flicks the needle. They’re convinced by the “science.” “What about standards of measure of one’s societal contribution?” He dogmatizes his point with a chart and his laser pointer. Those who find killing people over age seventy-nine feasible and fiscally prudent (who also happen to produce caskets, be involved in adult stem cell research studies, or hold public offices in areas dense with youthful constituencies) of course nonetheless considering the matter objectively, find his argumentation quite compelling. Plus, it’s actually a mercy to those poor suffering old souls, they say to themselves, while sighting all of the painful problems typically accompanying old age. It’s a fact, he says, that people over age seventy-nine rarely make more than the median income in most third world countries. The data also clearly shows that someone who earned more than sixteen million dollars in a lifetime contributed enough to justify them being able to retire and suck up other people’s natural resources until their death, but that someone who earned less than that, like you Ruth, are a drain on society (cites GDP). He then shows how the huge sums of money saved by the “Assisting Our Elders” campaign can be put into youth education and inner-city initiatives. This clinches the deal for many. She’s dead. Of course, Ruth and most people over seventy-nine, unlike the babies, is there to contend, but the “science” has spoken and they are all to die, or, excuse me, to be “assisted.” Especially those with any health conditions. But don’t worry it’ll all be done humanely by qualified professionals as totally safe, legal and rare. The same personnel assisting our elders also provide plenty of “Reproductive healthcare” options for the grandkids. You should call my pretended “logic” illogical, silly and/or evil here. It is because it fictitiously, though in all actuality “scientifically,” ends a life and is an inexcusable abuse of reason. But friend, it’s absolutely no less unethical than someone who wants to say, “At twenty-two weeks a life is a life” or “At thirty weeks” or “At eighteen days.” It’s all illogical. A noticeable heartbeat or brainwaves will never be enough for someone who through “science” wants to interpolate their marks on the field to another end. It’s not “science” then at all when you consider some moral implications in modern times or historically, but it’s rather the masquerade of a child molester “scientifically” utilizing the natural chemical enjoyment of a popsicle to a child to get them to enter the van. If “science” in the way I’m describing it is claimed as the basis for “reason” then the “reasoning” of the German scientists experimenting on people by freezing them nearly to death and then warming them up only to do it again during the holocaust to develop better cold weather clothing for their soldiers was fine, they just had a different standard of “science.” They were scientists, and we all know what “science” says after all. Don’t buy it, friend. We’ve bought into it long enough. Satan should have to find a new tool. This one’s done. Abortion has long since been exposed. Freedom and choice are an Oz that doesn’t even actually exist. If you recoil from such an idea as the “science” of Naziism but want to still purport our modern abortion on demand, a) you’re a hypocrite, b) you’re now borrowing from Christianity to distance yourself from the Nazi doctor, and c) I love you, repent and come to Jesus Christ.
Hardening
As I’ve cited from Scripture from many places, I know that mankind’s hearts are fallen from birth. Mankind is fallen. We must be born again. I affirm the doctrine of original sin without hesitation. Romans 5:12-21 alone is crystal clear on the spiritual reality of original sin. This is precisely why Jesus teaches we must be born again, born from above. John 3:3. But the level of blindness in my people today in abortion appears to me to be beyond even fallen man’s natural proclivities. Romans 1:30 speaks of man in a fallen and condemned state as “inventors of evil.” This implies a layering of degradation. We are not only evil by nature, but in our nature, we actually invent ways to be evil. It appears to be judgment from above. As Romans 1 says, when a culture is “given over” to its sin it descends further into grosser and grosser levels. Depending on one’s eschatological positioning, one may take the timing of the following passage as applicable in only one specific time. Even if you believe that, which I don’t, it’s certain that there have been multiple times in history when the following has been true in cultures across the globe. I believe it’s true over much of the world today. In 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 we read of a group of people, “…because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.” God sent the delusion…in order that those judged by it would be condemned. This is not arbitrary from God. This is his judgment upon this group both for their rejection of the Gospel (today) and for their other sins. God would be unjust to only send blessings on a world like this. Why are there so many people today who support abortion? I watched a video of a high school valedictorian yesterday talk about her right to abortion as something sacred. How can people be so deceived? My only answer, and I’m terrified of God to give it, is that we have been hardened. Now, this may precede revival, or it may not. It may be too late for us. I’m inclined to believe that it is. This isn’t the first time God did something like this. In 1 Kings 22, God allowed what’s clearly an evil spirit to do what it planned to do in the mouths of lying prophets that led to Ahab’s death. God hardens people (even a people) to destroy them. “He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires.” Romans 9:18. And I won’t exposit Isaiah 10 at all here. I invite you to.
