The Eastern Orthodox Religion

Jun 20, 2025    Joseph Pittano, Stelios

Many of us in the western world have not had much of a chance to interact directly with someone from the Eastern Orthodox Church (EOC). Today, we’re joined by a young man named Stelios who lives on the island of Cyprus who can help us be ready to do so. Stelios actually grew up in Greece in the very shadows of Mt. Athos, a placed highly esteemed by some in the Orthodox world as a sort of training ground for the holiest of people. His grandfather was an Orthodox priest in Constantinople, and like most people in Greece today his family has strong ties to the group. But Stelios is no longer a part of the EOC. He’s a true believer in the Gospel of grace. The EOC is a very small group compared to either any form of Christian or Roman Catholic group. Sadly, its theology is not Christian today. Like its rifted and opposed western enemy in Rome, while many within its varying denominations get many things right, they seem almost universally wrong on the Gospel itself when we consider its doctrines. The EOC presents another gospel…which is not another. It presents a false system of sacramental self-salvation by works of the flesh. I hope you’re going to learn a lot by watching or listening to our talk. If you’re a part of the EOC, we love you, and we care deeply about you. We are not having this talk to pretend like we hate you, or that we’re not your servants. We want you to know Jesus, if you don’t, and the EOC will not purposefully make that introduction. We’re going to interact on a variety of topics today.

God bless!!!
