A right understanding of God's mercy is everything to the Christian. Saying that a man has received "Imputed Righteousness" is like saying that he has been saved "by grace alone," or been given "the gift of salvation." It is a costly freedom. Righteousness is (eternally) credited to many sinners because sin was (once for all time) put upon the Savior. 2 Corinthians 5:21.