In the Exodus, God decimated arrogant Egypt for hundreds of years of oppression against the sons of Abraham. Against the Hebrews. All manner of sin was committed by the Egyptians in that time I’m sure. Like many in the world today view unborn babies, the Egyptians viewed the Hebrews as expendable. In the second largest display of supernatural power on the planet (since its miraculous Genesis) God sent plagues and signs and wonders on Egypt unlike no other time. It was an unusual time period that has shaped the planet since. God even killed all of the firstborn of Egypt. Yet after all of that, after all of God’s power displayed in the toppling mockery of all their gods, when pharaoh ordered his army to chase the Hebrews into a parted sea, they actually went in after them. What sort of a soldier would obey pharaoh at that point? How could Amenhotep II himself have been so blind? My only ultimate answer, the only one that satisfies, is that God had hardened them by that time. They went into the sea like the pigs in Mark 5:13 because God’s desire was to destroy that wicked people’s army at the end. The firstborn had died, and now their dads too. I cannot explain the blindness of a regiment that would see fire barring their way to their enemies at night yet then attack by day. Their kids were likely not even decomposed, their nation was in utter ruins, and they’re dumb enough to keep fighting?! It’s more than dumb, it’s numb. Similarly, I cannot explain my people who are ok with abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism, fornication, drunkenness, greed, pride, etc., outside of the hardening judgment of an angry God. There is not a single sin God obliterated the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah for that isn’t being loudly celebrated in my country in 2021. His wrath will not slumber forever. Jesus told Thyatira through John: “I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her sexual immorality. Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. And I will kill her children with plague, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts…” Revelation 2:21-23. He sounds just like he did in Exodus 3:20. In 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 we see that, “The Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These people will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.” Of what more spoiled a people could this be true than ours? Sodom had no Bible. Every Supreme Court Justice knows what the Bible says. Every one of us come from a tectonic plate virtually afloat on biblical truths, yet we deny God today to his face. If America today is not a group who refuses to believe. If we’re not ones who through our avarice are worthy of hardening, I’m sorry to say it but I just can’t imagine who it’s more true of. Abortion (and the fornication upon which it’s grounded) are not the only reasons for such a judgment; they’re merely sure evidences of those worthy of it. If it was true of first century Rome, it’s true of any people today as well.
My people eat their own kids. They will be judged, and are being judged, for it now. We will reap what we sow. We must. God will not be mocked. Galatians 6:7. God has sent a dearth of preaching on the US. Many of our most famous preachers are lost. Our nation’s leaders are wicked. They endorse the slaughter of the innocents. We see money as a god. We are drowned in debt. Ancient Nineveh had only 120,000 people in Jonah’s day. We’ll murder more kids than that in no time. We are a people who like Nineveh, “Do not know the difference between our right hand and our left.” You can’t endorse transgenderism, abortion and homosexuality and not be a model of rebellion against God. I pray for another Jonah. And as Isaiah said, here am I Lord, send me.
We all know it’s wrong to murder people, but scientism has created a new breed of worshipper. This religion is catchy because its gods demand only that one, “Do whatever they want.” We must bring it captive to Christ. No one should seek to measure a T-cell count with a voltmeter, or use a speedometer to calculate weight. Don’t use the wrong tools for the wrong reasons. Pascal was right in his Pensees to speak of a knowledge unattainable by mere reason. Sciences can’t birth truth; truth is spiritual. Truth births sciences, it’s not the other way around. A beryllium rod may be great for detecting radiation, but it’s a terrible babysitter. Truth is its own test, and you must learn to test it, Christian, by Christ. Don’t let the religion of the day falsely rob you from reason. Christianity is not a shut down your mind belief. It is not blind it’s just not measured in inches. Put down your rulers and listen to Jesus. God made the world and everything in it. We can see this and know this. God has made it plain. The Gospel goes further, but we need not polarize science and faith. We do need to polarize science fiction (or what I’m calling scientism here) from faith, but not legit sciences. I see the pursuit of advancement as part of the dominion mandate in Genesis 1:28. In fact, the queen of all the sciences is biblical theology. What I’m interested in is being a man under God in all things.
People’s hearts are stone cold today after a generation or so of legal murder. Unrepentant sin always hardens. No Nazi can take life and not be taken. You can’t take fire into your lap and not be burned. Proverbs 6:27. Yes, I believe there is a cultural blindness sent from God today upon us because of this and other collectively “blessed” sins. It’s evident all around me even just in the approval of evil. See Romans 1:32 and connect it to the groupthink we’ve been given over to spoken of in vv. 24, 26 and 28. On 24 Sep 20, a contributing author named Jamie Smith wrote an op ed for the Huffington Post. Yes, the Huffington Post, that bastion of logical thought that it is. She says she’s, “A 40-something attorney and mother who lives in a quiet neighbourhood with a yard and a garage full of scooters and soccer balls.” She’s now a Satanist. To be clear, this lady asserts that there is no Satan. To many Satanists today, Satan is indeed just an ideal freeing them from anyone (or God) telling them anything they don’t agree with. It’s just a social club for some. Please, remember our logical exploration above that gives rise to a so-many-layers-deep foolishness as this. Satan is actually a symbol of freedom to some. Satan himself, mind you, loves this. In the article, she spoke in terror about how after the death of Mrs. Ginsburg, she was afraid for both her and her daughters that they would not be allowed to have abortions in the future if they chose to. The way these religious fanatics (she’s a member of a temple) speak about abortion is literally like getting a haircut. It’s a basic need like water or interior plumbing. It’s a dangerous time to be a baby today, folks! In light of what she alludes to as the basic human right (catch that) of abortion throughout the article, she cites a legal precedent in the US that employers needn’t provide birth control for employees and says that they should similarly be able to have paid for abortions because, “This is what equality under the law means on a fundamental level.” The level of darkness here is terrifying. It’s a deep confusion. A spiritual illness manifested in her reasoning. For her, it’s actually a “human right” to murder a human. She genuinely believes this. It’s a depravity perhaps only matched by the Catholic inquisitor who feels he has the power of freeing a soul from hell by a confession brought about through pain. Now, the right not to provide birth control does not unjustly end anyone’s life last time I checked. Nor does it infringe upon one’s freedom to engage in sex if they chose. Abortions and some means of birth controls do end lives. One position recuses someone from harmful action; the other demands one directly participate or aid in harmful action. This is comparing apples to Buicks therefore, but this woman is not operating from reason, but a false religion. Clear levels of the confusion that has overtaken her become abundantly clear in the contradictions she rolls right over. This is naturalism in her own words. Admittedly again, she doesn’t believe in the devil. She goes on to say, “Just like other faiths, the Satanic Temple has a code that their members believe in deeply and use to guide their lives.” They align perfectly with natural religion. Get this. She says: “These Seven Fundamental Tenets include that, “One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.” All creatures excluding little babies it seems if it’s not reasonable (fiscally viable) that they should live. Burn, cut, stab, pull, toss them jokers out…but “have compassion on all.” I’d call this a contradiction. Inconsistency always reveals such. Folks, this is how Satan (the real one in the Bible) talks. She says that, “The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions,” and that, “One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.” Except for the babies, of course. Their parents had sex and they’re there by God’s providential design, but their will is not a factor. Their bodies are not subject to them alone because we’ve not endowed them as the deities we are with life yet. How many layers deep does a culture need to go for groupthink like this to slither out of it on any popular level? If it wasn’t surrounded by the orgasm it would likely never happen. Last citation from our Satanist. She says, “Reading through the Seven Tenets, I was struck by how closely they aligned with the unwritten code I had used to try to guide my own life for several years. I realized, happily, that these were my people and that I had been a Satanist for several years without even knowing it.” This is what we call “Selfism.” They agree with me so they’re correct. I am the measure of all things. So are they so of course they do…so long as we don’t really explore it together and allow each other to rule our own universes alongside each other “in love.” If you’re your own deity then of course such ideals “make sense” that allow you to just be you without any real constraint. Let the bodies hit the floor, we’re free. It’s in fact liberating, says Antoine Roquentin, when one muscles through the nauseating idea of realizing there is no God in humanism. It’s just selfism, reader, and its devotees are very passionate. The priests of Baal cut themselves with knives. 1 Kings 18. The priests and priestesses of scientism and selfism today cut their kids in the abortuary. But of course, one must always remember that, “One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures…” Liars.
I know that some will dismiss my position on abortion because I “demonize” some opponents, but the Christian must be able to judge good and evil. Hebrews 5:14. You can never totally separate the sin and the sinner. You’re not God. People may promote evil, and so must be challenged, but this is to be done in love. In gentleness. In patience. Many Christians actually think cowardice is kindness, but this doesn’t come from God or sound teaching. Jesus was the least cowardly man on earth and was not always kind. I know that people who promote abortion are deceived about this. I understand that some, especially younger people, have been indoctrinated with the kind of ideas I’m outlining in this letter and approach the subject from under it. How did the Christians reach the German generation that followed the height of the Nazi party? This is partly why I cited from the stomach-turning movie Unpregnant. This is my duped people I want to reach. I must speak the truth of it all with boldness. Murder is wrong and should not for one moment be tolerated. This is about God’s commandments and human lives dying in droves. We must be able to speak of those who promote evil as evil, but remember that what we’re fighting is the evil itself. Our enemies are our mission field. We want them freed and God honored. People are not our enemies, their gods are. It’s not time for pleasantry. It’s a flip the tables over and beat the wicked out of the temple with a whip time. John 2:13-17. Perhaps we should do it twice. Sixty million people are dead! Everyone who supports that is wrong and everyone opposed to it is right. Period. You might not be demon possessed, but lies that murder people are not “from God.” Even when he sends the lying spirit that lies, God is good and has given the world the commandment to not murder. God is altogether holy, perfect and righteous. God is not the author of evil. Ginsburg was. Burger, Douglas, Brennan, Stewart, Marshall, Blackmun and Powell Jr. were and were wrong in 1973 on Roe v. Wade. We are often wrong. Not God. Lies are always ultimately from Satan. We must trace them. Evil always only comes from the fallenness of created things. When Paul renounced the Judaizers (or even fallen angels), John denounced the Gnostics, or Peter spoke of the accursed (Galatians 1:8-9; 1 John 4:3; 2 Peter 2:14 respectively) they knew who and what they were fighting. They spoke to or of specific people at times by name…in light of the evils that motivated their false messages! They knew their enemies…and knew what made them such. We must too. God is good and his creation is now fallen. All that’s good is from above; all that’s not is from below. It’s that simple. We must have a doctrine of theodicy in light of abortion. We can then identify our enemies like the Taliban hiding in the populace. As Christians, we must know where all goodness and where all evil comes from. James 1:17. The London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 (3.1) says it perfectly:
God hath decreed in himself, from all eternity, by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely and unchangeably, all things, whatsoever comes to pass; yet so as thereby is God neither the author of sin nor hath fellowship with any therein; nor is violence offered to the will of the creature, nor yet is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established; in which appears His wisdom in disposing all things, and power and faithfulness in accomplishing His decree.
The Bible’s 1189 chapters both begin and end with just two chapters in a perfect world. We live in between the Fall and the Consummation. In the span of eternity, this is an abnormal state of existence. It’s our experience. One needn’t be “demon possessed” to speak for Satan. An abortionist needn’t frequent a pentagram any more than the rapist to do Satan’s will. All that is from below is from him. Satan is the father of lies. John 8:44. He is the king of nothing and nowhere. Satan, not the fake after school club ideal but the real thing, is very crafty, however. The majority of a whole distracted generation’s views on abortion have been shaped by scientism in an ultimate expression of sex and selfism. Satan presents himself as a fan of mankind through hedonism. Many Satanists today speak of Satan making gods of mankind by “freeing them” from enslavement in Eden. Sounds a bit like Genesis 3:1-4, right? No, they died that day, not as Satan had said, but as God had said. Ginsburg literally embodied the mantras of the Satanic Temple in her legal pursuits by promoting murder as a means of “choice” or “freedom” for women. We don’t “shoot the messenger” of Satan. We warn the messenger of God’s Day of Wrath to come.
Nazi Germany and Abortion Further Cited
I’d like to commend to you Mr. Erwin W. Lutzer’s inimitable book called When a Nation Forgets God: 7 Lessons We Must Learn from Nazi Germany. I first read it while suffering persecution in Afghanistan for being a Christian/not being pro-gay in 2013. In it, you’ll find many great lessons we believers can learn from a study of mid-twentieth century German history. I’ve read a good bit from Nazi Soldiers in my time. I’ve lectured on the Nuremburg War Trials. Merits of it all, arguments, insights, etc. I’ve even gotten to tour the facility in Nuremberg where they were tried. The building and prison they were in were just about the only buildings standing in Germany after WWII, and the very courtroom in which they were tried- along with the courtyard and building in which many of them were hanged- is still used today. Consider the argument of a Nazi captain convinced it was his fundamental right or duty to murder Jews. It’s beneficial sometimes to consider one thing alongside another because it focuses the mind on more of the merits with less of the distraction. So, it’s 1943 at the height of Nazi power in Germany and Poland and you’re now a “clear thinking” German soldier. You’re just like so many others, and simply following orders from the top. It’s not a Supreme Court, but it’s surely a Supreme Command. You’re upset and arguing against the pure arrogance of someone like the British or the Americans who would dare try to usurp your own autonomy in slaughtering those “filthy Jewish people.” Premise: “It’s perfectly fine to kill Jews.” Now, if you’re pro-choice you cannot agree with me that this is insane, but if you’re of a saner mind and have not by any means re-defined Jewish people as sub-human like the pro-choicer has dogmatically re-defined unborn babies as such, continuing with me should help. We must try to understand what we’re up against. Evil cannot be reasoned with after all. You can’t grab darkness; you can only shine the light upon it. I’ve often likened the sad spiritual state of the average pro-choicer to the following. Imagine stumbling from a tree line onto a dirt road in Poland in 1943. Not far perhaps from where I’m now seated as I write this today in the town of Bemowo Piskie, Poland. You’re you from a better culture, but you’ve been transported back to 1943 (just go with it) and you stumble out of the wood line onto a horrific scene. You hear the yelling a long way off and approach. Two Nazi Soldiers have just apparently killed a Jewish boy who looks to be about twelve years old. Two parents, suitcases scattered nearby on the road, are on the ground clutching both one another and the dad’s head as he’s been butt-stroked by one of the Soldiers and is profusely bleeding. One soldier has his weapon on the parents, the other is pointing his at the heads of two twin girls about age six or so who are holding onto one another. The mother is frantic. The girls are frozen in terror. You quickly become frantic. You’ve been watching for about three seconds now. You know (I hope) that you should act so you instinctively shout loudly, “Halt!” which means (Stop!) Now, a gun is on you as some silence overcomes the mother. The girls just remain embracing each other in sheer terror. You don’t know what to say so you shout in protest, “Was tust du?! Sie können dies nicht tun!” (What are you doing?! You can’t do this!) Soon realizing you’re no threat, the soldier with his gun to the girls retorts quickly, “Warum nicht, sie sind nur stinkende Juden?!” (Why not, they’re just stinking Jews?!) Can we reason with him that life begins at conception? Can we provide rationale to that soldier about the number of minutes they’ve existed maybe? Will anything actually prove anything? Can it? Can science prevail? Could a cultural examination of the conditions that led up to the rise of the Nazi regime in his time and country help him see? Is he not already so far gone? Can any conceivable scientific premise rescue him from the evil he’s embraced? What at all could be said?! If you’re pro-choice you don’t get to say that this is evil. Stop trying to borrow from my worldview and stick with yours. If I have to explain to you why abortion is wrong then you’re just like that Nazi Soldier. You’ve gone dark already. Not only might there be no hope for that family, but there’s no hope for that German Soldier who feels the need to retort, “What’s wrong with this?!” Most pro-choicers today have usually gone even further down the ladder of lights. It’s not, “What’s wrong with abortion?” It’s now, “How dare you challenge my sacred duty to do so?” and instantly when you speak with one. You’re likely just too far gone if you’re asking, “What’s wrong” with such? You’ve come under something. Some terrible spell has bewitched you. You are evil. Like that soldier, you’re not innocent. Perhaps God will use this letter to awaken you. I don’t hate you. I love you with an undying commitment to you and to God.
Christian, we dare not think we can “win” with mere words in this fight. The Gospel alone can save us from hell and from sin. The culture of death will not be put down apart from the Gospel of life. We’re not pro-life. We’re Christians! Along with all our apologetics, we must testify of what God has done on the Cross. Without that, we’re sounding gongs without love. If you’re a Christian pastor reading this, I challenge you to bring your people under church discipline for any support of abortion. Teach on it with both young and old in your church. Teach the boys to be godly men and the girls to be godly women and expect nothing less than that God will richly bless his people as you do.
Now, one needn’t be a Christian to stop being a pro-choicer, but whatever truths turn someone from death are surely God’s truths. By the time you’re lobbying the courts for laws to murder kids you’ve gone even further down into the abyss of denial and recalcitrance. That’s Mrs. Ginsburg and the vast majority of the folks I know today. There are spiritual realities at play here that we Christians do not play around with, and from which Jesus has rescued us. When we see the Taliban remove a head to terrify a million, we see the same Satan that we see today on the US Supreme Court that endorses abortion. And we pray and war. The dragon is clear in abortion. And the dead under his talons now number over 60,000,000 just among us in only five years longer than I’ve been alive #andsome! If you’re a leader in my nation today reading this and you support abortion, repent. Repent and come to Jesus Christ. You will be judged, not only for what you do privately, but for what’s done in your public office. I’m a US Army soldier. Enlisted Air Force since 1998, commissioned in the Army in 2007. I’m now a chaplain still on active duty since 2017. I now bear both a Cross on my uniform and the name of my nation. I have repented for my silence in the sins of my nation in this as a representative of its Armed Forces. I cannot be silent. I have been tossed out of a regiment for opposing my nation and its leaders on abortion and other culturally celebrated evils from the pulpit. I will not and cannot be silent. I’m a coward, but professionally, I bear in my body the marks of my Lord too. Galatians 6:17.
A Final Word on Justice Ginsburg and the Wider Issue
As I’ve said, the issue of abortion is obviously wider than just the late Mrs. Ginsburg or even Roe v. Wade. US politicians are going to do whatever gets them in power or keeps them in it. Ginsburg was a symptom of a leprous disease in my land. Of the spirit that swarms in its airspace. Ephesians 6:12. And due to her tireless labors, like Wuhan, she is also near the source of the lingering disease and regrettably likely stands in torment tonight. Not just for this, but surely not for less than this. But again, I’m not God and I don’t know where she is. All nations are commanded to worship God, the one true God. Those who don’t are judged. America was highly blessed. We’re now one of the largest nations on the planet. But this will not protect us. Sodom had no Bible, one old preacher used to say. Were big, but this just goes to the old statement, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Of England, the great Anglican JC Ryle once said the following of his people:
In what manner God would punish England if English government casts off all connections with him I cannot tell. Whether he would punish us by some sudden blow, such as defeat in war and the occupation of our territory by a foreign power, whether he would waste us away gradually and slowly by a loss of commercial prosperity, whether he would break us to pieces by letting fools rule over us and allowing parliament to obey them, whether he would ruin us by sending a dearth of wise statesman, but of one thing I am sure—the state that sows the seed of national neglect of God will sooner or later reap a harvest of national disaster and national ruin.
I’ll let my English brethren answer as to where England is today, but if you don’t see this judgment at work in the US today, you’ve not been given eyes to see. Those who call “choice” good and God’s demand for sexual integrity wrong are evil and on this alone would deserve hell. And so do the hireling “preachers” who don’t condemn it openly. Not this saint. No way. SDG!
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And clever in their own sight!
Woe to those who are heroes in drinking wine,
And valiant men in mixing intoxicating drink,
Who declare the wicked innocent for a bribe,
And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right! Isaiah 5:20-23.
Is this not us in the US? As a judge, Mrs. Ginsburg died with the blood of about 60,000,000 people on her head. Our highest court calls for this. Many of our leaders have no ethical compass. Our people are spineless. Our films are filled with characters without character. Ginsburg advocated for death. Excuse me, for the “legal choice” or “right” to choose. Hitler, a boy-scout by comparison, blushes at just 11,000,000 murdered. Stalin at just about 20,000,000.
Did God have mercy on her in his private way granting her the righteousness she needs through the Gospel? I’m not God, I don’t know. I hope so, but I know he’d also be glorified in her damnation. Mercy, justice, either way I’m good with God being God. People condemn Hitler outright, but his victims were only bigger, and far less, than those of my culture’s leaders who support our abortion holocaust. No one casts out the “judge not” line when one condemns Stalin for the deaths of millions. Why not an entrenched liberal like Ruth Ginsberg who stood proudly on the front lines of the most monstrous evil I can think of literally in human history? September 11th was a far less costly terrorist attack against the people of the United States than Roe vs. Wade. And please remember that the Supreme Court (who of course make no laws) only lends precedent to the lawless. I will not be so weak as to forget God’s words for the world’s fake pleasantries that spit in God’s face. We can’t redefine life. The moment we’re aware there’s a life in a woman, real men and real women protect it. Mrs. Ginsburg couldn’t have cared less for those kids. I just can’t praise the brains or dedication of those who fight for the murder of the innocent. I’m not for taking her movie off Netflix. I’m for telling people with ears to hear to wake up.
Conclusion
“There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil.” Proverbs 6:16-18. “Hands that shed innocent blood.” Have you ever seen a baby, reader?! Worth a DuckDuckGo if not. What could be a more fitting description of abortion than this? A deviser of evil that sheds innocent blood. That’s the average pro-choicer in spirit, and we need to ignite the fight in our generation. One needn’t actually be inserting the knife into the baby’s cranium to be guilty of fighting “legally” for a culture that so desperately wants its sexual immorality that it’ll murder its own kids to keep it!? What kind of a person could say that killing someone who’s under fifty-nine inches tall or under a certain number of weeks is okay, but that at or above “sixty inches” or “these number of weeks” it’s not okay? That is just terrifying. The evil of this “logic” isn’t just in the people legalizing it; it’s in the people who want it! It’s in us, the people, who have denied our Constitution. We the people want abortion. That’s why it’s here. Shame on us. We the people of God cannot. We must fight. We must pray, love and fight. It’s not about changing the world. It’s just about being faithful.
Hear again the inspired and eternal word of the righteous and angry God who misses nothing and sees the darkness as if it is done in the noonday sun:
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze,” says the Lord of hosts, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” “But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall. You will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing,” says the Lord of hosts. “Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel. “Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse.” Malachi 4:1-6.
This did and still does actually apply to real people, reader. Then Messiah came. Jesus came and was born in about 5 BC. I will not forget his words for man’s approval. And may all who read his words and believe be blessed forever.
“The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.” John 7:7. Later he continues: “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.” John 15:18-19. I write this letter because I’m not of the world. All who support abortion are of the world. Many will hate this letter and will pretend that it’s just, “What I said,” “how I said it,” or the “timing” of it that made my words odious. It’s just that I used the word “murder” too much they’ll tell themselves. They’ll pontificate with all that kind of palaver Jesus condemned people for doing to the truth in the word: “Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering.” Luke 11:52. Murder is wrong, but there are many lawyers running around today. Reader, if we can’t call someone who supports abortion “evil” then we can’t call anything evil.
It is still written: “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:13-15. This is in every one of our futures.
And again: “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man (and every Supreme Court justice) according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.” Revelation 22:12-13. Words in parenthesis mine. Fight, believer!
God’s love is only as perfect as his hate. I pray for mercy, but I’ve read his book many times and his Spirit yearns jealously within me for the truth and for justice. I preach Christ to all I can. Forgive me for my sometimes necessary harsh words, if you find them to be, but lives are at stake after all. As are the souls of those taking them. Evil is evil. A spade is a spade. Telling you this is preaching Christ too. We preach of sin so that we may have the honor of preaching of the Savior! I am only a sinner seeking to address an evil of my day.
Just as this next passage addressed Rome in the first century and now also addresses America today, I ask you as your servant, are you in any way, either by action, endorsement, or omission, guilty regarding the holocaust of abortion today? Is there blood on your hands?
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.” Romans 1:18-32 (NASB).
Lord, have mercy on us! Where can we go from here? The answer is the Gospel thundering from the pulpits. The answer is the exposition of God’s whole counsel in the lives of more and more people. These are parts of the answer of Christ drawing near to us in mercy. I plead for America. I love my country. I demand nothing. I just want to see and hear preaching. I just want to see and hear the apologetics thunder forth. Christ died. Christ Resurrected. Christ Ascended. He is Lord of all lords. The eternal incumbent. He isn’t coming to take sides on abortion or any other social issue; he’s coming to take over. Preach the full counsel of God, pastors! Preach it, men! Ladies, you’re not allowed to pastor over men, but we need you to preach and teach in every sphere God’s given to you. Young men and women will then go out into the highways and the byways contending for the Faith as politicians, lawyers, cops, teachers, parents…people. We’re dying. We’re not over-populated. We need more kids, not less. Church, rise up. Do the first works. Repent where needed and rejoice that you have such a merciful and wonderful Savior in Jesus. Preach sound doctrine. Pray alone. Pray together. Get together with other Bible based churches and eat together. Call on God to have mercy and work hard in the Sabbath rest of the Cross. I want men and women reading this to own up. Repent. Turn to Christ if you have not. Speak up. I want dads to be dads and moms to be moms. I want happy kids with a mom and a dad who love them and take care of them. I want more bonfires, more birthday parties, more backyard movies and story times. I want peace and joy in life. I want people to be responsible with sex for their joy…and even for better sex with their spouse. It’s supposed to be like a fine wine! God cares about this profoundly. Forever, the first institution on earth was that of a man and his wife. That’s how we have life itself. We call it “pro-creation” for a blessed reason, reader. How dare we do with sex whatever we want, and then claim we get to do what we do with our kids in response. It says everything about us what we do with that which alone can propagate us. May God grant us repentance and shame that leads to joy and to life.
Down with abortion! To hell with it.
